Fox Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword IMPROVED Review

Dear Gamers of Nintendo Worlds,
This is the first game review I have ever made. I have put lots of effort into this review. I have chosen “Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword” as the game I would like to review. Please read the review and give comments. Please be honest because these comments will help me out with future reviews I may make.

Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword Review

Producer: Team Ninja
Publisher: Tecmo
Rating: 8.5
ESRB Rating: Teen - Violence, Partial Nudity.

Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword, just as every other game, has its ups and downs. This game is like other Ninja Gaiden games and expresses the conflict between the Hayabusa clan and the Black Spider clan. Before you even think of beating the game, there is one thing you must master: the stylus.
The stylus, similar to Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is an essential part of the game. The only time you do not use a stylus is when you are blocking or rolling. The blocking and rolling involve holding the left part of the control pad. Some of the other moves you will be doing are the Direct Attack, the Izuna Drop, the Ninpo (this is actually done when you tap an icon at the corner of the bottom screen. Once you have done this, a symbol appears on the screen, and you must simply trace over it to perform the move), and the Ultimate Technique. In this game, you have no break. Its continuous action as you cream any fool that blocks your path. The whole game makes you feel like a total badass. Another important part of this game is that you hold your Nintendo DS sideways, like a book.

Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword is a little different from other hardcore games because of the way it is divided. The producers divided the game into chapters, and the Game Over screen simply leads you to the beginning of the chapter. The game also has cut-out comics to show the scenes in between. These comics are delicately cut and colored and are a true work of art.

Throughout he game, like most other adventure games, Ryu will face bosses, including the Head Ninja and Master Ninja. You will use the Dragon Sword as your primary weapon. The powerful blade is passed down from generation to generation in the Hayabusa clan. Ryu’s predecessor passed down the sword to him. This explains how the game got its name.

With Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword, as they struggled not to get the game an “M” ESRB rating, the developers could not lengthen the game. The game is extremely short. If you play straight without interruptions, it should take you about 6-7 hours. The graphics show exceptional beauty, and are definitely worth it.

Even though the game is pretty short, playing did fill up my belly. The game is satisfying with exceptional graphics, excellent gameplay, a good story, and a great sense of adventure!

Graphics: 9.5/10 - These graphics were truly amazing for a DS game!
Sound: 8/10 - The music is questionable. However, it gives gamers a sense of adventure.
Controls/ Gameplay: 8.5/10 Like LOZ: Phantom Horglass, this game heavily depends on the stylus. Points were taken off because of the lack of use of all the DS features.
Story: 9.5/10 - The story distinguishes it from other Ninja gaiden games and is great, even though it is repetetive.
OVERALL: 8.9/10

As a suggestion, you could have just edited your other review instead of posting a new one altogether.

Umm. I think this is an Okay review. But I do recommend all reviews be written in the format Yoshii used for his Guitar Hero 3 Review http://www.wiipals.net/Forum/f57/guitar-hero-iii-legends-of-rock-review-14112.html. It is very well done and I believe that this is the best and detailed review I had EVER read.

Pretty good review - your thoughts on how the game played rather than how to play the game was fairly well done. A little more of this in the other segments (graphics, game play, etc) would be great.

A few nits to pick - layout, images and paragraph formatting could be a bit better. Experiment with using <center> and <indent> as well as using your own photo-bucket (flckr, etc) acct to reformat the images - copy the images into paint, re-size them to a similar width and height then upload them to your own account and use that as your source.

Paragraph flow - it seems that you jumped from the setting to the game-play and then back to the setting. It helps the reader in following along if you lump all similar thoughts together (setting then game-play then graphics, etc).

Also - 8.9 for a "short" game? Personally I would mark it down more than this or highlight it more but you did do a good job in justifying your reasons for not holding against the developers.

Overall good review. Keep them coming as practice makes perfect and all that.
