Pokemon Gym Badges

In the Pokémon series a badge is an item which indicates a Trainer has defeated a Gym Leader in an Official Gym Battle. When the required amount of badges has been collected by a trainer they officially qualify for that regions Pokémon League tournament. Aside from the Orange Islands League, that only required Ash to have 4 badges in the television series, a trainer needs 8 Gym Badges to enter a regional tournament. These small tokens of accomplishment also provide behavioral changes to the holders Pokémon as well as forcing lower leveled Pokémon to obey (gradually raising the bar as you obtain more badges). Being able to use advanced HMs outside of battle and purchase upgraded goodies at the Poké Marts aren't so bad either. Most of all we all know it's a nice way to show off!

There is a wide variety of badges throughout the many regions of Pokémon. Kanto Indigo League, Orange Islands League (Anime and Manga only), Johto League, Hoenn League, and the Sinnoh League all have Badges restricted to their separate regions. Though there are many unknown badges that have appeared on the television series Ash never ventured off to these places (Gyms) to obtain/introduce them. Each badge is different with a special design of its own. Pokémon has had many hits and misses in this department IMO. They went from creative (Kanto) and unique (Orange Islands, Johto) to dull with the lifeless Hoenn League set. Sinnoh shows there is still hope with the creative shapes and uniqueness in its region's badges! Taking all of this into consideration you might be wondering how they keep the badges looking fresh and sophisticated with there being so many of them! Well why not see for ourselves eh?

Make it work: Designs can look like whatever inspires you but must be 80x80 - 100x100 in size.

I will start off by showing my Badge Design.

The Barrier Badge



Clean also angled like Barrier reef coral, Gorebyss and Relicanth inspired coating with a Shell like makeup.
Gym thought: (Deep) Sea Pokémon Gym.

Wow, this is the most creative thread (beside the pro-nounce it one) you had ever created. Its kinda fascinating that you explain the series badges, yet create one of your own. Although it was a sample of whats to come, I'm amazed with your work. I'll be looking forward to yours & other members badge designs.

Tis a cool one! Plasma Badge would be for which type of Gym?
Is it transparent on the inside though? Can sorta see black through it. =/ Great job Tobi! ^_^

I used CS3 for mine. ^_^ Thanks! I already have one other one done just need to perfect it. =) (plus give other people a chance to post their Badge Designs.) Hope to see more creativity from everyone!

I think so, I like the effect the plasma is. I mean besides the black background of course, but the whole effect that reminds me of the ball of electricity that you can touch, that's a really cool effect. I love it

If you are gonna try em out you should look into the one Tobi used (it can be downloaded free unlike the one I used which you must buy). Also if I can find the other badge I made I'll upload it so you all can see. ^_^
