i hate making patterns in city folk.
i always screw up when i have to use the pointer to get pin-point designs.
ill either wobble or my hand will shake and BAM. another mistake on my pattern.

is their any way to use the d pad, or the nunchuk?

I find it annoying too!
On the DS, I always used the D-Pad so I was always precise, but now my hands go all shakey and i'm always having to erase.

Yeah it's hard. But if you get used to it it'll be easy for you. But I'm not gonna make any patterns. See my town Eric? It's ok like that.

I found it annoying as well, but it's a get used to it thing I guess - although if you use like the gamecube pad instead there must be some way to not point at the screen...

Yeah it is very annoying. I wish I could just plug in my GC controller, and use that. Or why not the Nun Chuck? Come on Nintendo, you could have done better.

It is annoying I agree, It took them 2 games to figure out to make a zoom in option. If only you can use the D Pad along with the zoom in option. Try sitting down in a nice distance from the censor bar and moving it nice and sowly.

I've gotten used to it. I never buy any designs from Gracie Grace because I just make them myself.

I'll tell you guys how to reduce the percentage of screwing up on a design on AC:CF when making the design have your wrist rest on your knee it keeps your hand stable and you won't shake it as much when your making one
