Super Smash Brothers Brawl Tournament FAQ
Who can enter a tournament? Only members in good standing with their BRAWL FRIEND CODE ENTERED CORRECTLY into their profile may participate. We reserve the right to disallow anyone for any reason we see fit. Recently we have opted to disallow members with less than 30 posts. Our 2nd tournament was plagued with new users with no loyalty or affinity to the site simply applying then dropping off the face of the earth. How Do I Enter a Tournament?! After March 9th we will be holding 2 simultaneous tournaments with 16 players each. Simply post your name and friend code in the entry thread to enter! First come first serve. We will be accepting 2 alternates in case someone drops out or some kind of dispute arises where 2 players in the same bracket are DQ'd. After entering you should add ALL of the participating members Friend Codes to your Game so that you are ready ANY TIME you are asked to play (within reason). This will also get you connected with our sites most active and skilled members. When will the tournament begin/end? We will begin taking entries on March 9th. A tournament will begin as soon as we have 16 verified entrants. Players will be given their matches and are expected to check the Tournament Trees to see who their next opponent will be. You have 2 days to play your match. We will use our best judgment as to who is trying to play and who is avoiding it and/or being lazy about it. Save your PMs. That being said the entire tournament should take NO LONGER than 6 days to complete (assuming people take the absolute LONGEST time possible). Awards, Official Records and Hall of Fame wil be updated at our discretion but the next tournament will begin accepting entrants within 48 hours of the completion of the previous tournament. This will NOT be like other games tournaments (pokemon?) where we wait around and arbitrarily decide to have tournaments whenever... Brawl Tournaments will be ONGOING and hopefully we will complete 4-5 every month with 2 running simultaneously. Bear with us for the first few.. Itll take us a bit to get in to a rhythm. How does one get Disqualified (DQ'd) from a Tournament? Being Lazy/unresponsive to those trying to complete their scheduled match with you. Profanity or poor sportsmanship (taunting is totally allowed ans so is bragging... just keep it clean and don't go overboard). Having multiple accounts. Arguing with moderators about anything. Cheating in game (we dont yet know what is possible). And many other ways!!.. Honestly.. you'll know if you did something worth being DQ'd for. Being disqualified may result in a ban from the forum itself and/or all tournaments depending on the situation. Being Laze = DQ.... and we probably wont let you into the next few tourneys... Cheating, harassing, lying etc... Blackball/Ban from forum. So and So is doing such and such.. its not FAIR! Please report all indiscretions to moderators in charge of the respective tournament. Be prepared to PROVE what is being alleged. Save PMs, take screenshots, get another witness etc.. DO NOT send all concerns directly to Reinhart.. they will be ignored if they look like sillyness. What will the format of the tournaments be? (Items, No items, Stock?) Be sure to read the rules of the tournament carefully because we WILL be having different rules for different tournaments. I want to keep one of the tournaments "hardcore" all of the time.. while the other we will rotate. How do we Report our games? Post in the tournament thread for your tournament. Both players should post.. one to report the other to confirm.. but a confirmation is not required. It is simply a sign of good faith. Lying results in a DQ. If there is a dispute do not report until it is resolved. Report those directly to the person running your SPECIFIC tournament.. not me.... not any mini you see in chat... directly to that moderator or moderators in charge of your tournament. Are there prizes? There will always be awards given out to first and second place finishers. Your official records will also be updated after each tournament. Once in a while (including the first few tournaments) we may throw a prize or 2 in but generally... no there will not be physical prizes awarded. What if I win multiple tournaments?! I want more awards! Your current award will be updated to read "2 time champion" as you garner more wins... There may be something given out for people winning many tournaments and/or being the highest "officially ranked" player on the site for a given time but that wont be an issue for a couple of months I presume. Why are we starting so EARLY?! I cant get the game til ____ and my mom wont let me play on the Sabbath!.. Start it later so I can play too!! We will be holding two tournaments simultaneously and hopefully they will go quickly and we can start new ones within a week of the launch day. Until then.. if youre not in the tournament.. practice up! If there is enough want and enough staff we may even do 3 tournaments simultaneously in the future. Anything else? Keep your reputation in good standing with the staff and other members. There may come a time when you're in a he said she said situation and we'll have to simply choose one of you or call a rematch to keep the tournament moving. The moderators WILL make incorrect calls once in a while.. its the best we can do. Try and HAVE FUN.. its not all about your record and winning.. learn from each time you play and get better. I dont plan on being the best right out of the gate because I know there are kids getting this game at midnight on the 8th and playing until March 8th 2009 24/7. Its about the experience of participating in an official tournament and the fun youll have losing to Ness and Reinhart. No Crying. (There's No Crying in Baseball or Smash Brothers) Taunting is acceptable. Excessive taunting is acceptable. We dont yet know all of the "exploits" or "cheap tricks" in this game.. there may be rules in the future.. but at first we wont be disallowing anything. Leave a message on your opponent's profile or PM them with a "Good Game" or something after your match. Staff ARE allowed to play in tournaments and I encourage them t participate. In the future we may hold Staff/VIP Only tournaments to see who really is the master. (THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!) PLAY YOUR MATCHES! We're serous about the time constraints. There are TONS of people who want YOUR spot in the tourney.. so play or leave. If you know youre going to be gone for the weekend or all week and cant possibly play... dont sign up for a tournament. Alright guys.. have fun and I'll see you out there. Just use your head and stay on top of your matches.. be a good sport like you learned about in 5th grade PE and you'll be fine. Reinhart

I don't know the real details of Brawl and won't until release, but a thought I had mentioned in another thread:
If a game comes into question, cannot the specified match be recorded and sent to a mini, global or admin for review? I assume there won't be many matches in question but if it does cause a problem the video of the match can be watched. Just a (possible time-consuming) idea...

Yeah obviously keeping a video of all of your matches is the best way to protect yourself against anything. I encourage people to take screens, videos and save pics if theyre particularly worried about this. But no.. I dont think itll be required.

Um, what would the primary rules be?
I mean, since we will ahve the "hardcore" part, thats probably gonna be no items, FD, etc etc. But what about the second tournament? will it be timed or stock? Items? stages? 2-4 players?
