I've asked myself this question too. I believe it's this because the controls would be too complex and it may not seem as 'kid friendly' as the other Mario games.

I believe this because Disney (or whoever, I don't exactly remember) came out with a Disney football. The controls were pretty complicated and I didn't like the game as much as Disney Soccer or Disney Basketball. I didn't say that the game was bad, but it could have been better.

Hm... I just don't think it would sell well and it would be very limited. It's just like that NBA game with the unlockable Mario characters, you should actually consider that as a "test run" to extend the Mario Sports branch because after that, they made the successful Mario Hoops 3-on-3 which was actually the only time I liked a basketball game and its actually the only one I own of said sport. Tbh, Mario Football would be a huge failure, if you're looking at it from the normal view. Football games aren't that popular and they're pretty bad, I used to own a few and I hated them and ended up selling 'em. The only way I would see this happen is if they:

Reduce Team size
Variable Roster
Wacky Power-Up's (items)
Innovative Stages (fields)
Super Moves (either passes or kicks)

It would be a success if they made it like that, but they could go for the "test run" phase and do it like the NBA game 1st though.

(Mario Football: 4-on-4 DS doesn't seem that bad, I'd actually give it a try) On another note, it's just like hockey, they haven't made that yet. :P (there's a Yakuman one though, I think it was japanese domino)

They would definitely need to modify the game to those standards for it to even stand a chance.

i c where ur coming from but the thing is if they made football then they would get requests to make just about every sport known. So i think they did the right thing by not making it.

i'm preety sure that football is a little 2 violent for kiddies.. and i'm sure peach and daisy won't be allowed to play since i've never seen football played with girls...

As the football less most popular in Latin America so one of the this reason.
The second reason is there is nothing like in other war games and in race game there is great excitement in that.
