The DS is more fun to play and have more interesting/fun titles, but the dont have my favorites. The PSP also just does more than a DS and for a person with large hands, I find it uncomfortable to play with the DS button as the are so close together and feel smaller.
The DS games keeps my interest but to answer the question which is better the PSP or the DS, the obvious answer to me is PSP. BTW I see people answering beyond the question, which of course never really answers the actual question.

The Sony PSP is the better games console. If you want to tap a screen then buy a DS, i'm actually embarrased to take my DS outside my house, the PSP on the other hand is awesome. It has games with PS2 graphics, (Not actually exaggerating =P) acess to any NES, SNES, N64, Megadrive, Atari, GBA, GBC, GB, PS1 and Sega Saturn games not to mention alot of the DS games. Custom firmware and Homebrew mean it's possible to do the things i've mentioned and even play re-made versions of older games (pogeymanz Silver for example). It now also has PSN Capabilitys including downloadable content and demos. It will soon have SKYPE, GPS a Keyboard and more in the next few months. It has UMD movie capabilitys not to mention music and video playback. I can also play Final Fantasy Vii Crisis Core n_n.

I have both. I like the DS because I like Nintendo Exclusives, such as any Mario type game, Zelda, Pokemon, ect. As far as the PSP goes, Mines downgraded so I can have emulators on it to play SNES games, and hacked games such as Impossible Super Mario World and other utterly impossible mario platform games.

There's nothing the PSP can do that the DS can't. The DS however can do more than the PSP, first off does the PSP have an interactive and intuitive way of playing your games... um NO! I need say no more.

If you want to see what's really a better handheld, then take the fight outside... when you're out and about take note of how many people you see playing against a friend on their PSP in the street or on the bus/train/plane etc Compare that to how many people you spot doing the same with their DS. See how many individuals you see playing each system on their own. I believe this should be quite conclusive pretty much anywhere you go.

Everytime I'm at an airport I can play against at least 3 other people at something on the DS and it's a good way to get to know people too. So far I've seen one person playing a PSP in public since it's release and that was just one guy on his own!

The nintendo ds lite is better in my opinion for all the nintendo fans!!

They both have their good qualities. . . but personnally, i prefer the psp. It can hold music and pictures. But sometimes when you buy a new game you have to update it. . . But luckily, you can use the game to update it.

I own both I prefer the Nds because i like more ds games than psp games. But PSP was great when the online games wasn't full of hackers using cheat codes to boot online game lobbys. I think PSP is only great when its hacked but other than that Nintendo DS FTW!!
