Just Homebrew, by itself, doesn't play DVDs. You need to have the DVD portion from the HackMii installer set up in order to play them.

BootMii includes a DVD installer that you can use. The page includes instructions.

On my sd card i have a folder called private, next that an icon called, boot.elf and next to that a icon called installer. What else is it i need and whereabouts do they need to be put.
When i installed homebrew channel on this old school type menu below it it had the option to install dvdx or summit and underneath that it says boot mii. I am sure im nearly there, any help will appreciated.

Hmm try erasing everything and re-doing it. It could have been a corrupt file <_<

DVDx is the DVD portion of the installer. Install that if you'd wish to watch DVD's on your Wii. Although, I do not recommend doing so, there have been cases of disc lenses dieing out after the installation, and it is not meant to read DVD discs, so it will die out faster than it normally would.

You need a folder on the root of the card called 'apps' and in there, you would create another folder for each app you download from wiibrew.org or any other homebrew site. You would have to rename the .dol file to BOOT.dol though, do not forget that .
