Facebook on Xbox?

Discussion of the new features on Xbox, which include Facebook, Twitter, and Last.FM Radio..

I find it strange that I have an account on Xbox, an account, on facebook, but I cannot access facebook on xbox because I do not have a "Parent Account". If I am allowed to have both of these accounts legally, why does microsoft have to make rules like this??!?!?

Well, anyways, if anyone has access to these features on their xbox, please post about them here.

Has anyone heard about this? I just found an article saying there will be free Xbox Live Gold Membership to the Silver members starting from November 20th (9am Pacific) to November 23rd (9am pacific)

I found a couple articles saying that on the web but I'm not sure. Do any of you know? My live just ran out today and I want to see if I can play it this weekend :D

Wesker 5-3 Professional?

Well me and my friend (UN Drew) are having a tough time with Wesker (5-3) on professional mode. Two bullets from Jill's machine gun will kill you and a Wesker combo will kill you also. We usually start off by restraining Jill and knocking her out and then open up the "locked" door with a cut-scene there Wesker kicks you through the door. Then we hide for a few minutes until we see sign of Jill or Wesker and jump down to the lower floor and attempt to repeat the process of hiding. We have gotten to where Wesker says "Your seven minutes is up" but we waited another minute only for Jill to find us and kill both of us. I'm just asking if any of you have some tips =/ I'll list our current selection and Inventory.

today i found out that modern warfare 2 broke the record for most copies sold in the first day, selling 4.6 million copies, destroying the previous record held by grand theft auto: san andres, which sold 3.4 its first day.

So yeah, Reggie is stupid. Obviously it's not going to outsell MW2 as a whole, and even on the 360 I feel like it will sell more. I honestly only know a handful of people who haven't boughten or aren't going to buy MW2. What do y'all think?

US, November 5, 2009 - A wave of alleged Halo: Reach off-screen photos were posted on the Major League Gaming forums today. But are they real?

Gameplay details list a new carbine that shoots needles, a battle rifle with 12 rounds, and a new HUD that displays your squadmates' health and names. The HUD also displays perks, such as sprinting, cloaking, and halogram.

We're skeptical how legit these really are given how fuzzy the photos came out. And who knows, these could have been done in photoshop and uploaded to the person's TV via a computer.

But this is a message to anyone who tries to take photos of something you shouldn't: Hold the camera steady! Check the screens below and give us your thoughts. Do you BELIEVE?

I like the graphics, the games, and the price of a PS3,
But I don't like the 2 players...

360 has the "MW2 Elite" Package coming out in Wal-Mart...
I'm thinking about getting that. $400 is alot of money tho..

360 Pros: 4 ppl, Halo (*shrugs*), cheaper console (arcade) and I know more people with them..

Ok, so my cousin brought his controller from his xbox so we clicked the Xbox Guide on the controller and the lights just flash and then when we stop, it stops flashing. does anyone know why?

anyways, after that, we press the button on the xbox then we press it on the controller, so the lights go around the xbox light and then it ends on the first one (top left). isn't it supposed to end on the 2nd one (top right)? please help. :smilie_diddy:

Talk about starting the weekend off with a bang!

EA and BioWare today announced that the hugely anticipated Mass Effect 2 will hit North American stores on January 26th, with Europe set to get it on January 29th.

In addition, EA announced that people that pre-order from select retailers across Europe and North America, will get access to some fancy pre-order goodies, namely some in-game special-ops armour and weaponry... and you get that for free and all you have to do is preorder. Happy days.

The details of the pre-order incentives are as follows:

"Pre-order bonuses include special-ops armor and weaponry that are designed to boost Commander Shepard’s skills and abilities. Terminus Gear includes the powerful Terminus Assault Armor and the M-490 Blackstorm Heavy Weapon. Terminus Armor is designed for use in extreme planetary conditions, increasing run speed and personal shields, and augmenting weapons with an additional magazine of reserve ammo. The M-90 Blackstorm Heavy Weapon generates a high-powered localized gravity well, accelerating particles to near-infinite mass, and ultimately expanding the selection of heavy weapons available to players when they gear up for combat missions in Mass Effect 2."

"Inferno Armor will also be available as a separate pre-order incentive. This item is used by officers to monitor battlefield conditions by recognizing elevated heart rates, and regulates sub-systems with extreme efficiency to allow for greater response times – together these abilities translate in-game into a negotiation bonus for Commander Shepard and an increase in run speed and augmented damage from combat powers."

January 29th then? Sounds good to us... all we need now is for BioWare to announce the collector's editions and we can slap some cash down.

Sky Player Coming to the UK on October 27th

Europe's Xbox Live Community maestro, Graeme Boyd, AKA AceyBongos, or Mini Major as we like to call him - he's a lot smaller than the Major you know - just announced via Twitter that the Sky Player will be coming to the UK on October 27th.

AceyBongos just "tweeted", "October 27 - that's the date when you'll be able to watch TV from Sky on your Xbox 360."

No details on the line-up or pricing yet, but according to AceyBongos, those details will "come at launch." Remember though, if you have Sky already, it's free.

October 27th then... just in time for Manchester United vs Barnsley in the Carling Cup. Wait a minute while I feign excitement... for that match, not for Sky.

Memory Unit

The Memory unit is like a memory card. It holds saves games in this kind of technology. The memory card says that Hard drives have least memory than the memory unit. The memory unit holds up to 300 GB.

They don't have to be exclusive ones! I have 109 games and counting. Right now I'm VERY addicted to Castle Crashers, South Park, Mega Man 9, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Turtles in Time Reshelled, and many more! Honorable mention to Shadow Complex for being one of the BEST 360 games ever. I'm not playing it at the moment since I've completed it lol. Even my girlfriend loves XBLA! Her faves are Uno Rush, Cloning Clyde, A Kingdom for Keflings, and N+! What are your faves?

Gearbox: Easy Achievements Means Extra Sales

Speaking to OXM in the UK, Gearbox head honcho, Randy Pitchford, stated that easy achievements can increase a triple-A game's sales by up to 40,000.

Pitchford stated, "the achievement hunter, who's going to make purchase decisions around the achievements per minute ratio - he's probably buying ten to twenty titles a year, or at least playing that many." He continued, "he's playing a lot. So he's a very frequent customer, and you want to be in that pile. That's just business."

"The time it takes is minimal, because you're designing achievements anyway, and you can probably affect your sales by something like 10 and 40 thousand units. If you're talking about a triple-A game selling between 1 and 2.5 million units. You're talking tens of thousands of units of impact there."

"Unfortunately most people in the industry don't think through it that much. You have designers designing achievements, and they're the worst," said Pitchford, something that I think we all can agree with.

It's no surprise to find Pitchford talking about achievements with such a passion after he expressed his love for them when we interview him last year.

It's interesting to see him using the terminology "achievements per minute" though, as the quicker the list, the more likely it is to encourage a rental. However, that being said, Gearbox aren't really known for easy achievement lists, so maybe he's talking about finding that right balance. Maybe he means... make them attainable, like the Borderlands list seems, but not impossible.

Either way, the more achievement talk in the industry means the more people will take it seriously. I mean, it's only been just under 4 years...

6 Years of Halo Planned, ODST Sells 2.5m & Reach Confirmed as Prequel

If you love Halo, you'll love the next 6 years if 343 Industries' Creative Director, Frank O'Connor's words are anything to go by. If you loathe Halo... suck it up... it's going to be a long ride.

"We do have a plan that goes out at least six years," says O'Connor. Plans that include not only Halo: Reach, the upcoming anime Halo: Legends but a new Marvel comic series called Halo: Bloodline following the success of the current series Halo: Helljumper, a new story collection called Halo: Evolutions and the sixth wave of Halo action figures. And we suspect there is more... lots more.

According to USA Today - where all this new info stems from - Halo 3: ODST has already sold over 2.5 million units in just its first 2 weeks which according to Microsoft, amounts to about $125 million for their Entertainment and Devices division. The article doesn't specify whether that is just US or global sales, but it's pretty damn good either way.

O'Connor talked briefly about Halo: Reach as well, confirming our suspicions that the game will act as a prequel to the franchise, suspicions that were based on the fact that Reach was the target of some serious Covenant aggression before Halo: Combat Evolved.

"It's a prequel to Halo 1," says O'Connor, "a chronological prequel, but it is not a prequel in the directions the Star Wars prequels were to the (original) movies."

"It will cover events in and around the planet Reach." Again, something we assumed already.

O'Connor did find time to mention the Halo film which is currently on hold, as well as... try to act shocked here... hinting that Master Chief may return.

"We're being very careful to pick the right time and the right partner," O'Connor said about the movie. And Master Chief, well...

"I think that (his) fate, Cortana's fate and the identity of that giant, dark planet at the ending (on the game's hardest skill level) — that's a spoiler — are probably big mysteries that would be irritating if they were just cliffhangers."

Good news for Halo fans. Just news for everyone else.

The wait for Gears of War 3 could be longer than expected, with Epic Games President Mike Capps saying it will be released on the next generation of consoles � meaning that it could be between four to five years until we see Marcus Fenix and company again.

Capps was addressing an audience at this week's Tokyo Game Show in a Q&A session � attended by Eurogamer - that announced the foundation of a Japanese studio for the US developer.

Regarding the future of Epic's revered console series, Capp said "If there were a next Gears of War, that will be for the next console generation, whenever that is. If someone knows, please tell me! That's about four or five years away, I think."

He also revealed that the company has been working on Unreal Engine 4, the successor to the omnipresent Unreal Engine 3, for seven years, and that it would be fully compliant with the next generation of consoles.

Gears of War 2 was one of last year's biggest games, awarded a gushing 9.5 in our review. Given the two year gap between the first and second games, many had hoped the third instalment would come sooner.

Splinter Cell: Conviction TGS 09 Trailer

As is typical with one of the three big trade shows of the year, Ubisoft today released their latest trailer for their upcoming title, Splinter Cell: Conviction, to celebrate the event that kicked off in Tokyo yesterday.

The "numbers" trailer is a short video which shows a ton of brutality and gets its name from the release date it slowly reveals.
Splinter Cell: Conviction is coming February 23rd and February 26th in North America and Europe respectively.

Things from Kill to Death Ratio, Number of Kills with individual weapons, to how many splatters you have with a dead body. I have two by the way. :awesome: Recently Bungie updated the website because of the upcoming launch of Halo: ODST. They now track firefight stats, campaign stats, and much more. Microsoft Seeking to Continue Evolving Xbox 360 Past Natal

While Project Natal may very well revolutionize the Xbox 360, Microsoft Game Studios head Phil Spencer says that the company has no intentions of stopping there. In fact, he says they want to continue evolving the console well beyond that point.

"We effectively reinvented the Xbox once already when we rewrote the dashboard," Spencer explained to Develop in an interview, citing the New Xbox Experience and addition of Avatars as a "major transformation" for the platform.

"It's not about trying to sell consumers a new piece of hardware at the wrong time," he continued, "it's about evolving the platform continuously. And we are going to find things, like Natal, that are hardware-related to also do that."

"When Natal is added to 360, which is already an online-enabled powerful box, it starts a new generation of entertainment."

Just goes to show that Microsoft doesn't seem to have any intention of cranking out a new Xbox anytime soon, looks like they are preferring to upgrade the 360 even more as time goes on.

Microsoft Announces the Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition Console Bundle

At a Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer event in LA today, Microsoft and Infinity Ward announced their Limited Edition bundle, available for pre-order now.

The Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition bundle includes a "custom designed console, 250 GB hard drive, two wireless controllers and a standard edition of Modern Warfare 2 for US $399.99."

The console is coming to other regions later this week, so keep an eye out for it.

Ehhh, Its OK but it seems kind of unnecessary, the design doesn't appeal to me very much, it just looks like an Elite with numbers and letter grafted on, and I really don't see the need for a 250GB hard drive, it would take years to fill it up.

Halo Waypoint Coming November 5th

Halo Waypoint - Microsoft's hub for all things Halo - will hit Xbox Live on November 5th according to the official Halo Waypoint Twitter feed.

The tweet said, "Nov 5. Mark it on your calendar. That's when you will get your hands (or controllers) on Halo Waypoint. :)"

As to what Halo Waypoint is exactly?

Well, according to the press release a few months back...

"Halo Waypoint will be a new destination for "Halo" fans on Xbox LIVE around the world. It will inform fans of the latest "Halo" news and activities, and grants access to content ranging from podcasts, trailers and screenshots, to exclusive video footage you won�t find anywhere else. It also will provide a new challenge for "Halo" gamers with a career system and player rankings tied to both in-game and out-of-game accomplishments related to "Halo."

Halo Waypoint will also be the place where you'll find previews of some of the Halo Legends (anime) episodes and behind-the-scenes documentaries coming early next year.

Forza Motorsport 3 goes gold, Demo launches 24th September

Microsoft announced today that Forza Motorsport 3 has officially gone gold, and is entering the final lap before launching exclusively on Xbox 360. To celebrate the occasion, Microsoft and Turn 10 announced that a demo will be hitting the Xbox Live Marketplace on September 24th. The demo will feature five playable cars:

* 2007 Porsche #80 Flying Lizard 911 GT3-RSR
* 2010 Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro
* 2009 Ferrari California
* 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR
* 2009 Mini John Cooper Works

The demo will allow players to experience the full cock-pit view, as well as the game's brand new rewind feature. The demo will also feature leaderboards for fastest lap times to compare your racing skills with people from around the world. Forza Motorsport 3 will hit store shelves on October 23rd.

So last night I was playing one of my new favorite games, BlazBlue. I started playing online and I play as Taokaka. I soon found another person who played as her as well, someone much better who wrecked me. So, wanting to get better, I continued to play against him for a while. We sent a few messages and he actually turned out to be really cool, telling me that with each match I was getting better.

Anyway, that brings me to the discussion. While on xbox live you tend to mostly meet idiots and jerks, which makes meeting someone cool all the more special. Do you guys have any interesting stories of actually meeting nice people over xbox live?

Microsoft Starts Banning ODST Pirates, Not Players.

"No early play for you," he wrote. "Commencing permabans."

Toulouse later clarified on his Twitter that people who bought the game early and are playing it safe.

We contacted Toulouse for more details about how widespread the bannings are and how Microsoft is differentiating between legitimate owners of the game, which went on sale at at least one store early, and those who obtained the game through illegitimate means.

Toulouse told Kotaku that he can't go into specifics about how they detect and how many they ban because they don't want to tip off pirates to their methods.

"I can be clear however that this applies to illegitimate copies only, the ban covers the Xbox LIVE account and could possibly include their console depending on the results of our investigations (which are ongoing). We do this from time to time with titles to combat piracy," he wrote to Kotaku. "If a user happens to purchase a legit copy of Halo 3: ODST early, then our problem is not with the user but the retailer who broke the street date. Those individuals will not be punished."

360 Dropping The HD Requirement

Jefferies mentions that since more and more TV's are 1080p, his whole screen resolution "issue" will become less of a problem.

Two words: License Transfer.

That's what I hate about the 360 the most.
It's a given that most people will own one 360 in their lifetime, but it's a big pain in the :smas1poodooboo:ss.

Especially, if you need to do it twice in one year.

Only once a year, which sucks.

I was thinking of buying the Elite because of the price drop, but I would either need to buy everything again or have no game content.

I just wished they could have made the transferring easier.

Themed events may include objective gametypes, custom gametypes, themed weapons, forge maps, etc.

Personally I think a fun themed tournament or forging contest would be the most fun since we just had a doubles tournament.

Bungie Staying Away From Halo Series

So Fox posted this on my profile, and I figured it would be an interesting little article to share with everyone else. So basically what this is saying is that Bungie hasn't officially said they are done with Halo, but Lars implied that Reach could be their last Halo game.

So do you guys think Bungie will start making new games, keep making Halo games, or even take over a franchise that already exists in the gaming universe?

This game looks amazing. I just bought a points card to get it, but I haven't tried it out. I have read a few reviews and some critics are putting it on par with the Metroid series. The gameplay looks intense, the graphics are mind-boggling for an arcade game, and the story actually sounds interesting. The story is set in the novel Empire by Orson Scott Card. I'll post my thoughts once I play it, but I'm mostly posting this to get this game more exposure.

Molyneux announces Fable III at GamesCom, coming 2010

Peter Molyneux has just announced Fable III is coming later in 2010. You'll play as the son or daughter of your Fable II hero and start a revolution to become the ruler of Albion.

Molyneux teases: "I think there's something fundamentally wrong with role-playing games. Game like Fable ... it's been there since the early '80s." Won't say what he thinks it is yet. Will announce later.
"The race for the crown has begun." Tagline spoken by Zoe Wanamaker/Narrator.
Game takes place about 50 years after the first. You play as the child of the hero. Bowerstone has continued moving on and has become quite industrial. The game is not just about Albion this time.
Half the game will be spent trying to ascend to power. The game will not turn into a micromanagement RTS after that point. Judgment and Touch system will be used to influence the world.
Focus on story and drama in this iteration. Actors and writers have blocked entire scenes. Video shown of practice sessions.
Asks what type of kingdom will you have: poverty/greed, tyranny/compassion, progress/tradition?
On the way to the crown, players will make deals and promises to factions. The question is whether people will keep those promises once they're in power.
Players are a hero ruler -- Molyneux used the example of Star Trek or Caesar, that players won't just be sitting around once they rule Albion. They will still have adventures.
New gameplay mechanic: Judgment and Touch. Judgment allows the player to dictate the outcome of a situation. The example used was a girl who steals food is brought in front of the ruler. The player can judge her immediately or investigate. Touch will allow players to grab NPCs. Example used was running into a burning building to grab a child who wouldn't come otherwise. Now you can shake someone's hand or refuse to. Handshake leads to hug, to embrace, a "snog," and as for that last one, Molyneux "won't say where it'll lead." This will replace the expression system.
