Stickys Only Apply HERE for REVIEW TEAM!

Quote:
Ola Minions,

As you know we dont have a review team yet for this website so I am putting myself as team leader and am looking for applications on why you think you should be on this team. I am looking for members who have a decent post count and have been active here for a while. I have had experience reviewing games before and if you dont know what your talking about I will know. This will have its own forum topic and we will be the only ones that can post there. I dont know whether we will review games as a team or individually yet but I am leaning towards team. Please make haste on the applications because I am making my decision on April 21st. That is all.

Your commander and chief, and Reinharts
official belly dancer.

-----

I know this is an old thread, but I'm opening it back up to jury admission for the team through somewhat of an application manner.
If you are interested in applying for the Review Team, please fill out the following form:
Review Team Application

-Name:

-Any other commitments that may take away from the fullness of this job:

-Prior Experience with game reviewing or persuasive/informative writing in general:

-***Post Examples of your work***
(This is now a required field)

-Why should you be apart of the Review Team?

----------------------------
Hope to see lots of new reviews and some new members,
Yours Truly,
Yoshii

P.S. - Strictly Applications Only. No chatting.

----------------------------
You will be more likely chosen for the Review Team if you have already made WiiWare reviews, for we are in great need of some. If you have any out, make sure you link us to them in the "Post Examples of your work" field. As a fellow moderator had once said:

1) marvman3

2) Univeristy life, Work, Business and Pleasures.
But is currently on vacation till June the 22nd.

3) Was an ex-Elementary School Teacher aide, Debate team captain, 4.0 in English II, Speech class officer, Journalism/International Studies major.
No experience what-so-ever in game reviewing compositions, but willing to try. Is a sales/marketing agent and knows how to "sell" merchandise/products much less games.

4) Check out marvman's blog or threads.
Informattive works are under "News Casts" category.
Sorry, no time or space to post works here.

5) Marvman is a dedicated journalist, who relies on credible and reliable sources for his news casts.
He is honest, perservering, humorous, a talented writer, and always tells it like it is. Should be a valuable part of the team, and could add something your crew is lacking in terms of personality, and charisma.
Marvman has alot going on in terms of personal life issues, but is willing to help out, and join the review team as a try out.
New experiences are always good.
Rockn.

Commitments: Work. Depending on how the current application process goes, it's kind of hard to say. However, there is always time to slam down 1,000 words on a solid (or not so solid) game and in an attempt to convey said game's worth to the rest of the consumers, who would like a (hopefully) educated opinion regarding the supposed worth of the newest (or oldest) addition to their favorite gaming consoles lineup. (no, that is not a run-on)

I have written many things, whether it was an argument in my degree program or a letter to a friend in need. I am always persuasive, and almost always right. (give or take a few points )

Here is a link to my blog which should allow to see a recent review of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

http://www.wiipals.net/Forum/blogs/16342-stephen.html

I don't know what to say, I think there are a lot of different types of reviews on here, certain some better than others, which is to be expected. I simply hope that my point of view is something that can be appreciated by many and helpful while never overly flowery. I will not lie if a game is bad, as it is not my fault if the game is not worth the box it came in, however, when a game deserves a lofty status, it indeed receives it. Additionally, I know my weaknesses and will work to improve upon them (particularly, formatting the look of a review).

1. NjSoccer

2. I have soccer practice or games on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. But i dont have to go to all of them, and i could always make time for this

3. Well i have written many things for my school, such as papers and and other thats got awards. The only other thing that i have tried to make a semi-review on this site was My MKDS For Dummies Thread . That took me a while, but i think i could do better with specific instructions and hard work, along with all of the other review members.

4. Why should i be a part of the review team?
Well, i have always been a nintendo fan. I have loved and played almost every series that Nintendo has ever made.
I think i am able to work hard on something, and show a good amount of effort to help out with a review to be presented to the site.
Lastly, I was like to myself "D000d! The review team is opening spots?!?!?!?!" I was extremely exited about these jobs opening. I have wanted to be one for a while now, and i've been here for a while to try to help out.

Thanks,
Nj

Yagami Light

I'm busy on Saturdays, and I only have a little bit of school left.

I'm wanting to join because I feel really good when I know I'm helping people out, but also because of the unfortunate event in my past forum when I was and admin and was demodded, humiliated, and lied to by the admin who was closest to me...ever since then I've been lonely and unable to forget the event. So I'm joining also to make new friends with the team, .

(this is for everyone who can't post reviews)
If you find that you cannot post here then it is perfectly okay to post a review on your blog and pm any of the RTM's. In fact, if you're a bit shy it's even better as it's a bit more private and you can make major changes without many people knowing.

We will take a look at it and give you our feedback. Heck, if it's a blockbuster we'll probably ask you for more examples to see if you can duplicate your masterpiece.

Try to format your review as best you can - it needs to be visually entertaining as well. All black text tends to just run together when your reading a long post. Give it your own style. No one style is the "official" style around here. Just try not to go overboard and use really light colors that are hard to read on the light blue background. examples; Pale Turquoise, Light Blue, Lemon Chiffon

Here's an interesting article on reviewing video games at variety.com;
The other important thing to remember is that different games have to be reviewed in different ways. If I had spent much of the time in my review of "Boom Blox" focusing on the game's minimal story, for instance, that would have really missed the point. It's about the experience of interacting with those puzzles, as well as building your own. On the other hand, I focused primarily on the humor in "The Simpsons Game," because to me, that was the point of the game and the primary way in which I experienced it (others disagreed and focused on the merely adequate gameplay, which is why I gave it a better review than virtually anyone else). Different games fall at different places on that narrative/interactive spectrum and reviews should adjust accordingly.
Good luck everyone! And keep up the hard work for those already submitting reviews.
p.s. No plagiarism, of course. Something like that would drag down NintendoWorlds reputation. Not that anyone would... anymore.

Review Team Application

Super Brick:

-Any other commitments that may take away from the fullness of this job:

  • Education, nonetheless I do dedicate most of my time working on the computer.

-Prior Experience with game reviewing or persuasive/informative writing in general:
  • Old reviewer on a previous forum (I favor not to reveal it's name.)
  • Posting Reviews curruntly on NW.

-***Post Examples of your work***
  1. Diner Dash: Sizzle and Serve [DS] - Review
  2. RedSteel [Wii] - Review

Here are several of my longer texts on Nintendo Worlds, they might give you better note on my writing style.

-Why should you be a part of the Review Team?

I’m not sure if I am the one to judge, however I will try me best.
  • I try to put the best deal of effort into my reviews.
  • I try to make the best flow on my reviews.
  • I’m previously known to be a good writer, fit to write persuasive paragraphs .
  • I’m a good critique, I also take on criticism well.
  • I frequently buy games.
  • I am well able to review a game without having it, in some cases.

Super Brick

Nothing much, I might have to stop making sigs but I'm not very good at that anyway.

-Prior Experience with game reviewing or persuasive/informative writing in general:

I have done a Game Review on SSBB for my school Newpaper, (Will try to find... I lost the file), and well, I'm a straight A+ student (Witnesses - Ask Demon).

-***Post Examples of your work***

Not a game review but a little excerpt of an essay I have wrote to see my writing style.

-Why should you be apart of the Review Team?

I think I would be a very good addition to the team because I am hard-working and such. I have good grades, and I want to help out more.
