The GBA Has Been Dethroned
About 5 years or so back, I'm pretty sure we were all hyped with the unveiling of the Gameboy Advance SP. But it seems like something finally caught up with the epic handheld. Nintendo's new handheld baby, the Nintendo DS, has now officially outsold the GBA 84 million units to 81 million. The Nintendo DS, which has just received a major upgrade(The DSi), has a fanbase that will only keep growing an growing for it. This is a HUGE wake-up call to Sony and Microsoft. The Gameboy Advance, which was once declared by The Guiness Book of World Records as "The World's Most Powerful Handheld Videogame Console", will continue to live on, for it has given us many great games that are now all at a reasonable price. The Gameboy Advance will never die in the eyes of Nintendo's fans, but I can predict the Ds Will continue to thrive for a long, long time. Lets all keep something in that Slot-2 of our Ds's, for I can now unofficially say that the DS has succeeded the GBA.

Yeah, the SP was just sort of a last breath for the Game Boy line. The DS has been my favorite gaming source since its release, but I agree that the Game Boy won't ever be forgotten, from handheld gaming to the games that impressed people from it. Hoping that the DSi won't be a disappointment to players, though.

Salute the legendary handheld system.
lolz. The DS/DSi is the like the son of the legendary GameBoy franchise. The throne has merely been passed on to the next generation. ^_^
But yeah, I think the legacy of the gameboy will live on forever, It's impacted not just our lives, but all of the entire video game industry. I know I'll never forget it. |

I still have my GBA, GBASP, AND Micro and well over 20 games. At one point I had almost 50 GBA games, but I had to sell some for money...rough times, I tell ya. Anyway, the GBA will always be hands down my favorite handheld system ever besides the Sega Nomad and Neo Geo Pocket. Overall, I play GBA games in my DS more than I do my actual DS games. The fact that DSi won't have a GBA slot is a HUGE turn-off for me personally. Anyway I agree with everyone, the GBA will never be forgotten.
