JFA Book 2 Ch. 4: The Mars and Mecury Clans

(Warning this blog contains spoilers from the Golden Sun games... and even major ones. Read at your own risk....)

Sara: Well at least saved the stars from falling into the wrong hands...
Diddy: Who were those people?
Sara: How would I know? But whoever they are it's clear that they're from the Mercury clan...
Diddy: The Mercury clan?
Sara: Don't tell me Jackit never told you about...... them.
Jackit:.............just a tiny bit.
Sara: Well... I guess we have a long story to tell then.

Sara:
For as long as humanity can remember, there have been four Elemental Lighthouses. These Lighthouses were built by the ancients during the first Golden Age. However, nothing that is good last forever, soon the people became too selfish for their own good and wanted “the power of all” for themselves. Eventually, the Lighthouses were sealed off to protect “the power of all” from unworthy hands and peace was said to be restored.

However none of them realized that by sealing away the lighthouses and “the power of all” with it, humanity and the planet would eventually erode to nothing. It wasn’t till many years later, how many years exactly is unknown. It could be hundreds, thousands, even millions of years later but however many years later it was. Our clan, the Mars clan, went on a quest to restore “the power of all” for the good of humanity.

Of course that goal was not reached without major consequences and disasters. On the way to simply get the Elemental Stars, the keys to unsealing the Lighthouses, a trap… well took out all but two of the scouts sent out on this quest to restore the power, even once they finally got passed this trap they were only able to get three of the four Elemental Stars due to the interference of Isaac and Garret. And along the way to right when two of the four Lighthouses were lit, the only two left of that group were defeated by Isaac and his party.

However , they were not the only one left to be of support of the Mars clan. Felix who was saved by the Mars clan when the trap disaster took place, had eventually sided with the Mars clan when he and the other heroes we Mars Members know today, when they were taken by the two scouts and learned of why we the Mars Clan wanted to bring light back to the lighthouses. So when the scouts were defeated, he and party continued on the quest that the original scouts started. At the beacon of the third lighthouse, Felix’s party met up with Isaac party and they eventually sorted out their differences. Isaac’s party finally saw why lighting the Lighthouses was so important and joined Felix’s party on their cause. With the forces of these two side the lighthouses were all finally light and the second Golden Age begun.

Several generations though a single warrior sealed off the lighthouses that us of the Mars clan worked so hard to relight. Although the exact reasons of him doing it are unknown… it is said that he told us and our rivals of the Mercury Clan that the lighthouses had to be sealed once more because the planet was no longer ready for “the power of all”. He also told us that when the time has come the lighthouses would be ready to be lit once more.

Although we knew that if the world waited forever, it would decay the same way it did before. We believed this warrior and waited. However, despite the deed our clan has done for the world in the past, they still believe that we were the evil ones and would not wait for “the time” before lighting the Lighthouses. But we believe they think that “the time” will never come. Because of this waiting our world is decaying to nothing….. very very slowly, but surely.

If that wasn’t enough, because of this unfair bias the Mercury Clan has towards us, their clan comes over here at random times just to attack us and take people back to their island…. what they do these prisoners is unclear but it’s clear that once you are captured by the Mercury Clan…. you never come back. But now the time for the Lighthouses to be reborn has finally come, but of course the Mercury clan will stop at nothing to prevent us to bring light back to these Lighthouses….

Sara: That is the story, of us and the Mercury clan and the rivalry we share….
Diddy:……….. wow…… that is one long story……
Sara: And that is also why anyone, with the power of water is a monster! Those of the Mercury clan deserve the worst of our curses! They’ve destroyed our homes, attack our people, take children, and who knows what else! Anyone with the power of water deserves no right to ever even be born!
