Generation I Glitches (R/B/Y) Mew Glitch Yes, believe it or not, it can be done without a GameShark or other cheating device. Here's what you'll need to do: -Restart your game and play until you get HM02 Fly from the house west of Celadon City. -DO NOT fight the following trainers: The Youngster with a Slowpoke (Level 17) on the road to Bill's house (Route 25). He is the fourth trainer after you cross Nugget Bridge, standing directly above a female trainer and facing north. The Gambler with two Poliwags and a Poliwhirl (all Level 22) between Lavender Town and Saffron City (Route 8). He is standing just east of the entrance to Saffron City, facing north toward the door of the Underground Path. -Carefully follow the series of steps illustrated below. Make sure you have a Pokemon that knows Fly. On Route 8, stand in front of the door of the Underground Path. Save your game, since saving after this point will disrupt the procedure. Walk down one step and immediately press Start. If you succeed, the menu will pop up before the Gambler "sees" you. Go to the Pokémon list and fly to Cerulean City. ![]() ![]() The Gambler will see you just before you fly away. ![]() Your Start button will no longer function. Go north across Nugget Bridge and head east until you find the trainer in this picture (he's the Youngster described above). ![]() If you walk right up to the Youngster, the game will lock up, so you'll have to let him see you and walk up to you. Defeat his Slowpoke (afterwards, your Start button will work again), then fly to Lavender Town. ![]() Head west into Route 8. ![]() As soon as you enter the narrow path, the menu will pop up by itself. Press B to exit... ![]() ...and look who it is! Mew will be at Level 7 and its only attack will be Pound. Pokéball, go! *Personal Experience: I have gotten my very own Mew using this method, you can use him once you have Fly as soon as possible in the game. Which means you can beat the game with Mew! Another good thing, you can transfer it to G/S/C games (Generation II). How To Catch Any Pokemon Fighting the Youngster will always result in a Mew encounter because his Slowpoke has a Special of 21 (15 in hex). But if you fight something else before returning to Route 8, it will change which Pokémon you encounter. Let's say you foolishly choose a starting Pokémon other than Bulbasaur and want to make up for it. Bulbasaur's hex number is 99, which converts to 153 in decimal. Now, you could fight a wild Pokémon with a Special of 153, but the only place to find that is on a Level 64 Chansey in the Unknown Dungeon, and those Chansey are quite rare. Worse, they only have a one-in-sixteen chance of having the right Special. Fortunately, there is a solution: Ditto's Transform, which copies the stats of the opponent. This means that you can catch any Pokémon in the game by following these steps: Catch/raise a Pokémon with the proper Special stat (153 for Bulbasaur). You can find a complete list of which decimal value is needed for each Pokémon: -Fly away from the Gambler battle. -Fight any trainer that can see you from a distance and walk up to you. (This is necessary to both unlock your Start button and trigger the Route 8 battle.) -Find a wild Ditto and let it Transform into your Pokémon with the proper Special. -Beat the Ditto (or just run away) and immediately fly to Lavender Town without fighting anything else. -Enter Route 8 (From Lavender), and Bulbasaur (or whatever) will appear. Note that since only the least significant of the two Special bytes is used for this, you can also add 256 to the values listed above and use that Special to get the same Pokémon. This is important because there are a few Pokémon, such as Kangaskhan, whose identifying value is lower than the minimum Special that any Pokémon can have. In Kangaskhan's case, you can find her by using a Special of 258 (2 + 256). Also note that when you perform this trick, any trainers you fight after the Gambler will be "used up." Make sure you have enough unused trainers to catch all the Pokémon you want! Fortunately, the Gambler can be used to initiate the trick an unlimited number of times. *Personal Experience: Man was it hard to find trainers I haven't fought yet. But I managed to find some. Using this method I got a Lv.7 Charizard, Lv.7 Blastoise, Lv.7 Nidoqueen and even a Lv.7 Mewtwo!!! Guess what, they can all be transfered to G/S/C games!!! MissingNO!
What does it do?: It is Bird/Normal type. Yes, you read that right. It is Bird type. Probably a typo or a remnant from an earlier beta version of the game (this supports theory one.) It has three attacks: Sky Attack, Water Gun, and Water Gun. That wasn't a typo. It has two Water Guns. That in itself is a paradox since Pokémon are forbidden by nature to have more than one copy of an attack. But then again, glitches defy nature almost all the time. It has a supernormal Attack stat but every other stat is subpar. This makes it not good for battling. If you raise it a level, it might evolve into a Kangaskhan. (Hey, maybe this was a baby Kangaskhan that was taken out of the game!) You can teach MissingNO. Fly, so when it evolves into Kangaskhan it can be a flying Kangaskhan. When you encounter it the sixth item in your bag gets duplicated to 128. Since the item numbers can naturally go no higher than 99, 128 is shown as glitchy blocks. Seeing MissingNO. or 'M will scramble your Hall of Fame data, with no known way to get it back. Trainers' opinions on whether you should catch MissingNO. or 'M are varied. Some say that MissingNO. is safe to get, while 'M is dangerous. Others say that 'M is the safe one, and that MissingNO. is the dangerous one. Some say you should stay away from them both. While I have never experienced a game-wrecking experience with a MissingNO. or 'M, some say they have. Maybe the Glitch Pokémon have different effects on different games.. How to encounter it: 1. Go to the old man in Viridian (the coffee addict). Watch him catch a Weedle, then fly to Cinnabar and surf on the eastern coast. MissingNO. and 'M will appear. The most common levels are 0 and 80, but other level MissingNOs may appear 2. Usually MissingNO. or 'M appear, and in some cases high level Pokemon appear, like Mewtwo Lv.250 for example. This is the only way you can clone Items, make sure it isn't a Key Item cause they are harder to remove from your bag. But hey, 128 rare candies every time you see MissinNo. Not bad.*Personal Experience: Yes this trick does work to clone an item x128 times (Plus the item itself {making it 129}), but you can also catch MissingNO. then evolve it into a Kangaskhan if you're having trouble with the Safari Zone. I caught a few and didn't wreck my game. Try at your own risk. Ghost/Skeleton MissingNOs: ![]() ![]() ![]() How to obtain them (2 ways): 1.(for Red&Blue Versions only) Restart your game and name yourself something with a w, x, or y in the 3rd, 5th, and 7th letter positions. "w" lets you get Kabutops skeleton, "x" lets you get Aerodactyl fossil, and "y" to get Ghost. Please note that they must be lowercase. For example, "Billy" lets you get Ghost MissingNO. The name "Zorax" gets you Aerodactyl fossil, "Zowayix" gets you all three special MissingNOs. Then talk to the old man at Viridian (the guy who likes coffee) and watch him catch a Weedle. Then fly to Cinnabar and surf on the eastern coast. They should pop up there, in alarmingly high levels (up to 255). 2.(for RBY versions) -Train a Pokémon so its Special stat is either 182 (for Kabutops skeleton), 183 (for Aerodactyl skeleton), or 184 (for Ghost). -Walk up to this Gambler. Before he sees you, quickly press Start and fly away to another area. ![]() -Find another trainer and battle him. Make sure he walks up to you. -Find a wild Ditto and force it to Transform into your Pokémon with the Special stat of 182, 183, or 184. Then run away. -Fly to Lavender town and walk towards the west. As soon as you exit the town, a menu will pop up. -Close it and you will fight a Ghost or Skeleton MissingNO. -Basically you're doing the 'Mew Glitch' so there shouldn't be a problem. *Personal Experience: I only obtained the Kabuskel MissingNO. because my name was Rawr (Ya I know...I found this MissingNO. by accident). Glitch City
First, go to Safari zone and walk around a little. Then, go outside and say "no" to his question. Next, go back inside and save your game. Go out again. Again, say "no" to his question (which is different this time) Go to Cinnabar and surf for a while. *Note: You can use other locations as well, such as the Cycling Road, etc. Finally, PA will say, Ding Dong. You will find yourself back in the Zone... Exit out and find yourself in Glitch City.*Personal Experience: Meh, a weird glitch in fact, similar to the VOID in Generation IV. Although this glitch doesn't have any purpose, it's cool. Do NOT go inside Caves. I found a body of water in Glitch City and decided to fish. I found a normal Staryu. Minor Glitches
Get past Ghost in Pokemon Tower with out Silph Scope ![]() ![]() Really, all you have to do it use a Pokedoll on it, and it runs away. Invisible PC ![]() ![]() Go to Celadon, and go to inside the mansion. Go all the way to the right hand side corner, above the plant. Go up one, and press A. It will act like a computer's there. See ghost without Silph Scope ![]() Go to Pokemon Tower in Lavender. Face a ghost pokemon. ![]() ![]() Now go to PkMn, a select a pokemon. Dont click on switch though, click on stats. ![]() Now go back to the battle screen, and you can see the pokemon that was the ghost. Stand on top of a tree Easy glitch. Cut a tree down, stand where it used to be and save your game and reset. Once the game is loaded once more, you'll be standing on top of the tree ( Evolve stone-needing-evolution pokemon without the stones. I.E. Eevee into a Vaporeon without the water stone. Please note that this only works in Yellow. In order to evolve a stone-evolving Pokémon without a stone, refer to the chart below. Put the Pokémon that you are trying to evolve into slot one of your belt, and the Pokémon specified below in slot two. Once you have your first and second slots filled, battle until the first raises a level, and it will evolve. If you have a Pikachu, it evolves with a Thunder Stone. A Thunder Stone's HEX value is 21. Growlithe's HEX value is also 21. So put a Growlithe underneath the Pikachu. Here's a chart of Stone, Pokémon equivalent (second slot on belt), and their HEX values: Evolution Stone/Pokémon for Slot 2/HEX Value: -Moon Stone/Exeggutor/0A -Fire Stone/MissingNo./20 -Thunderstone/Growlithe/21 -Water Stone/Onix/22 -Leaf Stone/Psyduck/2F Beat the game in 7 minutes or less (Japanese Game only) In late 2006, a video appeared on YouTube demonstrating how to beat the classic Pokémon game in about 7 minutes. This technique can be done on an actual GameBoy and does not require extreme luck or reflexes. However, it works only on Pocket Monsters Red (v1.0) (J) and Pocket Monsters Green (v1.0) (J), the first versions of the game that came out in Japan in 1995. To explain this route in detail would require many screenshots, so instead just embedded the YouTube video on this page. The following description was originally written by gocha. Added details where appropriate. 1. Start the game. 2. Obtain two items, きずぐすり (potion) and おとどけもの (Oak's parcel). 3. Open どうぐ (item screen), then point the second item and press Select, B, B. 4. Encounter with a wild pokémon, then open ポケモン (PKMN) screen and press A (selected pokémon will be garbled). 5. Cancel PKMN screen and beat the wild pokémon. 6. Walk in circles for N steps (and stand in front of Gary's house), and enter the house (to emulate the original video, N=83~87). 7. Ash warps to to the area east of Celadon City. Walk into the guardhouse, then out. 9. Take a direct walk into the Pokémon Center of Celadon City, then out. 10. Walk into the entrance four buildings to the left of the Pokémon Center, then out. 11. Move toward the Pokémart, then walk back and forth for 18 steps, then enter the building. 12. Ash warps to Lance's room. Go up to Gary's room. 13. Walk past Gary to meet Professor Oak. The above route may be the most basic method which you should be able to reproduce. Nonetheless, this route has been improved upon several times by speedrunners (both conventional and tool-assisted). On YouTube, you may find some of the newer videos that beat the game in less than 5 minutes. Last edited by Rayquaza911; 03-18-2009 at 02:45 PM. |

Generation II Glitches (G/S/C) Cloning Glitch ![]() Deposit the pokemon you want to duplicate into a box on your PC. ![]() Now switch to an empty box on your PC. (*It doesn't have to be empty) Turn off the game while it says "SAVING...DO NOT TURN OFF THE POWER". Wait three seconds after agreeing to save your game and overwriting the progress and all that. So the moment that the window for "SAVING..." comes up, wait three seconds. Then turn the game back on and look into your party. It should have the pokemon you deposited. ![]() Check your PC, and you should find the pokemon you deposited in there as well. ![]() Another possibility is that there are two of the same Pokemon in your box. NOTES: -You can duplicate more than one pokemon at a time. -To duplicate items have a pokemon holding that item. -This can be done to get all of the starters. -This can damage your pc, and cause you to lose Pokemon. *Personal Experience: If you have done the clone successfully, you should have the original still in your party and the clone in the PC Box. I cloned my Master Balls to catch the 3 Legendary Dogs this way, and of course clone them afterwards. I never had trouble with my PC with the glitch, but some have. Get All Three Starters Requirements: A Pokemon G/S/C game with no save state. (or one you don't mind deleting) Step One: Start a new game. Step Two: When you've gotten through the generic "This is the world of Pokemon" opening, go outside and save before you go to get your starter. Step Three: Continue through the game normally until you get to a point were you can catch Pokemon. Note: Do NOT save your game at anytime during this step. Step Four: Catch a Pokemon, then go to the Pokemon center in Cherrygrove City. Step Five: Perform Cloning Glitch amd clone your starting Pokemon. Note: Do NOT save in front of the PC. Step Six: If the clone was successful, you will be where you last saved, which should be before you got your starter. Step Seven: Go into Prof. Elm's Lab and pick a different starter with the starter you just chose still in your party. Step Eight: Go to the Pokemon Center in Cherrygrove and your original starter will be in the PC. Step Nine: To get the last starter, start at Step Three and repeat. How to get Celebi without a Gameshark The video itself is self-explanatory. *Personal Experience: I tried really hard to create a bad clone, but it seems too hard for me without the Pokemon Stadium GB Tower. I at least have 250/251 pokemon in my gold Last edited by Rayquaza911; 03-18-2009 at 03:27 PM. |

Generation III Glitches (R/S/E) Cloning Glitch (Emerald only) Requirements: All you need is access to Battle Tower. Step One: Go to the PC in the Battle Tower. Must be on Emerald Version only. Step Two: Deposit the Pokemon you want to clone in any slot of Lanete's PC. Step Three: Exit the computer and save your game. Step Four: Withdraw the Pokemon from the PC that you stored in step two. Step Five: Talk to the lady behind the counter closest to the PC. Step Six: She will ask if you want to make a challenge. Select yes and choose any two eligible pokemon from your party. Step Seven: She will tell you that you must save the game before making a challenge and ask you if that is OK. Select yes. Step Eight: The game will freeze for 2-3 seconds. Step Nine: After, but not during, the freeze, turn off the game. It is not necessary to save again. Step Ten: When your game is turned back on, the cloned Pokemon will be both in your party and in the PC. Also Note: If you want to clone items, then just equip the item to a Pokemon and clone the Pokemon. *Personal Experience: This way you can clone 5 Pokemon at a time, make sure 2 Pokemon in your party can enter the Battle Tower. This glitch is really simple so there shouldn't be a reason as to why you may screw up. The Pomeg Glitch Get abnormal amount of HP in emerald. Requirements: Several Pomeg berries, Pokemon with one to three HP. This glitch is easy. Get a Pokemon to one HP and give it a Pomeg berry. Its HP Should fall past zero and reset to 65535. The effect of HP loss varies between Pokemon. Some Pokemon loose one HP with the first berry and two with the second. You need to find out how much HP your Pokemon looses. If a Pokemon where to loose one HP every time then this glitch would not work. Last edited by Rayquaza911; 03-18-2009 at 03:50 PM. |

Minor Glitches
Hill Glitch (Ruby and Sapphire) East of Mauville City there is an Aroma Lady that will battle the player. If the player stands right behind the hill in her line of sight, she will see the player and walk onto the hill and challenge you. This does not happen in Emerald due to her being a part of a double battle in the same area. *Personal Experience: It works, it's weird....lol Mawile Misspelling In the pokedex on Ruby version only, Mawile's name is spelled "mawHile". Use Dig/Bounce without really knowing it Okay this is what you do... Have a pokemon in your party that knows Dig/ Bounce and is very very very close to growing a level and the level it is about to go to has to be a level where the poke learns a move, and have a slow but very strong pokemon in your party (these have to be in the first two places in your party). Then go into a double battle. Command your slow but strong pokemon (I like to use Regice) to defeat one of the pokemon with a decent attack. Command the one with dig/bounce to use dig/bounce. Then let the battle progress. The slow but strong poke should have KOed one of the pokes. And now the Dig/bouonce poke will grow a level. Make it forget dig/bounce for the new move. Then just watch and the pokemon will use dig/bounce even though it doesn't know it. *Personal Experience: I love this glitch, it's funny but I haven't had the time to check if it works on other Generations. Fish on Peoples Heads Glitch Okay this is what you do... First you need a pokemon that knows surf and either good, old, or super rod. Surf until you come across a person. Then go below them (it works from every direction except you fish under them) then use the rod. ![]() Berry Glitch After a year of gameplay all time related events will stop. How to fix this: 1.Load Jirachi from the Colleseum Bonus Disc. 2.Connect with FR/LG 3.Link up with Emerald version. 4.Link up with Colosseum Secret of Jirachi ![]() ![]() Jirachi is obtained by one of two ways. 1.Get the Bonus Disc by Pre-ordering Colleseum (can't do it unless you already have the bonus disc). 2.Get it transfered from Pokemon Channel. Jirachi is pokemon no. 385. In FR LG it is not required to get the pokedex full. Jirachi can only be transfered to a single ID no. once. For example if my game's ID was 12345 and I got Jirachi transfered it would not let it transfer it to my friend's game which has an ID of 12345. Jirachi is obtained at level 5. If it is gotten from Colleseum it fixes the Berry glitch (see RS glitches). When gotten either way it is at level 5. When transfered from Colleseum to Ruby you get the Salac Berry attatched to it. When it is traded from Colleseum to Sapphire it has the Ganlon Berry attached. Both of these berries are great for making pokeblocks with and also berry crushing (see FRLG). Jirachi cannot be directly transfered from Colleseum or Channel to FR or LG. Certain bonus discs will give shiny Jirachis and only shiny Jirachis. Thats pretty much all on Jirachi! *Personal Experience: I've looked really hard and I've read that people did in fact obtained some Shiny WISHMKR Jirachis. Others just simply didn't believe them. Generation IV Glitches (Diamond & Pearl) Tweaking (What is it?) Tweaking, also known as Holepunching, is a glitch that first appeared in the fourth generation of Pokémon. It is caused by pressing the left and right buttons continuously whilst holding the up/down button and riding on a bicycle in fourth gear and going through a load line (a load line is from where the game loads the next area graphics). It saturates the DS's RAM making it impossible for the game to load the graphics, and sometimes the values too. It is most easily done in Jubilife City. This glitch will throw up invisible walls or cause a section/route to become black, known as the Dark Void, only seeing the shadows of trainers, items etc. In some cases, the player will be able to walk through a black wall. They may also be allowed to walk through signposts. Tweaking seems to have no negative consequences on the game's data. However, there is a slight chance that while tweaking, the game will freeze. This is solved by simply turning off the game and turning it back on. In some cases, tweaking may allow players to catch Shaymin and Darkrai. If the player tweaks correctly, then a way to the Mystery Zone can become accessible. If the player navigates correctly, the player might be able to reach the in-game locations of the legendaries mentioned above. How to create the Dark Void in Jubilife: *Personal Experience: The cross-hair on the video is to represent where the load lines are. This glitch allows to go in the Void and into mysterious places. It works in other cities as well. Check more videos from the maker of this one, and you'll see him creating more Voids in other locations. How to get Darkrai and Shaymin without an AR! DARKRAI SHAYMIN You can get Shaymin by this same glitch as well, but you MUST have Fly/Teleport if you are going for Shaymin! To get Shaymin by the same glitch takes only half as long. Follow this video exactly the same up to 5:00 from the FIRST VIDEO. From there, reset the Poketch Counter and head East, instead of South, for approximately 870 steps. Then head North for about 64,500 steps and you'll arrive at Fake-Sinnoh at the bottom of Sunnyshore City. From there go up to Seabreak Path. The path should look white. Ride inside the white path until you arrive at a Jubilife City area. Press "Y" to use the kit WITHOUT popping up the menu. When you reboot you should be in the real Seabreak Path. Pop up the menu to reload the graphics and head over to your Shaymin! ^^ *Personal Experience: Yes! I got Darkrai and Shaymin with this method. 2.5 hours for Darkrai and 1.5 hours for Shaymin. Though some slight changes: During my 2nd 65k for Darkrai, I ended underneath Newmoon Island, not Fullmoon. As for Shaymin, I ended up on the left side of the white path. I couldn't get on it. So do the logical thing. Go back and enter the path from the White Rock. I sincerely thanked the maker of this video I registered on his forums. This is by far the best glitch ever found on an American version of the game. I laugh at the cheaters who used their AR to get the Member Pass and Oak's Letter. Won't work for Platinum since the legendaries are removed from game! Last edited by Rayquaza911; 06-27-2009 at 02:14 PM. |

How to get Giratina (early in the game)
If you do not know how to create the Void, watch the video above this. *Personal Experience: I just found this glitch today, and decided to do it. Pretty straightforward. It works. I got it in like 10 minutes, maybe less. So yea...2 badges and already a Pokemon Lv.70 that obeys me. Great for speedruns. Even though it's April 1st, this isn't a joke, it actually works. How to Clone Pokemon on Diamond and Pearl Video is self explanatory. Try at your own risk. GEN IV glitches are usually the most unsafe, but if done correctly, reward is great.
