Flame orb + Guts?

Why burn yourself instead of poison? I thought the burn lowered attack? Is it different with Guts?

Guts cancels out Burn Attack reduction. And Burn takes less time to kill

if it cancels it out wouldnt it be better to use a toxic orb since it doesnt have the reducing effect?

Toxic Orb is better.

MY favorite Example is Swellow.

Toxic Orb, with GUTS and Facade. =]

You could almost OHKO anything.

So toxic orb is the same as flame orb except i believe flame orb takes less time to kill your pokemon

Toxic orb BADLY poisons, so it gets worse every turn, so it will kill you quicker

BRN status normally halves attack, however Guts cancels that out, so the end result boost to Atk is the same, regardless of which Orb you're using.


HOWEVER, this the difference:


Flame Orb reduces your HP by 1/8th at the end of every turn. This does not change.

Toxic Orb reduces your HP by 1/16th at the end of every turn PLUS an additional 1/16th for every turn it has been out prior.

so, for the first turn, it reduces HP by 1/16th, second turn, 2/16th (or 1/8th), then 3/16th, etc.
Tt never deals more than 15/16th in one turn (not that you'll usually live that long anyway).
Addtionally, once you switch out and back in, this increase in damage resets.



For reference, at the end of three turns (plus the initial turn in which the Orb activated), Flame Orb and Toxic Orb will have done the same amount of damage to the user.

Every time you switch in, that turn Toxic Orb will do less than Flame Orb for up to two turns.

If you switch in repeatedly however, Stealth Rock could wreak havoc on your HP, making the difference negligable.

uh dr00 PSN Status doesn't decrease the ATK stat, therefor with Guts the attack is increased.

You're saying both Orbs give equall result... I don't think so =[
