Everyone has different pronunciations for lots of Pokemon. How do you say yours? Below is a list of Pogeys with their more common pronunciations. This is also for the discussion of Pokemon pronunciation. The ones unchanged are pretty obvious. So this is how you go about it:

Ok, i am sure all of you have noticed that the PokeTeams Scetion is pretty dead at the moment. What is the reason for this?
Would restarting it be a good idea? would some sort of tournament or competition bring activity? Would a completely new format make you want to be involved?

So we would like to know what you all think could be done, even if its something little that just may help the section out say ur opinion.

I think we should actually go back to the old rules of challenging gyms, i know there will be alot of work making new badges for the new gyms that have joined, but it would be best to not come up with a new rulee to confuse everyone... or we could make some kind of war against each other... Who ever wins the war gets the badge of the opposing team, that should at least make other teams active

The L and R Buttons: My Thoughts

So I was playing Pokemon Ruby the other day.

And all of a sudden, I realized that the L and R shoulder buttons weren't being used at all.

So I started to think up a bunch of over world gameplay mechanics L and R could be used for...other than switching Boxes while using the PC (and that weird L=A mechanic that I imagine no one uses).
Doesn't it seem like IF there were more things to be done with the L and R buttons, there could be so much more [little things, not gigantic battle mechanics] to add to the game?

For example, assigning more key items, doing more tricks on the Bike, and maybe more interactions with the environment. Just imagine a Gym Puzzle that involves actually picking up an object with the L button to move to another place. Sounds much more exciting and different than oddly shoving yourself against a boulder using Strength, right? Of course, some heavier objects would have to be moved with Strength.

Maybe a new jumping mechanic to add to the game, to reach certain heights? Or even use items outside of battle, to rid more obstacles? The HMs would still be there, untouched, of course, in my ideas.

Of course, I understand that it could be argueable that Pokemon is more concerned around Battles and Contests that don't require trekking through dungeons to get to certain areas, or solving puzzles to rid an obstacle.
Yeah, yeah, I can already see people telling me that putting such things into the L and R buttons would make it too Zelda-esque.

But I, for one, believe that as more games come out, more mechanics should be put into the actual adventure, as you trek through regions and areas, with new things like actually jumping or real-world items, with the L and R buttons, of course. It would add more variety to the games' adventures and storylines and less monotony.

But these are just my thoughts on how much the L and R buttons could provide. What does everyone else think?

HeartGold & Soul Silver - New Mew WiFi Event Announced

The official site today has announced that from November 11th to November 23rd, Mew will be downloadable through the Mystery Gift over the WiFi Connection for the games Heart Gold & SoulSilver. This Mew is at Level 5 and has the Premier Ribbon attached. It is unknown if this Mew has any special effects in the game but we'll bring more as it comes. It will then be given away from January 29th to February 11th on Diamond, Pearl & Platinum. Click the picture to go to the page.

Enigma Crystal WiFi Event Announced

The official site today has also announced that from November 27th to January 11th, the Enigma Crystal will also be given over Nintendo WiFi Connection for the games HeartGold & SoulSilver. This key item, when taken to Pewter City's Museum, will activate the Soul Dew and allow for Latios or Latias to appear and battle you in HeartGold & SoulSilver respectively.

i think that quick claw is a chance jst like dynamic punch or super sonic these are chance moves its a chance which was suppose to be apart of the game don't you think.

Following the trend of most event Pok�mon released outside Japan, the Arceus to be distributed will most likely be the same as the ones first distributed this year. If this would be the case, it would be in a Cherish Ball at level 100. It would hold the Rowap Berry and a Classic Ribbon, and it would know the moves Roar of Time, Spacial Rend, Shadow Force and Judgment, the signature moves of Dialga, Palkia, Giratina and itself, respectively. Bringing the Arceus to the the Ruins of Alph in Pok�mon HeartGold and SoulSilver later on will allow players to unlock an event that will allow them to obtain a level 1 Dialga, Palkia or Giratina.

I think its gonna be level 100 just like the one they gave out in Japan, being that Japan got it first and since its use is to get 1 of the 3 pokemon in HeartGold and SoulSilver (they already have HG/SS) this is probobly the Arceus the US will use in HG/SS to do that as well.

2010 Video Game Championships Rules

Well, I found these rules as the VGC standard rulings for the 2010 tournament. These are the current rules for the Japan tournaments, so whether or not these will be the same for the North American and European contests is unclear.

Here they are:

POKEMON VGC 2010 RULES:

1. HEART GOLD/SOUL SILVER ARE THE GAMES BEING USED

2. Double Battle Cup

3. 4 Pokemon in a battle

4. Pokemon level 1 through level 100 are allowed (!)

5. Battles are at level 1-50. If the Pokemon are above level 50, the game will auto level them down to level 50 for the battle. Moves will stay intact during the auto leveling. If a Pokemon is under level 50, no change is made.

6. No two of the same Pokemon can be used (species clause)

7. Item Clause is on, Soul Dew is banned.

8. BANNED POKEMON ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Mew
Celebi
Jirachi
Deoxys (all forms)
Phione
Manaphy
Darkrai
Shaymin
Arceus

9. You may use UP TO TWO UBERS PER TEAM (probably means Team Sheet as well). This means that you cannot have a team like Kyogre/Palkia/Dialga/Mewtwo. Non-banned Ubers are considered to be:

Rayquaza
Dialga

Any thoughts? I personally did not like the rules from last years VGC...but this year's could be even worse.

New Wii Game Announced?

Yesterday, Nintendo held a retailers conference in Japan where they announced titles release dates for games in Japan. According to leaked information from a blog, a new Pok�mon game was announced for the Wii. This game is called Pok�Park Wii - Pikachu's Great Adventure (ポケパークWii ピカチュウの大冒険) and according to the conference, is scheduled for release in Japan on December 5th. Further details of this game are not currently known but based upon the name, it could be similar to the Pok�Park Fishing Rally game released on the DS only at Pok�Park in 2005. At the moment, this information is not 100% confirmed so take it with a grain of salt. If real, we should be getting the first details of it soon. We'll bring more news as and when it comes

The official site has announced that the Oak's Letter item is to be distributed over Mystery Gift over WiFi for Pok�mon Platinum in America from Monday, September 28th to November 8th. This item gives you access to an extention of Route 224 that leads up to a wild Shaymin. This Shaymin, like previous event Shaymin, will unlock the Gracidea in your games to allow you to change your Shaymin into its Sky Forme.

I know that many pokemon players on NW have wanted to learn RNG Abuse, which if you didn't realize by now, I can teach. Although, I need to know how many people care enough to say that they do so that i may possibly make a guide. This is why i have made this thread, to see how many people want it. If you respond to this post, I would just like a sentence or two on why you want it. I know this thread might be stupid to you, but i'm kind of doing this for all of you people. RNG Abuse is not easy at all the first couple times, and I can almost guarantee that at times you will be lost, or you will get very frustrated to not get the desired results. In short words,
RNG ABUSE TAKES PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING!!!!!!

EDIT: for those of you who don't know what it is, RNG Abuse is a way to manipulate the game so that you may obtain things like shinies, flawless bred pokes (in terms of IV's) with the desired natures and abilities, and even perfect wild pokemon (mostly referring to legends). I hope that helps you to understand its significance.

I dont know where else i could post this, sorry if its in the wrong place.

Anyways, I was told that GTS blocks hacked pokemon, but thats so not true. While I was trying to finish my pokedex quicker by trading instead of tedious training, I got a few pokes that were hacked.
I got a Garchomp , and it says Pokemon League (apparently there is a hack to catch other trainers pokemon) also a Pokemon League Togekiss
there were a couple of others like that, and they were all caught in masterballs :@
Also, if u see a trader on GTS with the name of BRENDAN,Dont trade with him.I`ve traded pokemon with him on GTS a couple of times, and they were all hacks.:chair:

Has anyone else goten lame pokemon like that??

While my family was moving into my new home (when I wasn't present) one of the movers stole my :Smilie_v2_Nintendo_ and my Platinum and Pearl version. :chair:

I am planning on buying another Platinum version and a new DS, but I would like to arrange for recovering my pokemon that I've traded to other people. Unfortunately, some pokemon, like my Electivire, some Rotoms, and my prized Manaphy :( will never be recovered, but most of my pokemon I cloned and traded at some point.

I know you will all do your best to help me recover. Please volunteer to send me a copy of anything of mine I've traded you, or that you've traded to me.

Ghosts in Pokemon D/P/P ?

Well i don't know if some of you but, yes. There really are ghosts in Pokemon Platinum, Diamond, and Pearl. Yes....thats right... the other day I was in The Old Chateau (located in Eterna Forest) because i was looking for a shiny ghastly. Then i walk into The Dining room my character walks up one step by himself, and i see a butler. And....he doesnt walk away....He FLOATS away..i was like, WTF?i went running after him couse he floated to the left of the screen but you cant see were he goes....creepy huh...

You can do whatever you want but when you se a ghost there you cant move...at all. There's also another ghost hidden in this haunted house. The second ghost is a little girl. Thats right a little girl... Hm, what movie does this remember you.. ghost of a little girl. She is located on the second floor of the house. To see her you have to enter the second to last door on the right. I have found out that that if you enter the dining room, or the room you have to go in and out and repeat till you see them.

This little girl is like, well i don't know about ghost but she's i think a wandering ghost maybe.... when you enter the second to last room you can see the inside of the room to the right of the screen. So when you see her she looks to the left then to the right and just walks out of the room. When you go outside you can't see her. Try it out its cool.

Late last night, the official site has confirmed the US WiFi event dates for the Member Card. This item is only downloadable through Mystery Gift over WiFi in Pok�mon Platinum and will give you access to the Canalave City Inn. Once there, you will fall asleep and wake up on New Moon Island with a Level 50 Darkrai to capture. This event is scheduled to run from August 3rd to September 13th. The European Dates are likely to be revealed shortly and be around a similar time

UK Regigigas Event Revealed

Nintendo has today revealed that the special Regigigas, previously given in Japan and America, that has the ability to unlock the areas where Regirock, Regice & Registeel dwell in Pok�mon Platinum, will be given away at the special Pok�mon Village Fete dotted around various areas of the UK this summer. The locations are as follows;

* Sunderland Air Show, Seaburn and Roker Seafront (25th - 26th July)
* Nottingham River Festival, Victoria Embankment (31st July - 2nd August)
* Bristol Balloon Fiesta, Ashton court (6th - 9th August)
* Eastbourne Airshow, Eastbourne Sea Front (13th - 16th August)
* Weymouth Carnival, Runs from Lodmoor to the Pavillion (18th - 19th August)
* Liverpool One Shopping Centre, 5 Wall Street, Liverpool, L1 8JQ (22nd - 24th August)

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky

Expect it to come out very soon because information says that it cames out in JAPAN on the spring of 2009 which obviously a while ago.

This game was made as a continuation of the series of pokemon explorers of darkness and time.
It shows the story and what happened after grovyle and you and your team beat darkrai and the wigglytuff guild unites back together to stop another force that needs help.

The characters of play have also been extended to 5 more including that you or your partner can play: VULPIX, SHINX, RIOLU, PHANPY AND EEVEE.

There has also been info saying of new special stages where you can play specific characters and other partners. One was called bidoof's wish which takes place in the past where bidoof just joined the guild after leaving home and with the help of wanted snover, they travel to wish cave to get treasures galore and bidoof finally gets respect somehow. details limited .

The game is obviously based around sky shamin therefore giving it the name.

if you want to share any facts about it or anything. i believe the game comes out in the Europe and U.S in 2009.

Prerequisites
~ Make sure you're playing the actual game on a physical DS, not an emulator. You can download the Secret Key from anywhere in the world.
~ Complete Eterna Gym and make sure one of your Pok�mon can use HM01: Cut.
~ Set up your Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection so that you can access Mystery Gift.
~ Obtain a Rotom (there's one in the Old Chateau), and put it on your team.

Step 1: Unlocking Mystery Gift

~ Head to the Jubilife TV Building.
~ Take Elevator to third floor.
Talk to the TV Producer at the bottom screen portion, answering his questions as such
- Opinion on TV: Everyone Happy
- Feedback on TV: Wi-Fi Connection

~ Optional:
Save Game, I do believe it can be received only one, per Game Copy.

~ Go to the Mystery gift option on the start menu, while in a Wi-Fi accessible Hotspot.
~ Select receive from Nintendo WFC.
~ Go to Any Poke Mart and talk to the person at the edge of the counter to receive the Secret Gift: Secret Key.

Step 2: Eterna City, & Team Galactic HQ

~ On Floor 1, go to the Upper left, between the machine and the wall and press A, this will reveal a hidden room. Inside this room will be the appliances that Rotom can possess;

Fridge (Ice) Move Taught: Blizzard
Washing Machine (Water) Move Taught: Hydro Pump
Fan (Flying) Move Taught: Air Slash
Mower (Grass) Move Taught: Leaf Storm
Oven (Fire) Move Taught: Overheat

~ With Rotom in your party, walk up to any Appliance and hit A. Rotom will possess the item and attempt to learn its specific move. A dialog box will pop up if your Rotom knows four moves, prompting you to delete a move so it can learn its special "forme-exclusive" move. Prof. Rowan will enter the room and marvel at your discovery.

In Platinum version, Explosion will not work if there is no target. (such as if a pokemon died by Stealth Rocks on switching in) This is an even more important game mechanics change than the Hypnosis accuracy drop. I assume whether this rule is implemented depends on whether the player with the Explosion pokemon is using Platinum or not.

I did not know this until I learned it first-hand. Just thought you all should know.

Serebii Improves IV Calculator

Ha, in the middle of SRing Heatran, Serebii changed their IV calculator on me. It now adds Effort Points, a picture of the Pokemon you are checking, and shows % damage taken from each elemental attack (i.e. Heatran, x0 [Poison], x1/4 [Bug, Steel, Grass, Ice], x1/2 [Normal, Flying, Ghost, Psychic, Dragon, Dark], x2 [Fighting, Water], x4 [Ground]). Doesn't give x1 damages though =P

A: No it changes, Rotom will forget the move it learned from that appliance and if you change it to another, it learns the appliance's move it's switched to.

EG:
Switch from Fridge (Blizzard) to Fan (Air Slash), Rotom will forget the Forme's Body, and move then it will switch to the Fan's Forme and learn its move.

Just a reminder to all of you in Europe and Australia, the Secret Key WiFi event will begin tomorrow in Europe and Australia. This event allows you to download the Secret Key over WiFi using the Mystery Gift feature in Pok�mon Platinum. With the Secret Key, you can go to a new room in Eterna City's Galactic Building and access special appliances in the room to change Rotom's forms. This WiFi event will only last until July 19th so be sure to get it while you can.

New Pokemon Game Announced

If you were signed up to the Pok�mon Hiroba campaign on the official site, you would have been sent this to your cell phone and the official site has since updated with it. On June 16th, in Japan, a new WiiWare game will be up for downlaod for 1500 points. This game is called Melee! Pok�mon Scramble!.
Using various Pok�mon, you control them through various features including a Battle Royal where you control your Pok�mon in a massive pit where lots of other Pok�mon appear.
It's controlled with the Wii Remote on its side or the the Nunchuck
It also has a story mode where there are levels which end with a legendary Pok�mon Boss. Other Pok�mon are obtained through defeating them in this mode
In game, you have the ability to take screenshots of your Pok�mon in these fights
It has up to 4 player simultaneous play where you all use Pok�mon in the Battle Royale. Your friends can also bring their Pok�mon from their game on the Wii Remote
Passwords are to be used to find rarer Pok�mon
You have various grades of Pok�mon you can use. You get more as you progress through the game with Legendaries being traded as you release other Pok�mon that you have

Platinum Forms on Wi-fi: Allow the hack?

There just so happens to be an Action Replay code that allows you to take your Platinum poke forms on wi-fi for battles. Do you think it should be allowed?

Allowing this hack will deepen the game, and put to use those awesome Rotom forms. In my opinion, it would make the game noticeably more fun. Unfortunately, this will also put those of us without ARs at a slight disadvantage.

Opinions?

i just started playing FFF chocobo dungen on wii and really its no diffrent to pokemon mystory dungen on ds. I really think pokemon Mystery dungen has protencail to be a wii game as well as a ds game. Why do you think it may never end up on wii(other than FFF's maker was squaresoft or that getting all pokemon sprites created will take FOREVER-_-)
