Twilight Hack Help
First off, I'd like to say don't post on this thread if you're going to say "OMGz yous a hacka SPAM SPAM SPAM". That's not cool.
Like the title says, I have no idea how to do it. Well, I have an idea, but I'm not good with techy stuff. Yes, I know I can go to Wikipedia and other places to learn how to do it, but I don't understand it. I have all the nessasary items (Wii, SD card, SD card reader). BTW: I use a Windows XP (I think). |

Im do not promise this will work or will not brick your wii. This is the information/files I used to help my friend do it.
Ok first off on doing this you need the files to "install" the homebrew channel. http://hbc.hackmii.com/dist/twilight...v0.1-beta1.zip Ok once you have downloaded this file you are now going to want to format your SD card to start with a blank slate. Formating WILL kill all data on the SD card so save it to a safe place if you wish to keep it form getting lost. To format it in XP, plug in your card reader and put in your SD card. Next go to My Computer and find the SD card. It should pop up as something like drive E or F depending on how many Hard drives and CD/DVD roms are in the computer. Once you have located the SD card right click on it and go to properties, next format the drive to FAT32. Make sure your formating the SD card and Not a drive in the computer. Next in the zip you will need to find the correct file for your region. The list goes as follows. Europe/Australia (EUR) RVL-RZDP-0A-0 JPN /private/wii/title/rzdp/data.bin Twilight Hack Asia (JPN) RVL-RZDJ-0A-0 JPN /private/wii/title/rzdj/data.bin Twilight Hack America (USA) RVL-RZDE-0A-0 JPN /private/wii/title/rzde/data.bin TwilightHack0 America (USA) RVL-RZDE-0A-0 USA /private/wii/title/rzde/data.bin TwilightHack0 America (USA) RVL-RZDE-0A-2 USA /private/wii/title/rzde/data.bin TwilightHack2 2. Copy the "private" directory from the download to your SD card. 3. Take your homebrew Wii executable (elf or dol file) and save it in the root directory of your SD card as "boot.elf" or "boot.dol" as appropriate. :Note: Look around and find the Homebrew Channel, its a great tool for homebrew software! :Note: 4. Now, put the SD card into your Wii and turn it on. 5. Go into Wii Options --> Data Management --> Save Data --> Wii. 6. Find your Zelda save, click on it, click "Erase", and click Yes. 7. Open the SD card and select the "Twilight Hack" save that corresponds to your game region. Note: Some people are having problems with the Wii not "seeing" the save file on the SD card. If you are experiencing this, try setting the archive bit for the data.bin file - in Windows this can be either be done from the file's properties dialog (right click on it in Windows Explorer and check the box) or from the command line using "attrib +a <path to data.bin>". More info at #wiihelp on Efnet. 8. Click copy and then yes. Now exit out of the menu. 9. Insert The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess game disc and run the game. * If you have the USA version of the game, load the "TwilightHack0" or "TwilightHack2" version of the game as appropriate (see above). * Otherwise, load the only "Twilight Hack" save game. 10. Once in the game, either walk backwards or talk to the man standing in front of you. Or here is a helpful how to video Well I hope that helps out a bit on how to get the homebrew going!

Thank you so much, but I have a question. How do I format the SD card? (Yes, I know I'm a n00b).
Also, I scanned over your entire post, and I don't think I would be able to do it because it doesn't make any sense to me. Ya, I need step-by-step instructions spoken in the easiest way you can. Last edited by Kamachi : 08-26-2008 at 07:11 PM. |

This is a classic case of, if you don't know what you're doing then you shouldn't be doing it. If you need a step-by-step guide then it's most certainly not in your best interest to even attempt it.
Getting the hbc installed is one thing, getting homebrew to work is another, if you run into problems or brick your Wii it's your own fault remember. If you really want to persevere with it then here's the step-by-step. 1). Download this 2). Download this 3). On the Wii, go to Wii Options | Settings | Data Management | Wii | Save Data 4). Copy your Zelda: Twilight Princess save to your SD card. 5). Put your SD card into your computer (the drive letter of the SD card is now known as "fat") 6). Browse to fat:/private/wii/title/rzde 7). Move "data.bin" to your desktop (this is a backup of your Zelda saved game file) 8). From the first file you downloaded there are 3 folders at the end of the structure, take the "data.bin" file from the folder called "rzde" and put it on the SD card in the folder you took your Zelda file from. 9) From the second file you downloaded take the file called "boot.elf" and put it on the root of the SD card (fat:/boot.elf) 10). Put the SD card back into the Wii. 11). Go to Wii Options | Settings | Data Management | Wii | Save Data 12). Delete the Zelda file from the Wii 13). Copy the Twilight Hack file from the SD card 14). Load Zelda 15). Select the Twilight Hack save file (pick either of them) 16). Walk backwards after the game loads (talk to the guy infront of you is your other option) 17). If the game crashes, wait! It'll install the hbc and you're finished. If it doesn't crash, restart the game and load the other Twilight Hack save file and repeat step 16, be happy as the game crashes and installs the hbc. 18). Download and open this 19). Extract the contents of the hbc_apps folder to the root of your SD card, so you should have fat:/apps fat:/N64ROMS fat:/scummvm 20). Enjoy, end of step-by-step guide. |

The second thing you told me to download wasn't a folder, it was just a file.

The same way you'd get files from the first link.
I'd suggest installing WinRAR to make things easier, from the sounds of it you're using WinZip which won't display folders the same way, instead, it'll just show you the pathnames to where the files would be extracted to instead which can be confusing to some people. This is what it'll look like ![]() |

I've never heard of any problems installing the hbc and it's been installed on thousands of Wiis so it's pretty safe but I'd still read the disclaimer that comes with it, and anything else you're installing. |

I'm not sure it worked or not, the Hombrew Channel isn't on my memory.
Maybe I didn't put the files on the root of the SD card? What is the root? Last edited by Kamachi : 09-02-2008 at 07:13 PM. |
