Good openers

I was just debating on which of my pkmn I would like to open up a battle with, and I got to thinking what do other people try and open up battles with.
So if you have an opinion on what you think is a good opener go ahead and list it here. I'll start with a few I've done/seen before so tell me what ya think.

Starmie - Ability Natural Cure
Nature: Timid
EVs: Speed/Sp. Attack
Item: Focus Sash

-Ice Beam
-Surf
-Thunderbolt
-Psychic

I like to start with starmie because she's fast and has an amazing moveset
that pretty much covers the board. Also good for those who like to go first turn Dragons and try and get a Dragon Dance/Swords Dance off and trample your team.

Persian - Ability Technician
Nature: Jolly
EVs: Speed/Attack
Item: Wide Lens

-Hypnosis
-Fake Out
-Faint Attack
-U-turn

Fake out is good for making a focus sash cry a little. Persian is on the same speed tier as Starmie so it's fast and with the wide lens 80% chance of putting your opponent to sleep is pretty nice. Then if you have type advantage such as they threw out a Gengar (Yeah Persian is faster than Gengar ^_^) Blast it with a faint attack and watch it faint/focus sash. And the always trusty U-turn into something they won't kill with whatever move they were going to use against your persian.

Well there's just a few of my thoughts let me know what you think and what's out there. ^.<

Really good openers are PURE Electric type pokemon since they only have one weakness and can do some neutral damage to most types. I would mention Normal types but I prefer Electric leads over Normal

Try this.

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Jolly Nature 252 HP/4 Atk/252 Spe
Stealth Rock
Trick
U-turn
Wish

I'm going to popularize this set if it kills me. Max Speed allows this little guy to Outspeed any lead EXCEPT Choice Scarf Gengar but it need max speed and a + Spe nature. Since it can outspeed a lot, it have no trouble Tricking the opponent while they SR or try and Taunt. While they do that I either lay down my own rocks or switch via U-Turn if they Taunt me. Wish offers a bit more support for other pokemon that are switching into traps and it gives Jirachi a healing move. The only thing that really gives me trouble is LeadApe (Keep in mind I'm still testing it) but I get SR down regardless.

i think jolteon is a good starter to bring out its good speed and powerful electric attacks because near everyone chooses like your starter pokemon or like a bird from the people i have battled.

I like leading with Machamp sometimes as well.

Machamp
Nature: Adamant
EVs: Atk/Def
Item: Lum Berry

-Stone Edge
-Dynamic Punch
-Earthquake
-Bullet Punch/Ice Punch/Thunder Punch/Fire Punch

I've come across alot who like to try and sleep your pokemon first.
This is very bad for them because they go sleep it hits you wake up
and pound the crap out of their pokemon if you dont one hit it
there's always that nice little screw you bullet punch and their opener
is down and yours is unscathed. Like this guy I just battled, started with Bronzong
I went Dynamic Punch (going first) he hit himself in confusion and had to switch out
to keep from losing it.

Very effective, but i dont think he could last very much against sashers.
Worth a try though, most teams have to adapt to mag before effectivily killing it

Im starting to see aerodactyl alot now.

Taunt leads are good leads, they do nothing but taunt you and force a switch on zongs, then they switch aswell.

ScarfMoltres lead ftw?!
