There has been Mario sports, from Tennis to Basketball.
But there has been no Football.
Why not?

...Mario Strikers Charged was kinda close to that. It'll happen sooner or later.

I have always thought of that. lol. But hey it would be a nice idea for Nintendo to make it. It would be more or less like the teams in Strikers.

Football isn't as popular as other sports in Japan.

My guess is that Football is mainly a American sport. In other countries Football is Soccer and our football is called American Football. In japan they don't play football. Nintendo is made by Japanese. Therefore no football Mario game...

Well... Mario Strikers Charged was made by a Canadian company, so I wouldn't say it's that much of a stretch.

But I'd also say that Mario Rugby is just as likely as Mario American Football. Just putting it into perspective.

Good question--
why not appeal to American gamers??

I'm all for Soccer(Football-Euro-style), and Baseball--and GOLF, Tennis, and Kart racing.
Oh, and Basketball(BTW I love him in NBA Street Vol. 3)--and Snowboarding (SSX On Tour)--(great game too)

But I'd LOVE to see Mario, and a few others take on some NFL pros.

you know Bowser and DK would make GREAT Linebackers.

But I don't think there's enough Mario universe characters to build a full 40+ man roster.
unless they do it w/ EA Big, and make a group as "special", or "secret" characters like in past EA Big games...

Good question, i never thought of that. But I guess like others said, there isn't a lot of worldwide appeal. Although creating a football/rugby could catch the attention of a portion of the world.
