Hello guys
I am going to give you a GUIDE XD for Meta Knight. For All the people who want to play with him. Okay : here goes. I know it is long but you dont have to read it if you dont want to XD. And here are some movies to watch in which meta knight plays at a Final of a Tournament. Vid 1 : Gimpy VS DSF Vid 2 : Gimpy VS DSF Vid 3 : Gimpy VS DSF They Had 3 rounds and Gimpy was the winner. With ridiculous speed, amazing range, very low lag, and the best recovery in the game, Meta Knight is one of the best characters. His only problem, however, is his lack of kill moves. Meta Knight can be played either very offensively, or very defensively. You can either overwhelm your opponent with a stream of attacks, or you can patiently sit back and wait for a mistake, at which point you rush in and capitalize. Contents Ground Attacks Grabs Air Moves Specials Video Ground Attacks A Damage: 1-3 Per Hit Knockback: Very Low "This guy needs to calm down,” says Masahiro Sakurai, the director of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Sakurai couldn’t have described it better when you, as Meta Knight, simply hold the A button. Meta Knight slashes like there is no tomorrow, hitting in front, above, behind, and everywhere else. But the range is extremely limited. Useful to punish people who like to roll behind you and attack immediately. The best use for this move occurs when you get somebody in it, and you are near the edge of a platform or near the edge of the stage. Hold the A button until they start to DI away, at which time you Down Smash the opponent. They can’t avoid this combo. Tilt Forward A Damage: 4, 3, 5 Knockback: Low Forward A is one of your best moves for pressuring an opponent. Slashing with the first hit on somebody's shield, and then alternating into a Down tilt creates great shield pressure. If it hits and you continue the combo it can lead into grabs or a Neutral B. Tilt Down A Damage: 5 Knockback: Low This move has ludicrous range, is ludicrously fast, and has ludicrously low lag. One of your best moves, easily. Down A is your best option out of shield, as it can trip an opponent, which can lead into more Down tilts, or a Forward tilt combo starter, or an Up B, or even a Down Smash. Versatile, Down A is a fantastic move. Tilt Up A Damage: 7 Knockback: Moderate Up A has a lot of range but isn't super fast (compared to the rest of MK's moves). This is a great move after a Dash attack or when the opponent is on a platform. And at higher percents Up A can be used as a kill move if you haven't used it much. Dash Attack Damage: 8 Knockback: Low The Dash attack isn’t Meta Knight’s best move, as it can be easily punished, but it does have its use. Due to MK's speed, you have a lot of options after the dash: Up A lands fairly often; grabs works well; and the Dash attack sets up aerial Up tilts. Forward Smash Damage: 14 Knockback: Moderately High Forwards Smash is one of Meta Knight’s strongest and slowest moves. You'll learn how to land this eventually, but still don't throw it out too often. Overall, Forward Smash is a good move, but not fantastic. Up Smash Damage: 9 Knockback: Moderate Up Smash is a great move to finish a quick combo, or to end a dash attack. It’s also good for hitting people standing on platforms above you. Its low knockback makes this a better combo move than the Up tilt, but worse as a kill move. Down Smash Damage: 11 Knockback: Moderate Down Smash comes out quickly, hits front and back, and has good (not great) knockback. You’ll be tempted to think, “when in doubt, Down Smash.” Avoid this. Try to use Down Smash only when it will either get the opponent into a good edgeguard position or when you know it will kill. You'll not only land better combos if you avoid spamming this move, but also find the Down Smashes that land on the opponent will be more effective. Grabs Down Throw Damage: 11 Knockback: Low The Down throw is so close to being the perfect combo move…but the opponent can airdodge or jump before you can reach them. Still, the Down throw is your best throw. It can be followed up easily with a Neutral B, or with Dash attacks, or with Forward aerials. Up Throw Damage: 12 Knockback: Low Up throw does slightly more damage than the Down throw, but you can't really do anything out of it even if you predict your opponent – it simply has too much lag. The Up throw is a useful kill move at really high percents, and considering how difficult it can be to land a kill move with Meta Knight, that may be a viable option at some points. Forward Throw Damage: 9 Knockback: Low This move happens so quickly that your opponents will often poorly react to it, which can lead to additional hits after the throw. More often than not, though, Down throw is a better option. Back Throw Damage: 10 Knockback: Low Back throw is another quick move that doesn't have a lot of uses. Stick to Down throw. Air Moves Neutral A Damage: 19 Knockback: Moderate Neutral A is by far Meta Knight’s strongest air attack if you manage to hit with both strikes, and is also a great edgeguarding option. Neutral A is one of those rare moves you'll kill opponents under 150%. Try not to spam this too much, so that when you need it, you can hit them hard. Forward A Damage: 10 Knockback: Moderately Low A great move for pursuing and adding pressure to your opponent, the three sword swipes from the Forward A seem impossible to punish and break through, but this isn't true. Randomly throwing Forward A will get you nowhere against a decent opponent, so you have to be careful when to use it. Back A Damage: 10 Knockback: Moderately Low This move obviously swings in the opposite direction as the Forward air, but otherwise it’s identical. Up A Damage: 6 Knockback: Low Up A is fast, fast, fast. You can chase opponents through the air, combo, deal damage, and intimidate your opponent. While it does low damage it is still one of your most useful moves. After the Up A combos the opponent, you can finish it off with the powerful Shuttle Loop (Up B) to get a KO off the top, or at least more damage. Down A Damage: 9 Knockback: Moderately Low Down A is MK's best gimping option. Down A and Neutral air are your best air kill moves, even though Down A has pretty low knockback. It has almost all horizontal knockback, which makes it ideal for gimp killing, and landing one or two Down A off the stages into an edgehog should guarantee a kill. Specials Mach Tornado Standard B Damage: 9+ Knockback: Very Low Mach Tornado eats through a lot of projectiles and can’t be broken with most Melee attacks. You are also highly mobile and can keep it going longer or shorter as necessary. So why not just spam it? Well, Mach Tornado can be easily punished by those who are patient enough to stay in their shield. Use Mach Tornado occasionally, but it’s not the best move for Meta Knight. Not even close. Drill Rush Forward B Damage: 10 Knockback: Very Low One of Meta Knight’s worst moves, if not the worst move. It does pitiful damage most of the time, there is no follow up option, and you can be punished easily. Avoid. Dimensional Cape Down B Damage: 14 Knockback: Moderately High Dimensional Cape can be used as a short teleport or as an attack. In order to attack, hold the B button after the start of the move, otherwise let it go immediately. The Cape is one of MK's hardest hitting moves, but it’s hard to land. How do you land it? Prediction and knowing when your opponent is vulnerable. While it does good knockback, the Dimension Cape rarely kills. Shuttle Loop Up B Damage: 9 Knockback: Moderately High The Shuttle Loop does have some kick to it, but it’s not very strong. Meta Knight can attack out of the Shuttle Loop, making the Shuttle Loop a difficult move to punish. Try not to use the Loop too often, but you can use it to finish air combos and to reverse edgeuards. Hope it is somewhat informative for Meta Knight players.
