NintendoPals' 20th Official MKW Tournament



Welcome racers, to the 20th Official MKW Tournament. It's been a while since an official one was made, and now, it has made a return.

Who may enter:

Only members in good standing, with their MKW friend code entered CORRECTLY into their profile may participate.

We reserve the right to disallow anyone, for any reason that we see fit.

**IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT**

-You will need a MINIMUM of 50 posts to be able to enter any of the official tournaments. We only want active members participating in them so that they run smoothly and on time.

How to enter:

All that you’ll need to do is post your name and friend code in this thread.

First come, first serve.

(2 alternates will be accepted, should there be any dropouts or if 2 members of the same bracket are disqualified)

Tournament Duration:

Entries will be accepted starting after the creation of this thread.

The tournament will begin as soon as all 16 entrants have been verified.

You have 7 days to play your match in each round.

The whole tournament should take NO LONGER than 28 days to finish, from beginning to end.

For those unable to register in time, once a tournament has finished, a new one will be up shortly after the previously completed tournament.

Disqualifications:

Ways for this to happen…

- Not attempting to get your match finished within the allotted time, due to procrastinating/not responding to your opponent.

- Using unnecessary profanity, or having poor sportsmanship. (Taunting/Bragging are fine by us, however keep it clean and make sure not to go overboard.

- Possessing multiple accounts.

- Arguing about anything with the Moderators.

- Cheating. (Still unknown as to what is possible)
Etc Etc. And.. You’ll honestly know what you’re being DQ’d for yourself.

Indiscretions

Report any of these to the Moderator running the tournament. Be ready to be able to prove what you are accusing someone of. There are various ways to do so.. Eg. Screen shots, save Pms, have a witness, and so on so forth.

In game rules/requirements

**RULES**

- 16 man tourney.
- 1 vs. 1 matches
- Game Type: VS Race.
- Stage selection will ALWAYS be random.
- Any character may be used.
- Karts and Bikes are allowed.
- After the 4 races are complete, the person with the most points wins.
- If there is a tie after the 4 races, a sudden death winner takes all race will take place.

Reporting your match

Post results in your tournament thread (duh). Both players should post too, one to report and the other to confirm (not required, but appreciated nonetheless).

Anyone caught lying will result in an immediate DQ from the tournament, and possible later ones.

Solve any disputes that you and your opponent may have first, before reporting. Talk to the Moderator in charge of THAT tournament.

Hello racers, to a tournament in which we roll out the big wheels..that's right, we're using the Heavy characters ;).

This tournament has been scheduled by the Tournament Hub. Please keep your eyes peeled on Tuesdays and Fridays, as we will have new tournaments :).

How to Enter:

Provide your FC, along with your Wi-Fi name, if you wish to.
First 16 participants are guaranteed entry, while there will be 4 reserves.

Rules:

-Races will be 1v1
-You may only choose Heavy characters, except Funky Kong
-Any Heavy Bike/Kart may be chosen except Flame Runner
-Courses must be random
-First to 3 wins, wins the match (1 GP with tie-break)
-No repeats allowed
-All matches should be completed within 7 days, no exceptions.

NOTE: Funky Kong and Flame Runner have been intentionally considered as unallowed in this tournament, since variety is to be promoted.

MKW Super League is a Mario Kart Wii tournament specializing in 1v1 races. The tournament is a stylized in the form of a sports competition like the NBA, NHL, EPL or any competition like it. Players play in a round robin phase like a "regular season" then the top half at the end of the competition will move on to the playoffs to determine the league champion.


Regular Season

• 10 players play each other once in a 1v1 match for a total of 9 matches
• Each match has 5 days to be completed to accommodate real life schedules
• Each match-up is one vs one 1-GP (4 races)
• Players can choose any track but cannot choose a track that has already been raced on (no repeated tracks)
• Any character or vehicle can be chosen
• No glitches, cheats, bad manners, etc.
  
• Super league wins are worth 2 points, draws are worth 1 points and 0 points for a loss
• Tiebreakers: Head to head, most track wins, least track losses
• When reporting results announce scores in track wins (ex. Player A 3-1 Player B or "I win 4-0")
• If a player(s) has been inactive for 5 days they will be replaced by a reserve player

Playoffs

• The top 5 players advance to the knockout stage
• There are 3 rounds in the knockout stage: Playoff, Semifinal and Grand Final
  • Playoff: 2nd place vs 5th place & 3rd place vs 4th place
    
  • Semifinal: winner of 2nd/5th vs winner of 3rd/4th
    
  • Grand Final: 1st place vs semifinal winner
• Each match has 5 days to be completed to accommodate real life schedules
• Each match-up is one vs one 2-GP (8 races)
  Players can choose any track but cannot choose a track that has already been raced on (no repeated tracks)
• Any character or vehicle can be chosen between the GPs
• No cheats, glitches, bad manners, etc.
  
• The first player to win 2 GPs or win 1 GP and tie the other, will win the match-up
• If both players won 1 GP each or tied both GPs then a sudden death race (not a GP) will be used to break the tie
• Players MUST choose "random" selection for the sudden death race
• Any character or vehicle can be chosen for the sudden death race

So if you would like to sign up for the league, just post your name and friend code. The first 9 players signed up will make it into the league and the next 4 players will be reserves.

Who may enter

Only members in good standing, with their MKW friend code entered CORRECTLY into their profile may participate.

-You will need a MINIMUM of 100 posts to be able to enter any of the official tournaments. We only want active members participating in them so that they run smoothly and on time. Please do not complain as this is how it will be for now.

-You may only be entered in 1 MKW tournament at a time. Meaning, if you participated in the 10th MKW tournament you MAY NOT enter.

How to enter

All that you’ll need to do is post your name and friend code in this thread.

When does each tournament start?

For an up to date schedule of all upcoming tournaments, check out the posted calendar. We try to keep the tournament for each active game regular, but there may be periods of time when the tournaments slow down slightly or change.


Can I get a tournament started for ‘so and so game’?

Generally speaking, tournaments will be running for all of the currently active games. If there’s a game that you have, and you want an official tournament to be hosted for it, show that that game has enough interest in the correct forum. Perhaps with a poll or a simple thread. A minimum of 8 Players are required before an official tournament can be started, any less and it just is not worth it.


How can I join these official tournaments, and what are the rules?

The specification to join each tournament, and the rules will be displayed in the first post of the tournament thread. One of the most basic rules that apply to all tournaments is that individuals are required to have a minimum post count before joining, usually around 40+ or 50+ posts.


What if I don’t think the rules are fair or I have a suggestion on how to make the tournament better?

Contact the host of the tournament to share your ideas or thoughts, it is entirely up to them if they change the rules or add your idea. All in all, if you don’t like the rules then don’t join the tournament.


I don’t have enough posts, can I still join?


The simple answer is no. On some rare occasions, it may be the case that you are one of the few people interested in that specific tournament, and so you will be allowed to join. V.I.P’s are exempt from the posts requirement rule.


Can I enter more then one tournament at the same time?

By default, yes, you can, unless the tournament specifically says otherwise. It is however your responsibility to meet the deadlines for each tournament that you have joined. In other words don’t join every or multiple tournaments if you cannot keep with them and/or finish them.


I don’t like this whole ‘first come first serve’ rule, I always miss the tournament because of that.

We’ve found that this is the best way to host a tournament, therefore that is the rule that we are sticking with. We can’t take reservations because not only would we be bombarded with messages every day, but then other members would never get the chance to participate in a tournament. There is a variety of tournaments offered, and at a steady enough rate to cater to everyone. To help you even more, there is the calendar so you can keep an eye out on an up coming tournament you may be interested in. Staff members are also from different regions and time zones, so you can expect that tournaments will be started at a variety of times for various regions.


How do I get disqualified (DQ) from a tournament?

There are a number of ways for this to happen, and each tournament will list these reasons in the first post of the tournament thread.

Some examples would be:

- Having multiple accounts.

- Lying about results.

- Cheating on the respective game.

- Arguing with whoever is in charge of that tournament.

-Being disrespectful to other members of the tournament.

- Various things deemed ‘stupid’ or ‘irresponsible’, as long as they are serious enough to warrant a DQ.

It’s usually pretty obvious when you’re doing something that would or should result in a DQ. If any person participating in a tournament has an issue with another person in the tournament (thinks they are cheating, are being harassed), contact the host of the tournament and it will be appropriately dealt with.


What is a Sub/reserve, and how do I become one?

These positions are given out for 2 main reasons:

- In case a tournament member drops out, the next reserve player in line can take their place, and allow the tournament to continue smoothly.

- It allows more members to be involved with a tournament. If you are subbed in, you get the chance to win the whole tournament.


What if I sign up for a tournament but can’t finish it and have to drop out?

Please give a lot of consideration into the time and effort you are going to have to put out before you sign up for a tournament. Once you are signed up and begin a tournament it is difficult to keep things running smoothly if people start to drop out and not finish matches. While it is understood that issues do come up and that sometimes it is just impossible to finish what you’ve started.
Please try your best to complete all of your assigned matches and to have respect for the other tournament members by finishing it.
