Uttini Tournament

It struck me recently: Of the top tier players, how many of them actually breed and raise their own pokemon, instead of just getting the best? Do they win only because of their team, or do they know the game inside and out too?

Well, its time for an experiment. Some of those who have visited my profile have noticed that I play Star Wars Miniatures. In SWM, there is a thing called an Uttini (think Jawas) tournament. Basically, instead of building a squad to use yourself, you build a squad for your opponent to use. The result is a couple of pathetic squads, but very interesting battles. I think it would be interesting for the top players (Lopez and Outlawed?) to make the most pathetic Lv1 team they can come up with, (including bad IVs) then swap teams and battle. Alternately, I could breed some useless pokemon and give out the eggs.

If we did do this, I would want a video of the battles, or at least a manuscript of what happened, turn-by-turn.

What do you guys think? Anybody want to try it out?

You need permission to hold such a tournament should this go ahead.

I also know for a fact that 90% of the top trainers breed, IV breed, and egg move breed for the best pokemon themselves rather than getting the best from others.

OK. I wasn't actually planning on holding a tournament, just the battles. I was making a reference to a sort of tournament in SWM as an analogy for how this sort of game would go on. To be honest, I've never heard of a full tournament being held using this game style.

this sounds hell lulzy though.
i think there needs to be some requirements though. i could easily make you a team where the only move you have is agility or something.

Eww. The battles this would create would be awful and extremely time consuming as they would create teams full of 'mon without attacking moves and it would be the longest stall war in history of 'mon battling. x___x

Yeah, its Utinni........I'm so ashamed.

Anyways, I guess you two are right. Maybe I should just breed a dozen eggs of different pokemon, shuffle them and distribute to two players. The players would hatch them, then have a lv 1 battle. Some of the pokemon may be packing surprise moves, e.g. Cross Chop on an Elekid.
