Is Photoshop That Great...?
About a month ago I started using a program called Corel Painter X, and just recently I had to switch over to Photoshop CS3... do to... certain reasons...
I've been hearing from tons of people saying how great and so much easier Photoshop is to other programs... But when I started using it, I've only found it to be much more confusing and harder to work with... What exactly is it that makes Photoshop so much easier to use than other programs...? And if possible... I also want to know how one uses the shading and color blending on said program... Photoshop CS3 is much better imo. Better layout and there are many more effects to use... (I think? Didn't use GIMP for that long but oh well). Thats my opinion of course, if you think its worse thats your opinion...

It's basically the fact that PS is a professional program. Adobe is the company for everything, magazines, movie covers, all graphic beings...people go to Adobe.
Just because someone uses Photoshop doesn't mean they are better, if you can put good effective use to your program and keep up, then you are just as good! |

PS are for big things like ZG pointed out.
i use it for fun and it saves me from being bored.. GIMP is different its like PS but its runs very different from it less people use gimp and use PS.

Photoshop is one of the best photo editing programs out there imo. I thought It was great for professionals because when I first got it I was sooo confused with the tools lol.

I have the new Photoshop CS4 and it is really good alot more add ons and better in every way you can think of.
And also to me it is more better to live with. |

why would you think it's easier than a free program when it costs 1k? it's not easier, just cleaner and with more options, creating more possibilities

PS just has more options in almost every single aspect of every tool that you could imagine.. The smuding is SEX, the filters are all extrememly detailed down to the edges, and much more powerful gradients and lighting options than any program I've ever used.

I have GIMP at home, which is the normal program I use for graphics design. But I also have access to Photoshop CS3 Extended at my high school. The effects Photoshop has to offer separate it from any other program there is.

PhotoShop is way better in many different ways. It might be a little harder to learn, or atleast it is for me, but it has a lot more features and tops everything else.
