Double Trouble - Chapter 5 - Mission Not-So-Impossible

Yami Pocketim nodded, then dashed out toward Pocketim. Yami Bakuri focused all of her powers on blocking off their mind link, not knowing if she was even blocking off something that existed.

Pocketim looked up after stuffing the 1-up mushroom into his pocket and gasped when he saw Yami Pocketim. “What the…?” He backed away from him a bit. “Why do you look just like me?”

Yami Pocketim smirked. “Obey me,” he commanded, “or you fate will be dire!”

Bakuri…we’ve got trouble… Pocket gasped as his mind linked words merely echoed within his mind. “What?! I can’t contact Bakuri?”

Yami Bakuri smirked from her place in the tree. Heh…so they DID have a mind link set up… she thought. Outsmarted ya princess…

Pocketim looked up. “Hey! What’s Yami Bakuri doing here?!”

“Well, so much for staying hidden…” she muttered, not dropping her concentration.

Pocketim rushed forward to attack Yami Bakuri, but Yami Pocketim blocked the way and knocked him unconscious with his wrench.

“Whew…” Yami Bakuri muttered, dropping her magic and relaxing. “That kid’s will is strong…”

“Yami Bakuri…” he growled impatiently, “if there’s anything you gotta do while he’s unconscious, do it now!”

Yami Bakuri rolled her eyes. “Impatient, aren’t we?” she mused. “Fine.” As her eyes began to glow, an evil grin began to form. “I wonder if this will cause mental harm…I guess we’ll find out, won’t we?” With her power, she broke off the mind link and laughed as Pocketim shivered. “Oh dear, I hope I didn’t hurt him.” she said sarcastically. “C’mon, let’s go before Bakuri finds him.”

“Well, yes…but…”

“What NOW?”

“Wasn’t our original plan to get Pocketim to OUR side?” he said, “In this state, he isn’t going to be much use.”

Yami Bakuri grinned. “Well, we’ll worry about that when he wakes up, won’t we?”

“Good point. Let’s go.”

Yami Bakuri made a portal to the Shadow Realm. As Yami Pocketim tried to go in, she grabbed him by his shirt collar and yanked him back. “He’s YOUR hikari,” she told him, “so YOU can drag him around.” She shoved him aside and stepped into the portal.

Yami Pocketim rolled his eyes and went back, grabbed Pocketim by the collar, and dragged him into the portal.


Bakuri growled to herself. “I can’t figure this out…” she muttered, “What the heck did I sense earlier…and why can’t I sense it now…?” She noticed a hole in the dirt. “Huh?” She looked at it and realized that it was exactly the same size as the heel of her boot! “Pocket should hear this…” she muttered. “Hey Pocketim!” she called through the mind link, “I think I’ve found something!”

She waited, but got no response from him. “…Pocket?”

Still no response.

“Oh you’ve gotta be kidding…” She jumped up and looked around. “Pocketim! This isn’t funny! Now where are you?!”

The only sounds were those of the forest around her.

“Hmm….Wait a second…I sense the same energy as before…” She took off running to where Pocketim was before, looking around her. She noticed the same imprints as before, along with other footprints. “Now what could that…?”

“Looking for your “little friend”, Bakuri?”

The sudden voice made her jump a bit. She gasped and turned around. “P…Pocketim?”

Yami Pocketim and Yami Bakuri both stepped through a Shadow Realm portal. She gasped at the sight; for one, she thought Yami Bakuri was gone, and for another, Yami Pocketim was dragging Pocket along with him! “What the…What did you do to him?!”

Yami Pocketim laughed. “Let’s just say that he’s taking a little rest…”

She glanced at Yami Bakuri. “And…how did you…?”

Yami Bakuri laughed as well. “What’s wrong? Amazed to see that I’m still alive?”

“…Who are you…” she muttered, “really?”

Pocketim groaned and moved a bit. He woke up, just to be instantly knocked out again.

Bakuri glared at him. “You’re crazy…” she growled.

“Psh…You act as if this pansy has some kind of power! He’s as strong as a twig, why would you care about him?!”

Bakuri glared at him even more. “Because…he’s my friend…” She grit her teeth in anger. “What kind of friend would I be if I DIDN’T care?”

“Aww, how sweet.” He said sarcastically. “Shall we finish her off, Yami Bakuri?”

She grinned. “With pleasure…”

Bakuri backed up. “What do you want…with me…?”

“Well…” Yami Bakuri said, “Isn’t it obvious?”

Yami Pocketim scoffed. “You’re nothing but a pest to us!” he yelled. “Time to get rid of you once and for all!”

Bakuri backed up even farther and found herself standing right at the edge of the cliff. “Oh…************************…” she muttered, knowing what was going to come next.

“I don’t even have to waste a mindcrush on you…” Yami Bakuri scoffed, shoving Bakuri back over the cliff.

Bakuri screamed and grabbed her yami, but it didn’t stop her fall. Instead, she dragged her down with her. “Heh…” she said, “you foolish mortal…” Yami Bakuri pulled out the Millennium Ring. “Have fun freefalling!” And with that, she created a portal and saved herself.”

“NOOOOO!!!!” she shrieked, continuing to fall.

Yami Pocketim watched and laughed, then looked at his hikari. “Looks like there isn’t much use for you any more, Pocketim!” he yelled, tossing Pocket over the cliff as well.

“Wait…” he muttered, “how am I supposed to get back to the Shadow Realm?”

Just then, Yami Bakuri stepped from a portal, dusting off her clothes. “Damn…” she muttered, “that girl has a good grip…” she shrugged. “Anyway…”

Yami Pocketim shrugged. “We don’t have to worry abut them anymore. Let’s go see the spirits.”

“Fine.” she replied, “Let’s go.”

They both took one last look down the cliff, then stepped into the portal, their job completed.
