Additionally, what the game identifies as "family-friendly" DLC will be compatible with LEGO Rock Band. So if you don't want to pay $10 to export or just love LEGOs, you can play your existing G-rated DLC (sorry, no Date With The Night or Hammer Smashed Face).

Well, basically this thread is for you noobs to show off some FCs (full combos) you've achieved on any Guitar Hero game or Rock Band game.. You could just name one or give a list. Then people could ooh and awe at your gaming achievements. This might also be a chance to meet some really good Guitar Hero and Rock Band players and play a few good songs with them. Courtney Love, ex lover of Cobain, wrote on her Twitter page that she is planning on suing Activision:

“For the record this Guitar Hero [expletive] is breach of contract on a Bullys part and there will be a proper addressing of this and retraction," she tweeted. “WE are going to sue the [expletive] out of ACtivision we being the Trust the Estate the LLC the various LLCs Cobain Enterprises.”

This probably stems from Cobain singing songs by other licensed artists in the Guitar Hero 5 game, something that in no way seems like something he would want to be a part of, if alive today. We can't wait to see what happens with this one.

This actually sounds like it would be pretty interesting, besides getting to play Guitar Hero for College Credit.

“Video games are an understudied area,” said Marcus, a psychology professor. ”People dismiss them unfairly, but ‘Guitar Hero’ is a good tool for teaching and I’m interested in the nature of learning.”

This course will cover the topic of video games and human cognition.

It seems that some parents are a bit worked up about the new Guitar Hero class being offered.
“I just wrote a big check here,” fumed Glen Jackson, whose son, Jeff, is an incoming freshman at NYU. “I’m not paying for him to study video games. It seems a bit watered down.”'

On PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii, some of the disc-based songs from Guitar Hero World Tour and Smash Hits will be importable, for a fee, to work with Guitar Hero 5 and the upcoming Band Hero. What's more, currently 152 out of 158 Guitar Hero World Tour downloadable tracks will automatically work with Guitar Hero 5. All of the songs you import will be upgraded to work with the new Guitar Hero 5 features, such as band moments and vocal star power.

Tim Riley, head of music licensing at Activision, had this to say about importing songs
"It's something we've wanted to do for a while now. They are separate licenses, so we need to go back and re-license previous content. So, songs from World Tour, songs from the download space, songs from Smash Hits that will technically work in Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero had to be renegotiated...We didn't want to do it for a couple songs. We wanted to do it for a couple hundred songs. So we have a lot cleared and we're in the process of clearing a lot more."

The Rock Band Network allows any artist to upload and price their own tracks for users to download from the game's music store.

According to a report from Billboard, that service will launch sometime this year for the Xbox 360 versions of Rock Band, with plans to bring those "popular tracks" to the PlayStation 3 and Wii versions "eventually." Artists can submit their songs to a group of "Harmonix-trained freelance game developers" who will prep the tracks for use in game.

Artists can price their songs between 50 cents and $3, netting 30% of track sales. Rock Band owners will be able to preview Rock Band Network songs before they purchase.

MTV Games senior VP Paul DeGooyer says the Rock Band Network features a "set of serious professional tools to allow people on the front line of writing and recording songs to completely control their destiny with respect to interactive products and then giving them direct access to the download store."

Those tools are expected to enter a public beta program in August. A preview web site for creators has just been launched.

There's a good reason the Rock Band Network will be initially available only to Xbox 360 users. Harmonix and MTV Games are relying on Microsoft's Creators Club and the company's XNA development platform to handle the development of artist uploaded track to something that's playable in Rock Band.

The new artist network is Harmonix's answer to Activision's "GH Tunes," the music creation and marketplace tools that launched with Guitar Hero World Tour. Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos said that his company would take a "radically different approach" to user song uploads.

It's different, that's for sure. And it'll likely go a long way to helping Harmonix reach those 5,000 downloadable tracks in Rock Band this year... or eventually."

I was playing "Tangled Up in Blue" by Bob Dylan when it happened. Kinda funny it broke during that song, actually.

I can still play it, as long as the hinge part joining the pedal to the base does not break...

But I like the way they made some of the songs in the game (cause it's making the game difficult). This song looks absolutely impossible to get 100% on (even though it will probably be FCed later).




Btw, I heard that Bestbuy is selling Guitar Hero: Smash Hits early for Wii/Ps2, starting today. To this point, there has been little information released about the upcoming Guitar Hero Van Halen. Lucky for us though that they decided to set up a trailer video at the E3 Expo and even more lucky is that the people at Destructiod managed to get a video of the game!
