WiiWebix: Online Desktop Environment for Wii Browser

About a year ago I started development on a project for the Wii's Internet Channel to give it more functionality, such as multiple windows, copy-paste, applications, etc. I stopped working on it for a while due to low interests in it, but now I've picked it up again. I've given it a new redesign over the last few weeks, I call it WiiWebix.

It is designed to be used like a online desktop environment for the Wii's web browser, I lightly themed it off of Linux Ubuntu, using drop-downs to display options. it uses multiple pop-up windows inside a web page to browse the web or use "applications" (web link shortcuts), these windows can be freely moved, minimized, resized, and closed at anytime. I borrowed a few scripts combined with my own to create this.

Current features are:

Drop-down interface, all options are located at the top of the page.
5 window browsers, use them to browse the web.
Shortcut links to YouTube XL and Finetune Wii Player, to watch videos and/or listen to music while you browse.
Some Wii friendly games.
eBuddy Lite Messenger, one of few IMs that works on Wii.

It's current status is: beta v0.1

I believe I've fixed most of the bugs to release it for public use. I'm offering it exclusively here for anyone to try out, mainly Wii users. I appreciate any comments, suggestions, bug reports, feature requests, etc. If it gets continued use, I'll keep making updates to it.

Black screen of death?

my mom's computer wasnt loading, it showed "toshiba" on the start up screen then the screen went black and did nothing. I cut it off and it went green for about 0.1 sec then cut off

It started when she went to go bott up her computer and that happend randomly. she has contacted a "computer speicalist" :roll: and he said it cost $150 for a repair but my mom would rather buy a new computer. Any help

Wii. Brawl, friend fun isn't alound

Problem.) After conecting to the internet on brawl, all friends read offline even though they clame to be online. I brawled them before and both parties have the internet and have NOT deleted the other's friend codes.
The only thing is, I can still brawl in the "Brawl anyone" area of the game. Before I saw them go online and was just unable to conect, but now I can't even see them online.
Nothing has been changed on the router and it's only "Brawl with friends" on brawl that is efected.
This all just started this morning, and I brawled a friend late yesterday

I've been told to let it sit and it'll fix it's self, but I was asking to see if there anything I can do becouse this problem sounds extreamly dumb

hotspot trouble

theres this hotspot ive found called bt openzone which is partned with nintendo.
the signal is great but for some reason its not letting me connect.
its always error codes 52100 or 20100.

Atari 2600.. Any hard modding or hacks I can do to the system?

Hello, Wiipals. I am currently having a problem with my Wii. My wii shuts down every 30 minutes when I am playing a wii game. When I play a gamecube game like Sonic Battle 2, it stays on for a full 24 hours. I can't seem to figure out what is wrong with it. I do not want to sell my wii and get another one because it was the last thing my father gave me before he passed. I will cherish this wii because of that reason and will do anything to make it start working again. The last 2 things I did was take my wii's plug and exchange it, (because it cut off every 30 minutes and my dog chewed it) then I changed where the wii is plugged up at. The wii actually took down the power in my basement! Ever since my dad passed, I haven't got any new systems. My mom won't pay over $80 for stupid stuff like that. I'm scared. Please help. :G:G:G

Recently on my ds I was trying to play pokemon when I saved turned it off after it was done saving then restarted it later only for it to go to a blue screen (in the pokemon soul silver game) and say the saved file has been erased due to corruption or damage and then it goes to the beginning of the game at the start,

I am looking online for a solution and ppl say there is a way to restore it but I can't find a way to do it please help I've got so much stuff I'm freaking out FREAKING OUT!!!!!!! >:[__________^]

I'm a heavy user of the Wii's Internet Browser, because I don't have anything else to access the internet... (I'm using it as of now, typing it all from my keyboard...) I've been wondering, as I get on all kinds of different sites (like DeviantART, GMail, FurAffinity, and obviously, here...) it sometimes log me out of each and every one of my accounts, after a certain time... why does this happen, and how can I keep logged-in? I do click the "Remember Me" checkboxes on every account I have, but it still doesn't act like it remembers when I log back in the next day...
I dunno, but it might be that the Wii's browser don't save internet cookies or something like that...

So yeah, i deleted the option bar thats at the top (or lower, your choice) you know, the one that displays Volume, Battery, Wireless Setting, Shutting Down, ect.
i managed to get the power off icon on, but i dont know how to add the others.
It really sucks 'cause i cant go online. in fact i cant now. im using this old method called "Wired Internet Connection"
So yeah, help?

PS3 Freeze Issue

So I'm use to my PS3 freezing. It doesnt happen all the time.
But yesterday n today it froze. but when I go to turn the power off (it will beeb then turn off) it wont turn off. I have to unplug it.
Today when it happend I was just sitting at my friends list. My Handle was off. went to turn it on, n it wouldnt. Now the system wasnt frozen cuz the PSN new was still scrolling by. So I turned it off n same issue happend.
Now I'm a lil worried cuz this is a new prob.
the Freezing is normal I guess for Slims.

Any ideas? should I be worried?

Screwed up GCN controllers: worth throwing away?

Ok, so I have a total of five GameCube controllers, but three of them are screwed up. Here are pictures I just took of said controllers; they were tested in LoZ: Wind Waker:

So yeah, anyone have any tips? Should I keep these, or throw them away? My graduation/18th birthday party is next Saturday, and my mom said I can ask for some new GCN controllers to replace my broken ones.

Ok well this has been happening for awhile lately, if i try to go to something that has to do with using the wii mote i can't get no motion to show on the screen (the little pointer hand won't show) If i got to the internet channel its like it can't sense the the wii mote, same with the Mii channel. it still works on the home page but that's about it. i don't know why it sunddenly has done this, and does anyone know a way to fix this?

So side things,
i use a rechargeable wii battery pack, but it still worked with this battery pack for months since i had it.

I have tried many time changing the sensitivity of the wii mote to the sensor bar in the wii setting.

ALSO if i updated the wii, it wouldn't have made it to where i need the motion PLUS to work correctly, right? that's to just to make it work stronger on the way you move the wii mote....

My woo has some serious problems apparently. It doesn't read discs and someone thinks it might need either a new laser or hard drive (I don't get the hard drie part). So, if I got a new hard drive, would all my memory on games and such be gone as well?

My LG GW 330 has stopped connecting to the internet, when I go to Yahoo! search and type in my web address it comes up with "Connection Failed" I have tried turning it off then on again. It doesnt solve the problem

Hi its homieG here and for some reason i cant connect to certain people i think there is something wrong with my router as nintendo says but i dont know what.

Error Code: 86420

This error occurs when there is a communication problem between players during online gameplay.

Try this:

If your router's security software (firewall) is turned on, it may block communication that is required for online gameplay. To fix this, try disabling the router's firewall*.
Most firewall settings are located under the "Advanced" or "Security" tab.

If the problem still persists with the firewall off, you may need to open ports on your router through the Port Forwarding feature.
Create a manual connection on your Nintendo DS and assign a static IP Address.
Open ports 1 through 65535 as both TCP and UDP.
Ensure the ports are forwarded to the same IP Address given to the Nintendo DS system during the manual setup.
Trouble connecting to a friend?
If the above steps have not resolved the issue and you are trying to connect with specific friends, the problem could potentially be an issue on your friend's network. Your friend will have to perform these troubleshooting steps with their home network.

Using USB Connector or Lan Adapter? Please call 1-800-255-3700 so that we can assist you further.

*While Nintendo provides this information for our consumers' use, it is up to each consumer to determine what security needs they have for their own networks, and to decide how best to configure their network settings to meet those needs.

DS Help (top Screen)

I got my DS when it first came out (so yeah the old version).

I had it with me for a good few years, I accidently dropped it a few times throughout the years (2-3 time to be somewhat exact).
but that's not the problem though, since it still works after those incidents.

My problem it whenever i turn on my DS, just in general or when i'm playing a game, my top screen would flicker till it turns completely white. my bottom screen is good, but my top screen seem to be giving out on me.

I would use to just click the screen back then forth, then i get the image back, and sometimes it would have to meddle with it until it show's again, however that doesn't seem to work anymore, although i can still play games sometimes.

I'm afraid someday soon the screen will just go out on me and nothing i do will do the trick anymore.

Now I'm hopping is someone could provide a clue/hint as to what i should do.

My wii has not been reading disks for a while now. Every time I try to load a game my wii makes a clack-clack noise like it's trying to read the disk but it never spins up. I bought a tri-wing screwdriver and im going to open it up to try and find out what the problem is. This problem started when i was playing brawl. It randomly gave me the error "please eject the disk and turn of the console, etc." So i tried again and got the same results. The third time i tried it didnt even spin, just said that the disk could not be read. I'm hoping someone has a suggestion on what the problem might be. (myself i think it might be the laser)

I have Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers for ps2, and i play it on my ps3, however, the movies which the game has in it doesn't appear on the ps3, it appears black. I'm sure there are settings which can change this and make the movies appear. I'm sure the game is working perfectly fine as the gameplay is amazing.

I think i have some settings mixed up, therefore the movie won't come up, if anyone can help, thanks!

SD Card Support -> Rock Band 2 DLC

My brother and I have played Rock Band 2 since we got it two years ago, and we have had almost no trouble until Nintendo fixed our Wii's disc reading errors. Shortly afterward, our Rock Band 2 game deleted itself. All we had left was our 138 blocks of DLC songs.

We created a new save file, only to have it erase itself two days later. Aside from this recurring problem, we were unable to use the SD card to back up any more DLC songs, causing us to have to download them (not purchase) every time we wanted to play them.

A few days ago, I bought an 4GB SD card for my DSi. This memory card is supposed to work on the Wii as well. While I was able to move the 138 blocks of DLC content to my new SD card, when I loaded Rock Band 2, I received a message that claimed the device in the SD card slot was not supported and I was unable to use any of the DLC songs.

My first question: Is there any obvious reason Rock Band 2 continuously deletes itself when no other game does?

My second question: How can I use all of my DLC songs on one memory card?

ok, so heres the thing, my Toshiba Satellite M35X-S114, running on Ubuntu 8.10 (Hardy Heron i think) has a few problems.
before this week, it had only a single problem, occasionally, when booting it didnt boot.
usually it said

and then the Ubuntu bar loading, then log on screen.
after a few weeks, it started to say

did nothing. i had to turn it off and hit it violently. xD
and until recently, i press the power button and the Power LEDs turn on, Fan Turned on, and nothing else. The "Hard drive" LEDs dont blick though...
until yesterday, i turned it off a few times, and it booted, but now nothing!
i tried:
pulling the HD off, plugged it back it.
hitting it
removing the battery and letting it drain
hitting it
powering on with the power supply
hitting it
hitting it some more

so yeah, what else can i do? i love my laptop, i would want to hit it so much that it explodes D=

ok so remember the thread i made about my internet being slow? well now it doesnt work. For the last three weeks my computer has been overheating, lagging mouse and internet going out frequently. Question: if I charge the DSi while it's on, does that decrease the battery life? I know that charging my phone while it's on makes the battery die quicker... My phone battery only lasts a day now when it used to last four... Does that happen to the DSi, too?

Well, brawl doesnt work for my Wii very much (and my GC games). When the game starts, ill get a green screen saying "Please eject the game disc and turn off the power" and wont work. I want to send in my wii, but I dont know how to destroy ALL traces of hacks and mods off my wii :(

1. Why my wii is so loud when it tries to read a disc xD

2. Why it wont read Brawl, or any Gamecube games very well

My liveonecare recently expired, and with it the easy way to simply turn off the firewall and go online to wifi. I had Norton Symantec 360 installed, and man is it confusing haha. Well anyway, can someone please help and tell me what to do so that my nintendo wifi usb connector will be able to connect to it without failing? (btw I've already tried disabling antivirus auto-protect and smart firewall, and adding the usb to my network map, but none of it worked)

DS Lite (Top Screen White)

I've had my DS lite for two ~ three(ish) years and about four months ago, the top screen started to go white. It fades to white, but not completely. I was thinking it was probably dropped and the wires popped out or something. The screen isn't cracked or anything. It had a one-year warranty but I think it already expired but would I have to send it to Nintendo to get it repaired or can I / should I ask for a trade in. (I'm not sure if they do trade - in's with broken technology though..)

WiFi problems with Wii and DS

The WiFi works with my PS3, Xbox, phone, and laptop So why not my DS/Wii?

I always get the error code 862420 (or something. The first 3 numbers usually vary but the "420" (LOL) part is constant. The problem isn't connecting to WiFi itself. That works perfectly. The problem is than when I try to play with someone (Ex: Battle someone on Pokemon or join a Brawl match. Same goes if they try battling me/joining my Brawl.), there's a D/C. If I try to join their game/battle, I get D/C. If they try to join my battle/game, they get D/C.
Help pl0x?

Removing my security and firewall didn't do anything to help BTW.

1) Right click a clear space on the desktop.

2)Click on Personalize

3) To find the recycling bin click on "Change Desktop Icons"

4)In the "Desktop Icons" box click on the box next to "Recycle Bin"

5)Click "Apply" then "OK"

After successfully removing a couple of trojans from my computer, it still does not let me reboot. I keep getting an error about how C:/I386/DRV/DTA/DTA.LST can not be recovered. Is there a way I could resolve this? I've searched around on Google, and I noticed that many have had this problem while rebooting. my internet sucks, since the day i got it every 10-15 min it will go out on me for about a min to sometimes 5 min then it will start back up again. some days it just acts slow and some days i have no problem. Now i use chrome and i had tried switching browsers and it just got slower and i also tried to clear my cookies regularly but it makes no difference. The funny thing is my mom's computer, which is the same exact laptop as mine runs lighting fast. Could anyone solve this problem?

Trojans and the "Anti-Clean" program

Earlier today, I got a notification about certain trojans infecting my computer. Instantly after I received the notification, a link popped up, telling me that it would get rid of these viruses. Suppposedly, this program was a fake, and made the infection worse. I have the computer currently offline for the time being, and I'm running numerous anti-malware programs. Has anyone gotten tricked into downloading this program? How would I be able to resolve this problem if all fails? I can't seem to find a way.

This may be a dumb question. But, I was wondering if they would be any way to bypass or override my Verizon DSL wireless router? I can�t play any DS WI-FI games at all, although my Wii Wi-Fi works just fine. After doing many searches, I found out that certain types of routers have been known to have issues with Wi-Fi hand held games systems. Any one have any helpful ideas or comments, instead of having to get another router?

i was thinking about getting a linksys wireless adapter,but ive only got a wired router one of the old ones that only have one ethernet cable slot,and i was wondering if i could go wierless using an wired only router for my ps3 and wii

Both my Wii and DS have had problems with connection with registered friends. My Wii has just recently stopped, and allowed me to play with friends. But my DS continues! Whenever I test the internet connection, it says it's sucessful, but for playing online with registered friends, it says communication error! This has happened repeatedly! Please Help!

DS WiFi connection optimization?

Hello all. I am trying to play Mega Man Star Force 3 Black Ace online and I believe my connection isn't working as well as it should. I have already considered that the problem is on my opponent's end but my connection is consistently bad with everyone and I even randomly disconnect sometimes when it doesn't seem like my opponent is ragequitting. I am using a Netgear Wireless G Router WGR614 v9. My SPI firewall is disabled, all of the information regarding my connection is in my DS manually, my signal strength is maxed out, my wireless broadcasting channel is set to 1, and WEP encryption is enabled. I also know that certain routers work better than others with the Wii and DS but I happen to have an excellent LAN connection for the Wii using the same router I use with the DS. I believe that both should work equally well with the same router even though I could be mistaken

I have completely run out of ideas on what to do to streamline my connection any further specifically for my DS and even more specifically for the game. If you can help please don't hesitate to tell me!
