What is my Wii doing? HEEEEAALLPPP!!!!!

my Wii is a first gen model and ive had it for 2 years but back in september my wii quit playing all my discs for Wii and Gamecube but sometime in October it only played GameCube games and now its letting me start up SSBB after i put the disc in 3 times it will let me go to the character select screen and stage selection and thats all it lets me do. If there is anyone out there who knows whats going on with my system i would appreciate it alot!

i dont know what is wrong with it but i can tell you that what ever the problem it may have, you probably wont be able to fix it yourself so you will have to send it to nintendo. Maybe there is something wrong with the lens.
wii is online now

I think it's some internal problem you have there. Are the lens kind of dirty do you think? Is it in a warmer than average environment? And of course, have you dropped it? Answer these as thorough as possible. I'll back to help you once you have responded.

This is a common problem among "Launch" Wii units. The optic eye on the eye goes bad causing it not to be able to read any discs. I reccomend you try the following steps as they will not require you to open your system which could cause more damage.

1. Completely power down the console.
2. Power up the console and get to the Wii Menu.
3. Eject any disc currently in the console.
4. Press the eject button again, without any discs in the drive.
5. Insert the disc that you would like to play.
6. Check to ensure that the game disc is clean and free from scratches.

If these steps do not solve your problem, and from the sounds from it they will not, then your pretty much sol.....sorry to say it man. I say that only because your Wii is out of warranty but you cold call Nintendo and see how much it will cost you to get it repaired which I am sure that it will be cheaper than getting a new one. Let me know how it goes.

Yea sometimes if it was a mass problem then they will fix it for free. It's always worth a call to the big N as they have excellent customer service.

My ds hinge broke and nintendo said they'd fix it for 80 dollars or sell me a refurbished ds for like 100 dollars. Why couldn't they fix it for free? ;-; Well anyway I just used some superglue. Haven't had any problems since except for accidently gluing the r trigger but i fixed that.

By the sound of your issue its due to a dirty lens. If you wish to do it your self, find a lens cleaner for dvd/cd drivers. Run it and it should help your issue out.

Due to the fact it will not play Brawl correctly it is very likely Nintendo will fix your wii for free. I would contact support via email or phone and ask if it would cost to fix your wii.

As I said it sounds like its just a dirty lens. This is one of the most common issues with any CD/DVD/Blueray player.

It depends do have waranty or maybe you just didnt luck out because people at nintendo would usually do it for free if the person in customer service is nice
