Dog Training.....DEBATE

So its me/dad vs. sister/mom
They always let my puppy on the couch, feed him from the table and so on and so forth.
Yet when I tell my mom to stop it and yes I do admit that it has gotten to the point when I yell at her for doing it she does nothing but yell back at me and we are at it for hours to go.
My dad comes home and all of a sudden they change their rules and punish em. This does nothing but confuse him and is most likely the main reason his behavior has gotten worse.
I need tips on how to break my 9-month old
Shi-poo (************************zu + Poodle) puppy from the following:
Some have told me that I should have started this earlier and I did but my sister basically messed everything up so now I have to start all over. If I don't proceed with this training my dad will get rid of the dog and I will go to jail for killing my sister.

1) When every the dog jumps on the table, say no and take the dog of the table. If this keeps happening then lightly whack on the head with newspaper or paper of some sort.
2) Same thing with the whacking, but try to keep the socks hidden or a place you dog cannot get to them. 3) Now in my opinion this is fine but what ever. You may not want to whack the dog for this even if it keeps doing it. I would teach your dog how to lay, by pointing at the floor, and continuously taking her off the couch. 4) Now with my dogs after every meal I give them a little snack, but you may not want to do this because they keep begging. When they beg, just ignore them. Do not do anything else. Pretend like they are not there. |

The Chewing is the easiest problem to fix...Getting him Chew toys. one that works is what they call a kong you can put food items in it keeps them busy. Another one is get toys but get enough toys so they dont get bored with just having the same toy should occupy them enough not to chew.
The others is going to have to be alot of catching them in the act and telling them a firm no. Dont hit them because then you will have a timid dog. I have heard of people rewarding a dog with a treat everytime they stopped doing what they used to do. Its going to take awhile but you need to talk to your sister and Mom and Explain why you need them on the same page. Because if they are doing the opposite its going to confuse the dog. Goodluck on your puppy training Jen PS. A dog is Never to old to train. Whoever tells you is wrong. I told a older dog and Did obedience training when most people said he was too old to train. |
