Paper Mario Review

Paper Mario is indeed a game like no other. With memorable characters, wonderful music, a different yet great battle system, and a story line that will have you begging for more, Paper Mario is a must have. This game will take you from Mushroom Kingdom to Goomba Village, Penguin Town, Sewers, to Bowser's Castle.

STORY

The story begins when Bowser steals the majestic star rod and kidnaps Peach, again. The star rod ( not from Kirby! ) has the ability to grant wishes, which means trouble for our heroes. Mario is of course going to save the day! After being defeated by Bowser, he awakens in Goomba Village, and meets some nice Goombas. Mario and the friends he encounters go on the adventure of a life time to save Peach, Mushroom Kingdom, his friends, old or new, and the world.



Music and Graphics

The music will have you humming to it's beat, as you fight Koopas, dash across Mushroom Kingdom, or adventure in the sewers. With many new tunes, the music never gets boring. There is classic, show tunes, and even rock! The graphics are paper like and the creators use that to it's fullest potential. I don't really care for graphics, but those who do, the graphics aren't that bad.


Battle System

The battle system is turn based. Attacks include jumping, hammering, using abilities, and your partners' various attacks. There are also timed hits, in which if you press A at the right time, you will receive less damage or inflict more damage to the enemies. It will always say when to press it, so don't worry! You can also use items, including the famous Mushroom. Also besides abilities and attacks are badges. Badges cost Badge Points, which you can raise by leveling up, and have an effect, which varies from always inflicting Ice damage, +5 HP, an ability, or seeing your enemy's HP.



Conclusion

Overall, this is a master piece which I can't stop playing. If you love a solid RPG with great characters, an unforgettable story line, a battle system which will make you always want to fight an enemy, or hum worthy songs, then Paper Mario is truly for you. I give this game a 9/10.
