Wiiware hasn't made enough games that make such good use of the wiimote, so as soon as I saw that there was a music/rhythm game, I jumped on the opportunity to get it, and I wasn't dissapointed with what I got.
Graphics
Open your windows media player and play a song, then add a robot in there. That's basically the graphics. There's not much other than a swirly gradient background with a robot dancing at you in front of it.
Yup...Thats the whole game
Sound
I'm not a big fan of house music, and that's basically all you get, so prepare yourself for that.
Replay Value/Gameplay
Here is where the game really shines. Basically, you take two wiimotes in hand and move to the beat ala Samba De Amigo. A robot tells you what moves to do a couple of beats before you're supposed to do them. It takes a little bit of getting used to, and for the first couple songs, your arms will hurt, but once you get the hang of it, it's definitely a lot of fun. The game allows you to calibrate your moves so it can get a more accurate way of knowing how you do them.
Helix has about 25 or so tracks (which is a pretty dang good deal for 10 bucks).
Unfortunately, however, those tracks are all pretty much generic house music, and the lack of true multiplayer is where the game fails the most.
All in all though, helix is a fun game that should keep you entertained...At least until Samba De Amigo comes out.
I'll give it a modest
7/10
