The Tale part 1: the meeting
Bakuri scowled at her reflection in the mirror. "Why...?" she muttered, messing with her hair. "Why is Daddy doing this to me...?"
"Princess!" Bakuri jumped at the sudden voice. Curse those spirits and their ability to go through walls... "Your father is awaiting you in the throne room!"
She needed to learn one of those spells to make it so that the spirits cant come into her room..."Yeah yeah..." she growled, slipping on her shoes, "I'm coming..." As she walked toward the door, she tripped over the heels of her shoes.
"Be careful!" the spirit, whose name was Angela, flew over and caught her, keeping her from falling. "Watch your step now; we can't have you falling out there.
Bakuri regained her balance, adjusting the tiara on her head so that it was straight. "Thank you, Angel-san." she said, stepping through the door. She slipped quickly through the halls of the palace, giving a polite "hello" to those she passed. Upon finally reachinghe throne room, she slipped in and sat upon her own throne, next to her father. "Hi Daddy," she whispered shyly, noticing that she was already late.
"Hello sweetie." the king replied, reaching over to readjust her tiara. "What took you so long?"
"Uh...my hair." she said nervously. "it... wouldn't go up correctly."
The king chuckled. "I see..." he murmered, sitting up and looking out at everything that was going on.
The ceremony went on. Bakuri was SO excited! She had known these spells already from nosing around the library, but couldn't use them until today. it was customary that a child of the royal family didn't recieve tir powers until age five; today, the day of her 5th birthday, they would be awakened, and she could FINALLY use those spells she had read about!
The ceremony was nearing an end. Bakuri sat in a circle of candles, waiting as the group of people around her recited a chant. Suddenly, there was a flash, and it was over.
"That was SO much more boring than i thought." she whined as her father led her to her room. "I don't even FEEL any different!"
"It's alright." the king said, shushing her. "Why don't you run along into your room and change...?"
She brightened right away. "Okay!" she yelled, yanking open the door to her chaber and running in.
"Don't-" the door slammed. "Slam the door..." Shaking his head with a chuckle, the king continued to his own chamber.
The first thing Bakuri did as she ran into her room was kick off her shoes. Honesy, who makes a 5-year-old girl wear high heels? She ran in, pulling off the awful dress she had been forced to wear and pulled on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. "Much better..." she muttered, walking into the actual betroom part of her chamber.
A girl with dark brown hair sat on her bed, flipping through one of her spellbooks. Sensing Bakuri enter, the girl looked up and screamed. Bakuri screamed, too. "Who are you?!" the girl demanded.
"Wha- ME?!" Bakuri was amazed. "It's rather OBVIOUS who i am! Who are YOU?!"
The other girl laughed bitterly. "You'd better explain yourself quickly. My daddy can have you executed. He's the king, y'know."
Bakuri blinked in confusion. "Nuh-uh!" she yelled, "MY daddy is the king!"
Two spirits rushed through the wall. "Princess, what's wrong?!" Angela asked. Noticing the other girl, she stared, gaping at them.
"What the...?" the other muttered, "How did this...?"
"So the legend has come true..." Angela said in disbelief, "the princess of long ago...has been reborn..."

NOTE: years in the shadow realm go by slower than years in the real world...so yeah 5 years in real world terms would be more like 10 in the shadow realm...thats why Bakuri seems like she'd be a supergenius 5-year-old XD
(NOTE: she is still only 5 though >.> she's just smart as a 10 year old XD) |
