Making SotWs Better for the Average Member?

i like your idea Acdude. Well for the Dsigners who have awards and members who have the awards already they move up to the higher level Sotw's. But one thing ive noticed that either in a sig battle against a normal member or and sotw, it seems now people vote for the purple. (thats only my view of how people are voting now.) I also say we need to have better reasons on why a person like someones sig because they randomly say colors and composition. I would rather see people giving a more detailed reason on why it has good colors. Aswell as for voting reasons like "omg i like that character." or "Since i only know this person im going to vote for him/her". Which is not acceptable in voting. The other thing is that even though the DNA is mostly inactive, i think it would be a good idea for them to encourage people to make groups since people are worried about the activity of that forum. One of the main reasons probably why the section is dead is probably the fact that most people have moved to photoshop and when people with gimp ask "how do i do this." or "how do i do that." I see some people saying get photoshop. Remember not everyone has photoshop and no dont try to get them to pirate it because its wrong. As i stated earlier i said something about GFX groups, well for that i wanted to ask if we could also make some GFX SOTWs called GSOTW which will help promote people to make groups.

One more thing i would also hope that the gfx team can mix up the team even more with people who use different programs. Like for example jug was good with gimp. You can have someone who is good with gimp and other people with other programs on the team so more people can be helped in that forum.

Signature Of The Week is a simple competiton for a bit of fun and a battle in sense. If you dont win because someone is better than you its simple "improve" the reason sotw is hard to win is because people put lots of effort into it. Dsigners may win some but not always ive only won a couple recently cause ive improved so think before you speak on this topic as not everyone will win each theme some people do put more effort and time in such as the dsigners because we have experience thats it really nothing more. The reason that we shouldt split it up is because their arent many entries in the normal sotw as it is and not many dsigners even enter sotw sometimes so if we split it up we will just abandon sotw due to lack of entries. Theirfore no changes will most likely be made....

If you would like to win then enter, Even an attempt can win < theirfore
I propose we should have more entries first than even proposing to split the dsigners from sotw.

Agreed. Lets see some more activity in SOTW and overall in Mario Paint. Lets all attempt to encourage ppl to view Mario Paint and encourage them start designing. More ppl= activity= more stuff that we can add to Mario Paint and SOTW itself.

Maybe we can present a profile award to encourage those to bring more activity to Mario Paint?

It's not about winning, it's about having fun. I used to enter when I knew I had no chance and I'm sure many people do.

It would be pretty tight if we could have 2 separate SOTW's but right now it really isn't possible with the weak activity we currently have.

Well, I usually don't enter because I know there is no chance of me winning. Yes members do win sometimes. But odds have it that the DSigner will win.
This is the reason we don't have member of the month/week ect.

No, it's not about winning. But it's a hopeless attempt to enter if a DSigner enters. I enjoy making sigs for myself and other people. If I make one for the SOTW it's me trying to win...
Other people feel differently though. They will enjoy making a sig for the SOTW as much as they do for them selves.
But yes, I guess it is better if we wait. Activity in the Mario Paint forum is low at the moment.

Think of it this way...

You have a much better chance of winning if you actually enter than if you don't.

Using that mentality should we just not allow anyone who is more experienced at creating tags to enter SOTW? Since not all awesome artists are in DSigner. Then it wouldn't be fair for those certain people who want to enter. Having it open to any and everyone seems pretty fair to me and it's worked out for a long time. It's not like much Dsigners even enter anyway.

I mean look at the SSBB tournaments. Should we not let people who are renowned as "good" to enter just cause it lowers other peoples' chance of winning? Same goes with any sort of contest, broski.

Once activity goes up, a NSoTW or something can be thought of.
Just participate in a SoTW and have fun.
