Seems more like a heating problem to me. If it overheats, it will turn itself off. At least check to see if your fan in running in the back.

If it is heating the problem check the sides and make sure it has enough space for the fans. Also try to unplug the wii so it can just let it cool.

This is why u get an intercooler for the wii. It works good and it doesnt overheat! U can buy it at game stop or EB games. U are welcome! Trust me on this because i have one.
