Sure. But it's all a numbers game. I think too many people have picked up the phrases "hardcore gamer" and "casual gamer" for it too be stopped now. We are majorly outnumbered.

Doesn't matter. This "hardcore/casual" thing is just a marketing thing. People who use the phrases are basically tools and for me, there is no giving up. Keep proclaiming in the streets the message of gaming unity, and eventually, people will start to understand.

Now, I'm not saying that there isn't a "core" gamer and a casual gamer. But I know that those terms aren't applied to the game you play, just how you play each game.

To me, Gamer=Gamer. That simple, why put in all these different types, and complicate it even more?

the casual /hardcore thing is annoying just because i take something not to serious i am labeled casual all that is needed and wanted to do is get all the fun experience from a game atleast i thought that was the idea for the men that created video games for us all not to just separate each other off. i tell my friends what my avi says everytime they have something to say when i am playing LBP

I agree 100% with you, Wii is commonly referred to as the child consol (or old person) just because it doesnt have the online copetitive nature of the 360. I know this because i played cod4 and WaW online and i hear what people say about this very topic. I bet if the wii had a friend code system like the 360 50% of the people who say "hardcore" wouldn't. besides that if you can press some buttons faster or in a better combination that doesnt make you "hardcore" it simply means you have better hand cordination and reations to the game. Wii is not a child consol it mearly reflects and stays (thank god) on the classics and even pulls over its classic relatives such as mega man and sonic and such for those who love the good old days of gaming. If people want to belittle people for liking the classics over the newest "realistic graphics" then just let them and go play a great round of kart or SSB

I do think there is some sort of deviation between what would be classified as Hardcore and what would be classified as Casual. Many of you seem to have it based on the competitive quality of the game, when that isn't necessarily true.

For example, let's take Call of Duty 4. I would say Call of Duty 4 is a hardcore game. There isn't anything casual about it. That doesn't mean that all players who play CoD4 are hardcore players, nor does it mean that if you don't play it you are a casual gamer.

Super Mario Galaxy, on the other hand, may be considered hardcore because it is different from the party games and the like that defines the casual market.

Whether or not you are a competitive gamer or not doesn't mean the game you play necessarily is. I think there is a deviation between them, whether or not it matters. It really doesn't matter, but it still exists.

Very good point Xander.
I think most of this is in people's head!
And thats where developers want that to be! It's ego you see, (pride for you who don't know what that means.. ) Not many people want to say that they are just a "casual gamer" saying that "Dudee... I'm a totaly hardcore gamers man.. I like play games a tonnnn man... I'm hardcore." Sounds better than "Yeah, I'm just a casual gamer" Pride sells. Especially in gaming.

Its what people have as an image of themselves. They want to seem tough by playing games alot and being good at them... (Some of you SSBB'ers...) so "HARDCORE!!!one!!" Sounds good.
But its all in your head.

We are all gamers. Lets leave it at that.

I agree. I hate the sayings, frankly. It gets pretty irritating when you hear it so often. It doesn't matter whether you're a casual or hardcore gamer. Games are there to play whenever and for however long you want. Chillax!

It's strange to hear someone attempt to label something/someone hardcore in a positive light.
