A few months ago, a Sony survey popped up asking God of War fans what they'd like to see to celebrate the upcoming release of God of War III. There was the normal stuff on there like a collector's edition, behind the scenes Blu-ray, etc., but the one that raised the IGN eyebrows was a compilation of the first two games

Today, the God of War Collection is a reality.

This "holiday season," one Blu-ray will be released that houses both the original God of War and God of War II. Obviously, the Blu-ray disc means that it's not a PS2 game and thus there's no need to worry about backwards compatibility. These PS2 games will be remastered and pack 60 frames-per-second action, 720p graphics, and PlayStation Network Trophy support.

The best news? All of that will only cost you $39.99

A collection. This is great for those who want God of War 3 but don't want to go backward to play the previous versions of the game. The only problem I see with this is that it doesn't include the PSP edition of God of War and that ain't right. The game would be great on HD. Nonetheless, its a great buy and I really recommend this to anyone who has or will be buying a PS3. I mean, come on. $40? Do itttt.

My friend was going bring over his PS2 just to let me play GOW 1&2. I never have played, GOW 3 previews got me interested.

This is good stuff. I have both for PS2 but my controller is wore out and I don't want to buy a new one.

I always thought God of War looked like a stupid, shallow, beat 'em up game, but I have never played it, so I don't really know. This seems like a pretty good deal, but I personally am not really interested.

It's far beyond any other "beat em' up game" It doesn't have an incredibly in depth combo system, but it's way better than any other game in the genre. If you have played Ninja Gaiden, multiply that game by like a billion and you have God of War.
