It use to be free, back when the Wii first launched. Then Nintendo started charging 500 wii points for it...and now it's free again, so anyone who paid for it, gets reimbursed with a free 500 points or something like that.

Ummm... I heard things about how the latest Wii update could brick you system though.... is that still the case, because I think I need to update the Wii before I can get a free NES game... :/

People made such a big deal out of that, but really I haven't heard of anyone's personal tale of their Wii bricking from the update, hacked or not hacked.
