there's multiple possibilitys for that.
the most common one is that the site is currently doing Maintenance on the game so most of the times you can't connected until a certain period of time has passed, which usually ranges from 1-3 hrs, 5 tops.

and if it's not that, you might be missing a file in the program, so you might want to uninstall what you currently have and reinstall a new one(download again).

as long as you still remember your password/username, your character should still be safe.

and if it's not that maybe, your just not connected to the internet at all
