First Studio Ghibli/Level 5 Screens

Quote:
In case you missed it amongst the flood of Level 5 news that hit the other day, the RPG powerhouse have teamed with Studio Ghibli to bring us Ninokuni, for the Nintendo DS. And...yeah, that's all you (and we) need to know before setting some money aside. While we wait to check the game out at TGS next month, you can check out these first screens for the game, along with some concept art and some shots of the game's magnificent packaging.
more screens and source: kotaku

Studio Ghibli, DS, and Level 5.... a perfect triple threat and i must say i'm immensely excited.
so far the screens look great and i have full faith in L5 to deliver with great gameplay to complement the visual aesthetic.

update:

we now have a trailer!

better quality trailer at Kotaku

youtube for the lazy.

if you don't know about Studio Ghibli then i feel bad for you

they're responsible for some of the best animated films: Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind, Grave of Fireflies, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki's Delivery Service and even a joint studio effort with Production I.G in making Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence to "name a few."

and now teaming up with the developers of Professor Layton. this is a match made in heaven for me.

Blasphemy at it's absolute highest!!!

As dr00 said, these are some of the best films ever made let alone that they're animated, some of which were made in the 80's and still set an example for todays film makers.

You don't need to be a fan of manga/anime to engjoy a Studio Ghibli film. I'm not a huge anime fan but I absolutely love Studio Ghibli and encourage you to watch at least one of the follwing;

Princess Mononoke (my favourite)
Spirited Away
Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind
The Cat Returns

I never knew about this until now so I'm kinda excited to see what this turns out like.

All this talk of SG means I'm going to buy another film from the collection!!

i'm in the same boat. i don't generally seem to like 'typical' anime but ghibli is definitely far from 'typical'

the only relation they have to anime is that they're animated and from Japan. all other similarities end there and Ghibli has some of the best storytelling in movies period. hell, even books. yes, i went there.

nice list.

i have to say that Kiki's Delivery Service and Howl's Moving Castle are my favorites though

well it was just annouced, so you haven't been missing out long.

i can't wait to see what the gameplay will be like. if professor layton is any example, i won't be disappointed though
