the basic rules of the game:

Rules
• Only Pokemon hatched from eggs are eligible.
• Pokemon must be able to evolve and be the first stage in its evolution.
• All Pokemon MUST be Lv. 5, no exceptions.
• Sleep/Freeze Clause is in effect.
• OHKO Clause is in effect.
• Self-KO Clause is in effect.
• Evasion Clause is in effect.
• Chance Item Clause is in effect.
• SonicBoom and Dragon Rage moves are banned.
• DeepSeaTooth item is banned.
• Meditite, Scyther, Sneasel, Yanma, and Tangela are banned.
• A Pokemon may only utilize moves legitimately learned by Level 5.

This include TMs, HMs, Tutor moves, Egg moves, and level-up moves*.
Except genderless pokémon who cannot breed for level-up moves.

Ubers/Banned (5)
These are too strong for normal play.

Meditite, Scyther, Sneasel, Yanma, Tangela.

Additionally the item DeepSeaTooth is banned. This only affects Clamperl.


OU (43)
These are very common, but not so strong they need to be banned.

EV-training: It works a bit differently in Little Cup.

Firstly, Vitamins are essential as you can't go past Lv. 5
Because Effort Values does show up until you attain a new level, all of your EV training must be done before it levels up to 5.
Additionally, not everything needs 252 EVs to max out.


here is a guide that should help (thanks go to Rucari):

To put it in simple terms, when a base stat ends in number x, then y number of EVs are required to max it at level 5.

Cubone has an Attack stat of 50 for example. Giving it more than 196 EVs in attack is pointless and the EVs are better spent elsewhere.

Also... to gain just ONE stat point, since you won't always want to max a stat:

4 - 4 EVs
5 - 76 EVs
6 - 68 EVs
7 - 60 EVs
8 - 52 EVs
9 - 44 EVs
0 - 36 EVs

Before you start, find your pokémon's range:

*Range 1 starts at 5, the lowest Base Stat for a Pokémon allowed in Little Cup (Happiny's Attack / Munchlax's Speed)
**Range 13 ends at 135, the highest Base Stat number of its range before entering the next (Munchlax's HP)
***Range 15 only includes Onix's Defense (160), as no other numbers enter this range. It is also the highest base stat of any Little Cup Pokémon.

Stat Formula
If anyone wants it here is the formula to work out the any stat at level 5:

For HP
(((2 x Base + IV + (EV / 4)) x 5 / 100 + 10)

If the stat is not HP:
((((2 x Base + IV + (EV / 4)) x 5 / 100 + 5) x Nature)

Base = The base stat for that Pokemon.
EVs = The number of EVs invested in that stat.
IVs = The IV for that stat (normally 31).
Nature = 1 if the nature is neutral for that stat, 1.1 if it is boosting and 0.9 if it is hindering.

Round Down the answer to the nearest whole number, and if the stat is HP simply add 10 points to the end result.

That formula should hold true for any Pokemon at Level 5, but it does not yet account for Nature boosts. I will update with them soon.

Some fun facts about stats at Lv. 5:
80 EVs = 1 Stat point
1 Base stat Point = 8 EVs
1 IV = 4 EVs

Well i do have 1 rule that will work well.

NO GO FIRST MOVES (quick attack, bullet punch etc.)
Them + life orb/sashed could beat a team single handidly

this is not a tournament, it'll work sort of like a clan and will have tournaments occasionally but mainly this will act as a place for people to find Little Cup battles.

also your point about priority moves doesn't apply here... they don't as much damage as you might think.

thanks for the list rucari. i had only seen one that included scyther only for the banned list.

i knew there was discussion about murkrow after the platinum tutor moves came out, so this list seems pretty up-to-date.
also of note, clamperl's other item and increases SPDef is NOT banned.

yes, EV training. you pretty much HAVE to use vitamins and fight low-level pokemon.

i also highly suggest using using a Power Items instead of simply Macho Brace and then putting Exp. Share on the 5 other pokemon in your party so your guy levels up more slowly.

i will eventually add all of these tips and such to the reserved posts though in a more well-thought-out way.
