And there are alot of OLDER series that are getting new life on THIS Generation's consoles.

And Capcom DID release a NEW MegaMan, #9, with the look of the classic MegaMan games...

What about Nintendo releasing a NEW game for an older console??

"WHY??"

Why not?

I mean plenty of people still own NES's, SNES's, N64's--

Would you like to see a NEW game for one of those older consoles??

Donkey Kong 3

Donkey Kong 3 is the third video game in the original Donkey Kong series by Nintendo. Released near simultaneously for the Family Computer and arcade, and later released in America on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986. The game was re-released on the Wii Virtual Console in North America on July 14, 2008 and in Europe on January 9, 2009. Although it is a sequel, this title is a radical departure in gameplay from previous titles.

Story

Stanley is a bugman. Donkey Kong has taken refuge in his greenhouse and it is now up to him to stop the ape from stirring up any more insects that will soon destroy his flowers.

Gameplay

The game is a simplistic shooter which actually incorporates many ideas from an older game entitled Space Firebird and adapts them into a new setting, which consists of only three repeating rounds, requiring the player to defend flowers as the objective rather than have any specific long-term goal in mind. Throughout the levels are scattered various enemies: Buzzbees, beespies, queen bees (which shatter into deadly pieces when destroyed), creepy caterpillars, butterflies, beetles, moths, beebombs and vine eaters. Stanley, who wears suspenders similar to the previous protagonist, Mario, must destroy the insects as they attempt to steal his flowers. Donkey Kong himself hangs from two vines at the top of the screen. Continuously using bug-spray on him will force him upwards and eventually to the top of the screen to complete the level. Killing all the bugs will also cause Donkey Kong to exit the screen and the game will go to next level. Typically, the vine grasped by Donkey Kong's left hand holds the super spray can, which will drop to the ground if the ape climbs high enough that his hand knocks it loose; this spray can forces Donkey Kong upwards at a much faster rate than the standard version, but it only lasts for a certain number of shots and only appears at the start of each "life".

([size=1]Courtesy of wikipedia[/size)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Has anyone Downloaded this--or played it?

It looks kinda cool--and its so unlike the OTHER "DK" games on NES/Arcade.

If YOU need any help for SUPER MARIO BROS 2 Lemme know.

--To save ANY confusion--

-YES, Super Mario Bros 2, was ORIGINALLY a game called "DOKI DOKI PANIC"--but the sprites were changed to "Mario Bros" sprites--the REAL (Japanese)"SMB2" was "SMB: Lost Levels"--and the one we all call SMB2 was released in Japan as "Super Mario USA"-

Here's a Quick Guide of the BOSSES and Warp Pipes:
WORLD 1

1-3:
(Warp Pipe): Once you pull a Magic Potion out of the ground--head right to the Vase thats just past the Brick Wall, use the Potion, and enter the door--then jump on the Vase, and enter it--you'll WARP to World 4
(Boss): You'll fight MOUSER--throw 3 Bombs at him to defeat him

WORLD 2

2-3:
(Boss): You'll face Tryclyde at the end of this level--there are Mushroom Blocks, use 3 of them to throw at Tryclyde(3 destroys him), use the others to build a "Wall" to protect you from his fireballs

WORLD 3

3-1:
(Warp Pipe):Enter the first door, and jump down the Waterfall--staying in the center of the screen, and you'll land safely near another Door--Inside grab the 10TH Clump of grass(a Potion)--take the Potion to the Vase which is a bit further ahead--use the Potion, enter the Door, and go down the Vase--to Warp to WORLD 5

3-3:
(Boss): This time Mouser is back--but it'll take 5 Bombs to kill him

WORLD 4

4-2:
(Warp Pipe): After the first group of Whales, grab a Potion from the 7TH Grass Clump--You'll have to carry it a while till you find a Vase--use Potion/enter Door--go down Vase--and you Warp to World 6

4-3:
(Boss):FRYGUY!!--Use 3 Mushroom Blocks to defeat him--but wait! He'll split into 4 smaller "Fry babies"--use the Mushroom Blocks to K.O. each one

WORLD 5

5-3:
(Warp Pipe): (best character for the level--LUIGI)--At the Start of the level, climb the ladder then POWER JUMP up to the Vase. Pull the right clump to get the Potion--Potion--Door--WARP, this time STRAIGHT to World 7!

(Boss):The dreaded CLAWGRIP--He'll chuck Rocks at you, and timing is everything at grabbing them in mid-air--best to get the "pattern" of how he throws them down--some will go right to where you can get em'--but some fall down the hole too soon--and it'll take 5 Rocks to kill him--(thankfully SMB2 has no Time Limit)

WORLD 6

6-3:
(Boss): Once you get to the end of the Level--you'll meet back up with Tryclyde--only this time it'll take 5 Mushroom Blocks to kill Him.

WORLD 7
(The FINAL World in the game--and only 2 Levels in it)

7-2:
SHOWDOWN W/ WART!
Once you make it through the madness, and melee that is Wart's Palace--you'll come FACE-TO-FACE with the evil Amphibian.
He'll spit out Bubbles(that DO hurt)--you'll notice right infront of Wart is the "Key to Victory", the "DREAM MACHINE"--which will launch out Veggies--that are your Ammo.
It'll take 5 Veggies to kill Wart--but not just hurling them at Wart will take him down--you have to TIME your throws, and AIM them at his mouth when he opens it to spit up more bubbles--if you can get 5 Veggies in his mouth---and you'll know when you're successful in doing so--He'll be defeated.

WHEN THE GAME ENDS:
Which ever character you played as in the fight against Wart, will enter a room with a big Vase in it--he or she will hop on the vase, and pop the cork out--freeing the 8 trapped Sub-Con's(the little winged cherubs)--the next screen shows the 4 Heroes being cheered at by a bunch of greatful Sub-Cons who then you'll see them drag a defeated and frozen Wart off to the right--where he's taken care of(off screen)--
Then the "Dream" is over--and you'll see a Sleeping Mario snoring, and dreaming of the Victory--

Then the Credits will roll.

--There are actually 2 screw-ups in the Credits--
"OSTRO"--the Ostrich that's ridden by Shyguys in certain levels, and "BIRDO"--the Gender-confused Pink/Red/Green egg-spewer--have their names switched(which lead to alot of confusion)
and "CLAWGRIP" the Crab--is misspelled in the credits, as "CLAWGLIP

----------------

If YOU need help in the game, lemme know.

Anyone need ANY help for Super Mario World?

Like how to get to Star Road, or SPECIAL?

How to defeat Bowser?

Or ANYTHING?

Lemme know.

Zwei wanted to know how to get to STAR ROAD

Well there are 5 "Entrances" or STAR Gates to STAR ROAD--the FIRST one is in Donut Plains.
---Before the End Gate in Donut Plains 1, there is a row of Green "!" Blocks, run up those, and you'll find a KEY--(secret exit)
--That'll take you to Donut Secret 1(a WATER level)--defeat that by finding the KEY, and then you'll go to Donut Secret Ghst House
---After you pass the first area, make it to the far LEFT end of the second area, and you'll find a P-Block, run over to where there is a row of "?" coin blocks, hit the P-Switch, and the hit the middle block (above the WHITE Door--don't go in it) a Vine will come out, climb the vine and quickly run to the right where a SECOND White Door will be--ENTER IT.
Then a Big Boo will show up, and you'll need to hit it 3 times with the white blocks--once he's defeated you'll have the FIRST Star Road gate

--I think i have a thread like this, but I'm not sure--

SUPER MARIO BROS: LOST LEVELS

If ANYONE needs help in SMB:LL, post your questions here.

World 1

1-2
There are three warp zones in this level.

1. After the second pipe, above the Buzzy Beetle, there is a hidden block. After you hit that, jump on it and hit the first block on your right to sprout a vine. The vine leads to a warp to World 3.
2. Use the elevators at the end to jump over the end pipe. All the way to the right is a warp to World 2.
3. Jump over the end pipe, then go down the first pipe on the other side. Don't go down any more pipes, and eventually you'll come to a big wall. Jump around to reveal two hidden blocks that will serve as a staircase. Over the wall is a warp to World 4.

1-4
Kill Bowser with five fireballs and you'll see that he was really a Goomba.

World 2

2-2
To reach the high pipe, you'll have to jump around to reveal two hidden blocks.

2-3
This level is reminiscent of 2-3 in the first Super Mario Bros. Keep moving!

2-4
After the big lava pit, there is a hidden block containing a power-up next to the wall.
Bowser is really a Koopa Troopa.

World 3

3-1
The first pipe leads to a negative warp zone! Don't take it unless you want to go back to World 1.

3-4
This level is a maze. To get through, follow this path: bottom, bottom, top, top.
Bowser is really a Buzzy Beetle.

World 4

4-4
Bowser is really a Spiny.

World 5

5-1
The vine in this level leads to a warp to World 6.

5-2
Two warp zones here:

1. Jump over the end pipe, and you can warp to World 7.
2. Find the part where there is an upside-down staircase of blocks, and elevators to your right. Use the first elevator to hit the highest block in the staircase, then climb the vine that comes out. From there you can warp to World 8.

5-3
Yes, you have to get into the high pipe. Use the Red Parakoopas as steps.

5-4
Bowser is really a Lakitu.

World 6

6-4
Another maze! Go down under the fire bar, then take the top route, then bottom, and bottom again.
Bowser is really a Bloober.

World 7

7-4
The fire bars near the end leave little room for error. Duck in the corners and you won't get hit.
Bowser is really a Hammer Brother.

World 8

8-1
The third upright pipe warps you back to World 5.

8-2
The flagpole is not where you'd expect! You have to find the vine before you can find the flagpole...

8-4
Some parts of this level are a maze... Go down the first pipe. At the part with the elevator over lava with a fire bar to your right, you have to stay on the bottom route below the fire bar.
Bowser is really... Bowser!

World 9

If you've beaten 1-1 through 8-4 without warping, you'll find the "bonus" World 9.
(World 9 is a WATER WORLD--with 3 levels completely underwater)

9-3
This is the LONE above ground level in World 9--You'll fight Bowser in this level as well

9-4
The blocks in the water form the Japanese word "arigatou!" which means "thank you!". And there is no Bowser here... woo!

World A

A-2
Jump over the end pipe, and you can warp to World B.

A-3
Jump over the flagpole, and you can warp to World C.

A-4
Bowser is really a red Koopa Troopa.

World B

B-4
Go down the last pipe before Bowser, and you can warp to World D.
Bowser is really a Cheep-Cheep.

World C

C-4
If you are small, you'll need to get the hidden power-up near the beginning and stay big up to the part where it's hard to pass without getting hit.
Bowser is really a Bullet Bill.

World D

D-4
Although this level is a harder version of 8-4, it is not a maze, so don't bother going down the first pipe.
Bowser is really... Bowser!

Eager to show its disconnected patrons that their Wiis can do more than Wii Sports -- you don't even have to eject the disc! -- Nintendo has appointed pretty much anyone in Europe savvy enough to visit Wii's Connection Settings menu an "Ambassador." Here's how the "Connection Ambassador Promotion" works: Beginning in October (as seen in Japan), if you help another Wii owner establish an online connection, you and your incompetent friend will both receive five Nintendo bucks (500 Wii Points). (Presumably, when connecting for the first time, there will be an option to credit an Ambassador.)

And if you extend your services to the maximum of twenty previously offline console owners? You're looking at a 10,000-point payout ($100 worth of old games you probably have tucked away in cart form, plus all those WiiWare options) -- not bad, eh?

But wait! There's a more tempting perk to this promotion. As Ambassador, once you connect ten users, you'll achieve "gold status" and be free to download all first-party NES titles on Virtual Console. Oh, but it gets far better: Hit your twenty connections and -- you guessed it -- you've attained "platinum status," essentially granting you the keys to Nintendo's Virtual Console catalog. That's right, all first- and third-party NES, SNES and N64 games -- for free.

Quick! Google map the twenty nearest old folks homes and get ambassadoring!
Sauce

Okay, so realistically, I'd like to see anyone that personally knows even 10 clueless Wii owners to acheive this status, but wow... EVERY Nintendo-console VC game for free? :G

I guess you can dream... ;_;

Super Nintendo Entertainment System classic Super Star Wars hits the Wii's Virtual Consol today for 800 points, kicking off a month of Star Wars releases and content for Nintendo's console.

Both Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi are set to hit the virtual console in coming weeks for 800 Wii points each, Nintendo says.

The arrival of the three games will be accompanied by additional Star Wars-themed content for other Wii channels throughout the week. The Check Mii Out Channel will have a Star Wars character creation contest, while on the Everybody Votes Channel users can vote on Star Wars related questions.

"Our expanded partnership with LucasArts brings the Star Wars and Nintendo universes together," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "These three Super Star Wars games represent fantastic additions to the growing Virtual Console library, and the exclusive Star Wars content on the other Wii Menu channels is sure to have people from different generations having fun and interacting with one another."

And this is just the beginning, with Nintendo saying that additional LucasArts games will be announced for the Virtual Console in the future.

"Virtual Console on Wii is a great way to make these games available to our fans again, and it's an awesome opportunity to expose our classic console titles to an entirely new audience," said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts.
Today, we're jealous of European gamers, for one reason: The Revenge of Shinobi. The totally awesome Shinobi sequel isn't on the Virtual Console in North America, and it isn't on the Sega Genesis Collection or Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. presumably due to the appearance of copyrighted characters (some of which were included without permission the first time!). We could totally be playing it now if we were in Europe (or Australia). Hopefully this release means that Sega is clear to release it in North America as well.
Sauce

OMG. I used to LOVE this game. :G

I love you Sega. You're nice to Europe unlike Nintendo. I'm so glad Mega Drive beat SNES in Europe. ^_^

Resident Evil Gaiden is a Resident Evil video game featured on the Game Boy Color handheld console, and is the only one in the series so far which features Barry Burton as the main character. Although the word 'gaiden' suggests it is a "side story", the game's events are not acknowledged anywhere else in the series. It was developed by the now defunct company M4 Ltd. Shinji Mikami was involved in the game's development.
RELEASE DATE(S):

Plot

Story

After the events in Raccoon City, an underground anti-Umbrella organization forms to put an end to Umbrella. Leon is sent to investigate the ocean liner Starlight which is rumored to be carrying a new Bio-Organic Weapon (BOW) developed by Umbrella, but eventually contact is lost with him.

The player takes the role of Barry, who is sent to complete Leon's mission. After discovering that everyone on the ship is a zombie, he finds a girl named Lucia. Barry runs to the deck which Lucia is on after hearing her screams and finds her being chased by a BOW which is the cause of the infection. After fighting and escaping the BOW, Lucia is kidnapped by the BOW

Barry then finds Leon unconscious and wakes him up. Barry and Leon cooperate to find Lucia. They find her being held by the BOW. They fight the BOW and save her before hearing an explosion. The ship starts sinking and fire is spreading throughout the ship. Barry runs to communicate with their headquarters to send them a helicopter while Leon and Lucia activate the sprinkler system.

After they activate it they hear Barry trying to sell the girl to Umbrella. Leon and Lucia find Barry. Barry threatens Leon with a gun to give him Lucia. Lucia goes with Barry and they both escape on an Umbrella submarine and leave Leon on the sinking Starlight. Leon goes to the engine room and damages the BOW before he destroys the ship and evidence of the outbreak.

In the submarine, the captain asks Barry to give him Lucia. He then finds that she has a parasite which will mature in 10 days and create a new BOW. He threatens Lucia and asks them to remove the parasite. The captain agrees and they remove the parasite.

The parasite manages to escape the jar which it is held and infects everyone on the submarine. They discover the BOW inside the submarine and they escape from it sealing it in the bay. Barry takes the submarine and heads to the near-sunk Starlight to find Leon. There they find Leon but it soon turns out that it is the BOW and it attacks them. After the fight they find the real Leon and they run over the deck where the helicopter is. There they fight the BOW before leaving the Starlight.

The game ends with Leon's neck bleeding green from a small wound.

Characters

* Leon S. Kennedy: Ex-Raccoon Police Department police officer, Leon is now part of an anti-Umbrella group. He is sent in first to investigate the mysterious ocean liner Starlight.
* Barry Burton: Formerly of STARS, Barry has been sent to the Starlight to find out why HQ lost contact with Leon, and to find evidence about a new BOW developed by the Umbrella Corporation.
* Lucia: A mysterious young girl found on the ship, she has the newly developed Umbrella BOW inside her body.

Gameplay

Gaiden is the only game in the Resident Evil series that changes the gameplay from third person view to an overhead view. When encountering a zombie with no means of escape the player needs to aim for the zombie and enter the battle zone. This is where the gameplay changes, the player goes for over-the-head view to first-person view.

(Courtesy of wikipedia.org)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

So has anyone ever heard of this game?

I didn't know much on it until I got an issue of "Game Informer" a year or so ago.

Sounds kinda cool--especially the way the story plays out...and the ending seems kinda "WTF?"

When I was little, I would always notice a copy of the Megaman 64 game available to rent at the used-to-be Video Safari. I never rented the game, yet neither, it seemed, did anyone else. It would always sit there, as if "waiting" for me to rent it. I never did though. Now it's become one of my biggest regrets, as I hear or read every now and then that the game gets such high praise from many gamers, now I'm interested more than ever to play it...but I don't have a copy to play :( Now I anxiously wait for it to be released on VC(or PSN,whichever comes first)

STREET FIGHTER (1)

Street Fighter (ストリートファイター, Sutorīto Faitā?) is a 1987 arcade game developed by Capcom. It is the first competitive fighting game produced by the company and the inaugural game in the Street Fighter series. While it did not achieve the same popularity as its sequels (particularly Street Fighter II) when it was first released, the original Street Fighter introduced some of the conventions made standard in later games, such as attack buttons and special command based techniques.

A port for the TurboGrafx-CD console was released under the title Fighting Street (ファイティングストリート, Faitingu Sutorīto?) in 1988.

GAMEPLAY

The player competes in a series of one-on-one matches against a series of computer-controlled opponents or in a single match against another player. Each match is a series of rounds in which the player must defeat their opponent in less than 30 seconds. If a match ends before a fighter is knocked out, then the fighter with the greater amount of energy left will be declared the round's winner. The player must win two rounds in order to defeat their opponent and proceed to the next battle. If the third round ends in a tie, then the computer-controlled opponent will win by default or both players will lose. During the single-player mode, the player can continue after losing and fight against the opponent they lost the match to. Likewise, a second player can interrupt a single-player match and challenge the first player to a new match.

The player's controls consist of a standard eight-way directional joystick, and (when originally shipped as a non-JAMMA "custom" upright) the punch and kick actions were controlled by two large, unique mechatronic pads that returned an analog value depending on how hard the player actuated the control. Due to player confusion these custom controls were soon replaced with an array of six attack buttons, three punch buttons and three kick buttons of different speed and strength (Light, Medium and Heavy).

The player uses the joystick to move towards or away from an opponent, as well to jump, crouch and defend against an opponent's attacks. By using the attack buttons/pads in combination with the joystick, the player can perform a variety of attacks from a standing, jumping or crouching positions. There's also three special techniques which can only be performed by inputting a specific directional-based command and button combination. These techniques are the Psycho Fire (波動拳, Hadōken?, "Surge Fist"), the Dragon Punch (昇龍拳, Shoryūken?, "Rising Dragon Fist") and the Hurricane Kick (竜巻旋風脚, Tatsumaki Senpū Kyaku?, "Tornado Whirlwind Kick"). Unlike the subsequent Street Fighter sequels and other later fighting games, the specific commands for these special moves are not given in the arcade game's instruction card, which instead encouraged the player to discover these techniques on their own.

CHARACTERS

The player takes control of a Japanese martial artist named Ryu, who competes in an international martial arts tournament to prove his strength. The second player takes control of Ryu's former training partner and rival Ken, who challenges Ryu in the game's 2-player matches. Normally the player takes control of Ryu in the single-player mode, however if the player controlling Ken defeats Ryu in a 2-player match, then the winning player will play the remainder of the game as Ken. The difference between the characters are aesthetics and both of them have the same moves and techniques.

The single-player mode consists of a series of battles against ten opponents from five different nations. At the beginning of the game, the player can choose the country where their first match will take place: the available choices are Japan or the US, as well as China or England (depending on the DIP switch setting). The player will then proceed to fight against the nation's two representing opponents, before proceeding to the next country. In addition to the regular battles, there also two types of bonus games which player can compete for additional points: a table breaking bonus game and a brick breaking bonus game. After defeating the initial eight, the player will travel to Thailand to fight against the final two opponents.

The ten computer controlled opponents are

* From Japan
o Retsu, an excommunicated Shorinji Kempo instructor.
o Geki, a claw-wielding ninja.
    * From the United States
o Joe, an underground martial art champion.
o Mike, a former heavyweight boxer who once killed an opponent in the ring.
* From China
o Lee, an expert in Chinese martial arts.
o Gen, an elderly professional killer who has developed his own murderous martial art style.
* From England
o Birdie, a tall bouncer who uses a combination of wrestling and boxing techniques.
o Eagle, a club-wielding bodyguard of a wealthy family.
  * From Thailand
o Adon, the number one disciple of the "Emperor of Muay Thai".
o Sagat, the reputed "Emperor of Muay Thai" and the game's final opponent.

DEVELOPMENT

Street Fighter was directed by Takashi Nishiyama (who is credited as "Piston Takashi" in the game) and planned by Hiroshi Matsumoto (credited as "Finish Hiroshi"), who both previously worked on the overhead beat 'em up Avengers. The two men would leave Capcom after the production of the game and were employed by SNK, developing most of their fighting game series (including sequels to Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting). The duo would later work for Dimps and work on Street Fighter IV with Capcom.

ARCADE VERSIONS

Two different arcade cabinets were sold for the game: a Regular version (which was sold as a tabletop cabinet in Japan and as an upright overseas) that featured the same six button configuration later used in Street Fighter II and a Deluxe cabinet that features two-pressure sensitive pads. The pressure-sensitive pads determine the strength and speed of the player's attacks based on how hard they were pressed.

In the American and Worldwide versions of the game, Ryu's and Ken's voices were dubbed so that they yelled the names of their moves in English (i.e: Psycho Fire, Dragon Punch, Hurricane Kick). The localizations of the subsequent games left the characters' voices in their original Japanese language; Street Fighter IV has English voice acting, although characters from Asia still use Japanese names for certain special moves amidst otherwise English dialogue.

PORTS

* Street Fighter was ported under the changed title Fighting Street for the TurboGrafx-CD and released in 1988. This version features an arranged soundtrack. Due to the lack of a six-button controller available for the TurboGrafx-16 at the time this version was released, the strength level of the attacks were determined by how long either of the action buttons were held. This version was published by NEC Avenue in North America and Hudson Soft in Japan and was developed by Alfa System.

* Versions of Street Fighters for the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, DOS, Amiga and Atari ST were published by U.S. Gold in 1988 in Europe. These ports were developed by Tiertex. Shortly afterward, Tiertex developed their own unofficial sequel titled Human Killing Machine, which was entirely unrelated to the subsequent official sequel or indeed any other game in the series.

* An emulation of the original arcade version is featured in Capcom Arcade Hits Volume 1 (along with Street Fighter II': Champion Edition) for Windows PC, Capcom Classics Collection Remixed for the PlayStation Portable and Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2 (along with Super Street Fighter II Turbo) for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox.

Portable 8-Bit Gaming Dream Realized

Way back in 1985 what would you have been willing to give for a handheld NES? Your full collection of Garbage Pail Kids cards maybe?... or how about your old Atari 2600 and a sealed copy of ET? Well now now thanks to the discriminating product monkeys at ThinkGeek all you need is half a Benjamin and some old NES cartridges to achieve portable gaming Nirvana. Thats right, the Retro Mini Handheld plays all the classic 8-bit NES games you grew up with and looks pretty darn sweet with the old style giant cartridge protruding from the top.

Simply pop in 4 AA batteries and jack in your favorite original NES cartridge. The built in hi-res LCD screen looks a hell of a lot better than your old crappy TV, plus the Retro Mini comes with AV out cables to connect with your newfangled flatscreen if you so desire.
