It's undeniable that the Legend of Zelda series has some of the best music in gaming history. But when you look carefully at it , each Zelda title's music has been very different. Here are a few examples:
Wind Waker's music was whimsical and upbeat, where as Majora's Mask was dark and mysterious. Ocarina of Time's themes were bright, and inspiring, quite the opposite of Twilight Princess'.
Where am I getting with all of this? If we use what we know from previous Zelda titles on the upcoming Spirit Tracks, how do you feel the game is going to play out, having heard the main theme in teaser trailers and other various clip videos?

Haven't heard the Song yet? you can listen to it below:

New Lufia Confirmed for the DS

http://i50.tinypic.com/2b2mnp.jpg"Following up their teaser announcement on Famitsu.com last week, Square Enix released the first official details...

"Following up their teaser announcement on Famitsu.com last week, Square Enix released the first official details today on Estpolis: The Lands Cursed by the Gods, a brand-new Nintendo DS installment in the role-playing series known as Lufia in America. The game's due out February 25 in Japan for 5980 yen; no US date has been announced.

The new Estpolis is being developed by Lufia creator Neverland Company, with much of the staff of Lufia II closely involved with the project. That's no accident, as it turns out: This Estpolis is an action-RPG "rebirth" of Lufia II, which originally hit the Super NES in 1996.

Starring Maxim, a young monster hunter blessed with impressive and mysterious powers, the game features him and his friends on a quest to uncover what lurks behind the Wave Device, an object that grants the user godlike powers. As in Lufia II, the game will feature dungeons that focus heavily on puzzle-solving; unlike Lufia II, the gameplay is now action-RPG in style, with you controlling Maxim directly in battle and switching between characters by tapping their portrait on the bottom screen -- useful for combo attacks."

Source 1, Source 2

First scans from Famitsu article:
http://i48.tinypic.com/2ed2kb6.jpg, http://i50.tinypic.com/2nhkbrc.jpg

Oh god, oh god, oh god. :G

This are great news for me and hopefully other Lufia fans, but the implementation of an action-RPG style doesn't sound pretty well. Who knows? Maybe it'll give the series that 'something' new they needed. Anyway, I've never thought Enix/Neverland would create another Lufia since Ruins of Lore was a little... dissapointing, thus it didn't sold well and the series was also slowly dieing at the time.

I'm so getting this game. :3

Seeing that no one made a thread yet. I guess I will take the honors here. Nostalgia (Called Winds of Nostalgia in Japan) is a Turn-Base RPG made Red Entertainment & Matrix Software (Known for making the Final Fantasy III & IV remakes for the DS). I beated the game like a little more then a week ago. The game was a disappointment. Not that I expect it to be amazing & all. I was expecting it to be solid at best.

There was a balance problem, the game was easy, story was very cliched, I hated the Battleship parts of the game (Because, you get over power by normal enemies fast. I know this kind of goes to the balance problem of the game). The only good note worthy thing I found in the game was the graphics. Even though I don't like the 3D graphics that I have seen on the DS right now. But, it is the Nintendo DS. I can live with it.

Okay, for others who have play the game. What did you think about it?

Well well well, look at what this error code turned up on the official Nintendo customer support website. I've put the interesting bit in italics...

Error Code: 206602
Nintendo DSi Shop - Nintendo Points Card or Nintendo DSi Download Ticket Error

There appears to be a problem using the Nintendo Points Card or a Nintendo DSi Shop Download Ticket.
* Make sure you entering the number in the correct field in the Nintendo DSi Shop.

* After verifying you are entering the number in the correct location, retry the number again and make sure it is being entered correctly.
Well, if that's not a 100% confirmation of a DSi Speak Channel, I don't know what is! Thanks to Kolma for the heads up.

Omg omg omg. Epic news if this is true! Anyone find it ironic soon after this was found Nintendo changed their message? Check it outz.

Maybe this was a slip up. Possible error meant to be associated with Wii Speak but instead had DSi Speak. Who knows, though. Either way this is going to get interesting because Nintendo is always unpredictable. ;)

MPH had a lot of potential to be a great game. The online play is better than most DS games offer and while the single player wasn't the best, a sequel or another game could do much better.

I'd just like to see another portable Metroid game where I can enter death matches and have some Metroid to play on the go. No one is on MPH anymore. Thoughts?

The Legend of Zelda: Molblin's Magic Spear was a children's book, officially published by Nintendo. Its story took place during the events of The Legend of Zelda, and was supposedly a minor adventure Link had while on his quest to rescue Princess Zelda. As well as the DS book DesertDog has also made a video version with narration by Winter11 and music from Ocarina of Time.

The amount of first person shooters on the Nintendo DS platform can pretty much be counted on two hands, but that doesn't keep an excellent one from...

The amount of first person shooters on the Nintendo DS platform can pretty much be counted on two hands, but that doesn't keep an excellent one from shining through: Dementium: The Ward was one of the early shipped Halloween 2007 to modestly decent sales. It was a mature title for a platform that seemed to skew younger, so for those looking for a little grit and gore in their portable experiences, Renegade Kid's title was a refreshing alternative to the expected. The team took its tech in a sci-fi direction with Moon released in 2008, but for its third DS title Renegade Kid's returning to the mature with a sequel to Dementium: The Ward called, of course, Dementium II. And even though it's not scheduled for release until early 2010, we had the opportunity to check out its progress this afternoon.

The story within Dementium II seems to be completely independent of the happenings from the first game, so those that haven't jumped into the original experience won't be lost. In fact, the storytelling seems to have been given a stronger focus as well: the introduction feels like it spells out your situation a lot better than the mysterious and vague viewpoint from Dementium: The Ward. At the start of the game you wake up on a table in a bit of a daze – you're told that you've undergone brain surgery and have been out for days. You're well enough to be wheeled back to your cell, and you see this all first-hand through well rendered cutscenes. This is where the adventure begins: sitting in your cell, you're suddenly "teleported" to an alternate world -- a hellish version of real life – and this is where you make your escape through the hallways to figure out what the heck is going on.

Much of Dementium II, at least in gameplay and programming tech, is built upon what the team created for the original 2007 release: you still control the game through stylus and D-pad combination from a first-person perspective, and the visuals run and incredibly smooth 60 frames per second. Many of the complains that we made in our review of the original game appears to have been addressed for the second go-round. For example, you've got an on-screen map that automatically notes where you've been and where you still need to go. You can now dual-wield weapons along with your flashlight, but if you have a weapon that requires two hands you lose the ability to shine your torch on the surroundings while you hold that weapon at the ready. And best of all, the limitation of the original game's respawning creatures after leaving and returning to a room has been fixed for the sequel – there will be instances of respawning enemies, but you won't lose your progress fighting through a horde of horrors if you accidentally walk through a door and come back.

The game's touch-screen controls have also been given a tweak or two. Switching weapons is handled through a slick drag-and-drop interface that instantly freezes the action when you're changing weapons. Players can jump by double tapping on the screen or by tapping on the "up" arrow on the touch screen – crouching through low overhangs can also be performed by hitting the "down" arrow with the stylus.

With all the tweaks given to the sequel we can forgive the development team for leaving out one feature that was in the original Dementium: The Ward: the ability to write notes on the touch screen.

This is only a brief look at the game as Renegade Kid still has a few months of development to go. Hit the media link to check out new screen and artwork of Dementium II, and watch for additional coverage on the game as we get closer to its 2010 release.

The Source

I do know there is another thread about this game but its mostly just screenshots, this is for more info.

About the game, compared to the first this looks way more freaky and if you don't believe me then look at this...

]It's unusual for a game of such surreal, beautiful style as Okami to have been released in the west while our Japanese gaming cousins are still waiting for it to arrive on their Wiis (due this October, apparently).

But we've all been waiting what seems like an eternity for a new instalment of the gorgeous looking artistic spirit wolf's adventures. Finally, Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has revealed that the DS will be the recipient of the next Okami game, tentatively titled Okamiden.

Whether this will be a remake, a sequel or a spin-off is unclear at the moment, though several experts with the celestial brush suspect that this won't be a straight DS port, as the locations shown in a magazine article don't seem to match anything from the original PlayStation 2 and Wii game.

Hopefully something more will be revealed at the upcoming Tokyo Games Show. Watch this space.

Source

Well, this seems to confirm the next Okami game for the Tokyo Game Show! I'm actually suprised it's coming to the DS. From the looks of the three screens, shown in the scan, it seems like a prequel. Let the discussion begin!

Which of the two Mario and Luigi games did you like better?

a) Superstar Saga
b) Partners in time

As for me, i'd have to say i enjoyed Superstar Saga MUCH more. I wasn't a fan of the bros items in Partners in time, and i thought the game was much too linear. Superstar saga had a huge overworld to explore, which made it great!

According to recent sales records, the Nintendo DSi has been doing extremely well. However, this does not mean that the Nintendo DS Lite hasn’t been doing pretty good for itself also. In fact, some analysts are saying that the DS Lite may be competing against the DS Lite for sales. One possible reason for this is the fact that the DSi is not backwards compatible with old Gameboy Advanced games. Perhaps Nintendo thought it was time to move on and leave that generation completely but fans obviously still want to play some of the games from the Gameboy Advanced era. Is this anything that Nintendo is concerned with? Probably not, the company has been stacking money like there’s no tomorrow.

Today marks the release of the Nintendo Dsi Flipnote studio! It's a lot better than having too choose from brainbusters for a month! The Flipnote studio is free thankfully and has an icon of an 8-bit frog. When you download it you are required to choose what hand you write with and put in your birthday.
Tutorial
The Flipnote studio has its own tutorial made by a little 8-bit frog. He will show you how to make flipnotes (Which are only notes like "Happy Birthday!") and flipbooks (which are cartoons). Once your done you can do whatever you feel like. Don't worry because the frog can be seen on loading screens and hopping around with other frogs at the main menu.

Making Flipnotes/Flipbooks
To make flipnotes/flipbooks all you have to do is draw a picture and then press right on your control pad to make another frame. In the next frame there is an outline of your previous frame that won't appear in your animation but helps you in case you want to trace your picture back. You can also record sounds on the flipnote studio and you can even record music! It will give you enough time too!

Viewing and Saving Flipnotes/flipbooks
When saving a flipnote/flipbook you can save it from either the system memory or an SD card. To view flipnotes/flipbooks just go to the button that says View Flipnote and you have 4 options. Recent Notes,Calendar,System Memory, SD card. Recent notes are recent animations you have made. Calendar is a calendar that shows what you have made on what day. System memory is flipnotes/flipbooks you have saved to system memory. SD card is what you have saved to the SD card.

Flipnote Hatena
To get to Flipnote Hatena you have to touch a button at the bottom of the main menu saying Flipnote Hatena. Here you will need internet connection and you must agree to a terms of agreement. Flipnote Hatena is the online version of Flipnote Studio. You can look at flipnotes posted by other people including cool fights and Shoop Da Woops. There is a channel list, how to post tutorial and a creators room.

Just a reminder, Flipnote Studio is considered an app therefore it is free. I will post pictures soon but if you're reading this go get the flipnote studio! :D

Edit: Ok I know there is a sticky saying post your flipbook animations but this thread is telling what it is about so yeah.

August 3rd, 2009

Starting today, Nintendo DSi owners have even more ways to share their experiences with friends and family. Using an Internet-connected Nintendo DSi system and the Nintendo DSi Camera application, Facebook members can take pictures with either of the system's two cameras and upload their photos directly to their Facebook profile. This function will be available after 5 p.m. Pacific with a free downloadable system update.
While reviewing pictures they've stored in the Nintendo DSi Camera album, which includes photos taken by users and manipulated using the built-in interactive lenses, users can simply tap the Facebook icon on the system's touch screen to instantly transmit photos to the user's Facebook profile. The user's system must be configured to a wireless broadband Internet connection for the transmission of photos.
"Facebook and Nintendo DSi build on the trend of personalization that is so important to
consumers," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "We're giving people the tools to express themselves in creative new ways and show off the results to their friends and family on Facebook."
Nintendo DSi has sold more than 1.7 million units in the United States alone, according to the NPD Group. The third iteration of the world's best-selling portable video game system includes photo- and voice-manipulation features that allow users to customize their experiences like never before.
Remember that Nintendo DSi features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other Nintendo DSi features such as the new integration with Facebook Connect technology, visit Nintendo DS - The official website for the world's best-selling portable game system..
Nintendo is trying to emphasize that Tingle doesn’t solely follow around little boys, because his upcoming game is entitled Irozuki Tingle no Koi no Balloon Trip and will follow Tingle’s quest to score a lady love. Tingle will hunt for jobs, spend his hard earned cash on gifts, and be thrown into jail for being a pervert–probably in that order.
Nintendo is promoting the impending game with a downloadable DSIware toolkit. Perhaps the best part is an alarm clock that uses a selection of Tingle’s grunts as the alert. The DS continues its reign as the system of choice this generation for Japanese RPGs! The latest announcement is Luminous Arc 3 Eyes, a DS sequel to -- well, to Luminous Arc 2 and 1, of course.

First unveiled in this week's Famitsu, Luminous Arc 3 is the latest entry in a series of strategy RPG games from Image Epoch. The game promises a number of new features, most notably a splitting scenario that offers multiple endings. The story splits based both off the favor the various characters have with you and the results of battle.

Gameplay is divided into two parts: day time and after time. During day time, you work through a story that's set in a magic academy. After time follows battles that you fight during day time. During these sequences, you're free to do as you please, and can work on your character relationships.

Luminous Arc 3 hits Japan this Winter.

I never really enjoyed this games all that much, I do find the characters quite awesome though. ;D

I mean I go :Kirbyfreak: when I try to play Rhythm Rally 2 because of the fast paced action... But still managed to get a Superb in it. I really screw up at the part where it has that "tink tonk tink tonk tink tonk tink tonk". I do well at the fast, but as soon as it slows down a bit then I screw up. :run:

Edit: I got all perfects. :D

Nintendo has signaled what we always suspected would be the case; they intend to start an arms race with flashcard makers and block their new DSi compatible cards with firmware updates. Now it's time to see how the flashcard makers respond. Some flashcards like the M3i Zero and Supercard DSONEi have updatable firmwares that potentially could save them from being blocked if the flashcard makers find a suitable workaround. Others like the iTouch2 can not be updated at all and will be useless on a DSi with firmware 1.4 and above. For now at least, DSi enhanced games don't require a certain firmware in order to be run.
The update is confirmed to be live in Europe, Japan and Australia so far.

If you've got a European, Australian or Japanese DSi, you can now go to the settings menu or the DSi Shop to be presented with a system update - Once you've done this, the photo album will get a new feature.

After taking a picture, there will be a new button when looking at it in your photo album. Marked with a white f in a blue square, it's quite obvious what this does - It lets you send your picture directly to Facebook, that is, if you've got a Facebook account! The first time you try this feature you'll be asked to enter your Facebook login e-mail and password, but after that you're free to upload as many pictures as you want.

Once you've uploaded a picture, a new photo album will be created on your Facebook account, titled "Photos from Nintendo DSi," which will have every picture you upload in the future. Simple and quick to use!

We assume this update was released in Europe/Australia today to coincide with tonight's Wii/DSi updates, so we don't expect North American DSis to get this update until Monday. But you never know!

I got a facebook the other day actually. Any DSi owners or NP users also have one? Tell me dammit. Nah, but I will try this feature out.

During this weekend at the World Hobby Fair in Japan, Capcom announced the Battle Network/Star Force crossover “Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star” for the Nintendo DS. Scarce details are known at this point, but it’s expected to be a data action RPG that will probably be released this year in Japan. Details will be formally announced in the September issue of CoroCoro. It is likely the title that will include this year’s boss character contest winner Clock Genius. At the event, series producer Takeshi Horinouchi stated he has a variety of ideas for projects in mind leading up to Rockman’s 25th anniversary.
More than 424,000 DSi systems and 342,000 DS systems (Lite and Phat) found their way from retail stores into the hand of gamers. In total over 766,000 DS systems were sold, which is more than the combined sales of the Xbox 360 (240,600), PS3 (164,700), and Wii (361,700) put together.
While no other piece of hardware even came close to surpassing the DS in units sold, June was the first month since November 2008 to not feature a single DS game on the NPD Group’s top ten software sales list. Interestingly, the DS actually sold less units this June compared to June 2008, when 783,000 units were sold."
[source]

I'm suprised to see that the DS and DSi were able to beat the 360, Wii and PS3, for sales. I guess Nintendo has really done something right.
The original article also went on to tell that the Wii has been holding the charts for top selling games. The Wii scored, EA Sports Active at No. 3 with more than 289,000 sold, Wii Fit at No. 4 with more than 271,000 sold, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 with Wii MotionPlus at No. 7 with almost 205,000 sold and Mario Kart Wii at No. 8 with more than 202,000 sold! I think Nintendo has hit the gold mine. Hopefully it will last!

And it's not really something, but...

I have seen used DSi's at GameStop :o I mean, the Wii didn't even start coming back onto shelves until about a year or two later, and the DSi is coming back on shelves now, about three months later. As far as I've searched (out of a result, but it was on a forum), I've "heard" that it has a shorter battery life than the previous two. BUT that was an opinion from some guy at GameSpot, so I don't know.

Any sightings on reappearing DSi's at your store(s)?

Here's a nice compromise between the legality of using only legitimate DS cartridges and the (albeit less legal) convenience of having multiple games on the one cart: a device that lets you switch between legitimate cartridges.

This is the Blaze 3-in-1 Game Selector, and while it looks a little clunky, it makes up in handiness what it lacks in attractiveness. Working like a switchbox, the device replicates the cartridge slot of your DS and clips to the back of your handheld, allowing you to insert three DS carts at once. A small lead then runs from the device to your DS's actual cart slot, and you change games by flipping a small switch on the top of the unit.

The 3-in-1 Game Selector runs for about $13, and if you're stuck playing DS games in a spot where it's inconvenient to keep bending down and rummaging through your bag to change a game (standing on the subway?), that's not a bad price.

source

Looks rather nifty, and not too expensive either.

With hundreds of Nintendo DS game's out right now, finding the right DS game for you can be a very daunting task. Luckily for you, the awesome members of Nintendopals are here to help you in trying to recommend the best of the best Nintendo DS game's! You won't find any worthless garbage mentions from us, we're going to tell you why a game is worth checking out, what the game is about, online quality, everything you'll need to know basically.;)

Guidelines:

1. A recommendation post should at least be 1 paragraph, include a gameplay video, and maybe a gameplay picture or game-art picture. Also, explain the story, characters, and the online functions (if enabled). Make it a quality recommendation.

2. No spam. I will delete any posts saying something like: "Yeah Twewy ftw!! or "I agree". Seriously, those posts contribute nothing.

"Aspyr Media and Big Blue Bubble recently announced a partnership to create Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain for Nintendo DS. Firetop Mountain is a first-person RPG fantasy that promises to deliver an intriguing adventure through dark and eerie dungeons, thanks to the implementation of a 3D engine that makes the title the most ambitious release ever for Big Blue Bubble.
Firetop Mountain tells the story of a lone adventurer who travels to the old Dwarven peak atop the titular Firetop Mountain. Now home to an evil warlock and his minions, players must defend themselves using a variety of skills, weapons and magic spells.
Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain will be released this holiday season."

"
"Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is our most ambitious Nintendo DS project to date," said Damir Slogar CEO of Big Blue Bubble Inc. "Driven by the vision of bringing next gen console gaming to the handheld platform, as well as our passion for role playing games, we spent the past few years working on a game that will showcase how this FPSRPG on Nintendo DS can and should look."
Mr. Slogar added, "both Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson shared our vision and helped us recreate the world of Fighting Fantasy. The last step was finding a publisher with the same enthusiasm and Aspyr filled this role perfectly."
"Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain might be the best looking game that we've ever seen on Nintendo DS and the opportunity to work with the likes of Ian Livingstone, Steve Jackson and the talented team at Big Blue Bubble was too good to pass up," said Ted Staloch, Executive Vice President, Aspyr Media. "The series created by Ian and Steve turned fantasy books into unprecedented interactive experiences. The game that bears the franchise's name will do the same for RPG gaming on a handheld.""

A FPSRPG? On the DS? Has that even happened before? I think the idea of and FPS on the DS would be a great idea, considering there aren't that many (That I know of.). Lets's just hope that they can perfect the graphics on the DS so we can have a clear view of everything. FPS need to have pretty good detail, since we can only see what the character sees. With all the hype the company is giving about it, I'm pretty psyched. I think it'll be a cool game. Hopefully they will release some screens of it soon^^.

Late last week, Square Enix launched a countdown site for new game , but it would seem Weekly Jump has beaten them to the punch, revealing a ‘new game' as Four Warriors of Light: Final Fantasy Gaiden, a brand new adventure for the DS.

For those ‘veterans’ of the Final Fantasy franchise they can recall a game called final Fantasy Adventure (Seiken Denetsu in Japan, Mystic Quest in Europe). This was a great hit! The story goes like this: the hero and the young heroine as they attempt to thwart the Dark Lord of Glaive (Shadow Knight in the Japanese version) and his sorcerer assistant Julius from destroying the Tree of Mana and dooming their world. There doesn't appear to be any relation between that title -- the first entry in the Mana series -- and the new game, as Jump refers to the new title as a completely original game.

Final Fantasy Gaiden is a DS RPG in which players take control of a 14-year-old boy tasked with saving a princess. The game kicks off on your birthday as you're summoned by a King whose daughter has been kidnapped by a witch.

The game appears to be a standard menu-driven RPG, with parties of up to four consisting of characters that you encounter along your journey. Of particular note in the battle system are the lack of MP and the presence of a "Charge" command next to standard fight and item commands

There appears to be a customization element to the game as well. Equipment changes to your characters result in changes to physical appearance. This will probably seem to be a big part of the game.

Final Fantasy Gaiden releases in Japan this fall. You can get a first look at presumably two of the warriors of light at Square Enix’s teaser site: NEW GAME. Two more characters should end up appearing on the back of that dragon over the coming days.

Jump confirms that those characters, as many have guessed based off the teaser site artwork, are designed by Akihiko Yoshida, who previously worked on Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII.
