Ok so i've tried several times to get paintings in my museum. The only place I know to get them is from Redd in the city. Thats how it was in every other Animal Crossing. So I have a few questions...
1) How do get real paintings? 2) Is there another way to get paintings? (Like buy from villagers?) 3) Did anybody here recently get a painting they already have in the museum that they could sell to me at a price of there choice? Thanks! -Dan

Actually, some of them will be spotlight items from Nook, as well.
Redd will sell both real and fake paintings; there's no way to tell which he's selling until you've purchased it and then tried to donate it to the museum. There's a thread here where you can ask for items (like the paintings) and there may also be people on that forum that are selling them.

Ok well thank you both very much. I forgot about the Nook spotlight thing. Come to think of it I remember I did see one like that once. I think it was on the DS version tho... Not sure.
Yeah I figured the only way to identify one would be just buying it. What about a good luck charm from Katrina? Would that do any good or no?

The question has been answered but the painting with Red you just kinda have to keep buying them in hopes of getting a real one.
