Harvest Moon DS is a fun game with a solid story.
You play as a farmer who has to try and rescue all the 101 sprites and Harvest Goddess which have vanished because of the Witch Princess’ spell mishap. Whilst trying to find all 101 sprites you have to make sure your farm is running smoothly by growing crops and raising animals.
By selling your farm products (eggs, wool, milk and crops) and virtually anything else you can find lying around you can earn money which will help keep you and your farm healthy. You can also buy new bird and animal sheds. Not forgetting house upgrades.
Other things you can do to keep yourself occupied is mining. When mining you can find many precious things which will sell for lots along with different kinds of stones which you can use to upgrade your tools (Axe, Fishing Pole, Hammer, Hoe, Sickle and a watering can).
If that’s not all you can go fishing, create new recipes for food, collect harvest cards and even marry one of the bachelorettes and have a family.
Graphics
I think the graphics aren’t disappointing as they are as expected of the DS. They’re a little glitchy in some places but that’s the same in many games. The game has a kind of retro look to it as well, but this game isn’t really about the graphics. It’s about the game play.
Game Play
There is endless game play as there is so much to do and it will take a while to get boring. Although if you’ve played any of the previous Harvest Moon games you will find it a little repetitive. Although there are some new features like the Sprite Casino which you can play at to earn medals which will get you new items.
Pros
+ There’s Lots to Do
+ Cute Graphics
+ Fun Story line
Cons
+ A little repetitive.
+ Can be Frustrating at times.
+ A bit too similar to the other games.
Overall
Overall Harvest Moon DS is a great game if you’ve not played any of the other Harvest Moon games as it is different to other games as the genre is farming role play. Although this game would be great for anyone as it is a relaxed sort of game. If you like the Animal Crossing series I would recommend this game to you as it feels as though it has been inspired by Animal Crossing and elements in previous Harvest Moon games.
