i heard that if u use it it lowers its speed is it true........

It only lowers speed while it is being held, similarly to Iron Ball or Slow Tail.

Its primary use is that it doubles EVs gained by a pokemon wearing it.

yeah macho brace doubles evs and only cuts speed during battle

a macho brace doubles the evs you get from defeating certain pokemon, for example if you battle a starly normally it gives you 1 ev in speed but with a macho brace it will give you 2

power items are better, they consist of:
power belt- reduces speed during battle but gives you an extra 4 evs when battling a pokemon that gives you def- for example graveler

power lense- gives you 4 extra sp attack evs when battling a pokemon that gives you sp attack evs like a gloom

power bracer- gives you 4 extra attack evs when battling a pokemon that gives you attack evs like a gyarados

power band- gives you 4 extra sp def evs when battling a pokemon that raises sp def evs like tentecruel

power anklet- gives you 4 speed evs if you battle a pokemon like starly or magikarp

power weight- gives you 4 hp evs if you battle a pokemon like bidoof

I would only suggest you use a Macho Brace if you can't get your hands on the power item you need. But combine Macho Brace and Pokerus and you'll gain EVs a heck of alot quicker.

the most you can get with machobrace is 12 evs and that is if you battle a pokemon that gives you 3 evs in a stat you want

with a power item which you can get in the battle tower the most you can get is 14, i do agree though if you cant get a power item use macho brace, but im sure in the trade section you can find all the power items from some very nice people
