Slowly, Pocketim woke up. “Ugh, my head…” he muttered, holding a hand to his sore head. He reached a hand over to where his backpack had fallen to get something to help it but…it wasn’t there? “HEY!” he yelled, “Where’s my backpack?!” He looked over and noticed that Bakuri was still unconscious. “Bakuri?” He shook her a bit when she didn’t answer. “Bakuri! Wake up!”
Slowly, her eyes opened and she sat up, holding a hand to her head. “Ugh…” she muttered, “what the heck just happened?”
“Are you okay?”
She nodded. “I guess so…ow, my head…”
Pocketim looked around him. The sun had come back out now, he noticed. “Hmm…I can’t remember what happened either…” he said in a distant voice, as though he were deep in thought…”I remember seeing a big flash, then I woke up, and my backpack was gone!”
“Oh no!” Bakuri yelled. “That had all of our healing stuff!” She reached into her jacket to get the Millennium Ring. “We better look for it…hey wait where’s the Millennium Ring?!” After checking every one of her pockets, she got down on the ground and searched frantically for it.
“I’m guessing this has something to do with the flash…” Pocketim said, pointing out the obvious. He checked in his own pockets. “I still have my wrench and hammer…” he said, pulling them out.
“Oh no…” Bakuri muttered, completely ignoring Pocket in her frantic search. “Without that Ring, I can’t make any more portals to the Shadow Realm! I mean, I still have my powers, but…” she ran over to another place where she hadn’t looked yet, “I still can’t make the portals…”
Pocketim thought about that for a minute. “What if someone else got it?” he asked.
Bakuri buried her face in her hands, letting out a cry of frustration. “We’d be epically screwed if someone else had that ring…” she said finally.
**Meanwhile, further away in the forest**
Two people trudged through the forest, one carrying a backpack over his shoulder, and the other swinging a pendant by the string it hung on…wait, is that the Millennium Ring?!
It sure is. It’s in the hands of Bakuri…wait, Bakuri’s back on the hill…
This wasn’t Bakuri and Pocketim at all, despite the fact that they looked like them…
“Ha! Those pansies!” Yami Pocketim said, digging through the backpack over his shoulder. “We didn’t even have to do anything to get these items!”
So Yami Pocketim stole the backpack!!!!!!!! DUN DUN DUUUUUUN!!!!!!!1
Yami Bakuri just snickered. “Duh.” she said. She began to spin the Millennium Ring in circles by its string. “Isn’t this a lovely pendant?” she asked, more to herself than Pocketim…er, Yami Pocketim, that is.
Yami Pocketim just shrugged. “We should go.” was all he said. “If we hang around in the same place for too long, then someone might find us.”
Yami Bakuri just rolled her eyes. “Fine.” she said, slipping the Millennium Ring around her neck.
“Hmm…I’ve got an idea!” Yami Pocketim said, “We should go to the Shadow Realm! Without the Ring, they couldn‘t follow us or anything!”
Yami Bakuri rolled her eyes again. “You think I don’t already know that?” she asked, creating the portal. “Let’s go.” She stepped through the portal and stood on the other side, waiting for Yami Pocketim, who was searching through the backpack. “Come on already.” she said, getting an annoyed look on her face.
“Hang on,” he said, pulling everything out of the backpack and handing it to Yami Bakuri, who sent him a “WTF” look. “I’m gonna leave the bag itself here,” he said, throwing it over beside a tree, “that way, there’s no proof as to who stole it.”
“Ah, I see…” Yami Bakuri said, grinning.
“You should hide the Ring, just in case. It outta fit in your pocket…”
Instead, Yami Bakuri just tucked it under her jacket to hide it. “This will do.” she said. “It gives me no power unless I’m wearing it.”
Yami Pocketim shrugged, stepping into the portal. Yami Bakuri shoved the items from the backpack to him. “What the-?”
“It was your idea to carry the stuff around,” she said, “so you carry it around.”
Yami Pocketim just rolled his eyes with a vague “Whatever.” and trudged ahead, following Yami Bakuri.
