Judge a console by its games, and with that, SNES wins by far...
Super Mario All Stars/Super Mario World, A Link tithe Past, Donkey Kong Country, Super Metroid, Street Fighter2, great RPGs like Chrono Trigger, so many fantastic games that paved the way for the industry we know now. Was tempted to say N64, for Ocarina of Time alone, but overall, not as good as SNES. Gamecube had a few fantastic games, but no third party support, and Wii is not looking good so far, with a fair few good games, but very few true greats.

Easily the N64.
It had the best games I've ever played, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Goldeneye 007, Super mario 64, and so on. The graphics still hold up to the Wii, they aren't the best, but they're easily livable. The controller, I'll admit isn't the best, but it's easy to get used as well if you play it long enough. And of course, with what most everyone else has said so far, the nostalgia. I've played that console for so many hours, it's consumed months and years of my life, and I don't think any system in the future is going to be able to do that as well as the N64 did. |
