Yoshi Professor Layton Review

first of all, i would like to point out that replay value does not count in my scores. but, in a way it has great replay value by letting your friends look stupid

GAMEPLAY

this game has great puzzles, there is no such thing as bad camera in this game. the best thing about this game, is that the puzzles are extremly challenging. so you never get left without a good puzzle. it may be frustrating at times, tho

GRAFICS

this game's graffics are cartoonish, BUT they blend in very well. not much to say.

SOUND

suprisingly, they didn't put much effort into the music. it is repetitive and boring.

Extras

awesome! abl to download new puzzles in wifi. once a week, but hey, it's better than nothing, right?

OVERALL 8.5/10

As Nintendo-Guy said this review is pretty short.

I like how you put your opinion into the review, but you need to make it longer and explain the contents of the game more. One last thing, always check for wrong word usage/spelling errors.

While a "short" review isn't a bad thing unto itself how about answering a few questions and see if you can make a compelling argument for me to buy this game (please make your changes in your review so we can track your progress);

Do the puzzles become extremely challenging right away or do they start of easy and then get progressively more difficult? Do the clues make sense? Is there any time that you thought you were hopelessly stuck and had to resort to using a FAQ? What exactly is frustrating - finding the clues, piecing them together, etc?

Actually there is a lot more to say - Do the graphics make sense within the framework of the game? Would more lifelike art help or hinder the game? Did the developers make good use of their decision? As this is not a shooter or action game we should be able to skip any frame rate questions... unless there are some and it spoils the game play.

What is your suggestion? Would the musical score (I believe that's what we're talking about) have been better if it had incorporated a more modern tone? Did the music clash with scenes (i.e. somber and brooding during an supposedly exciting scene)? As for the sound effects - did they work? Were they bleeps and bloops that reminded you have some "ancient" 8-bit game? What would have worked better?

Actually, "nothing" is be better than a poorly implemented "something". Is the DLC easy to get? Do the new puzzles work within the context of the original puzzles? Can you make your own or do you have to settle for what you can get?

I see your score but numbers alone do not compel me to buy a game. Why should I buy this game. As you may not know my preferences in game types how do I know that what you liked about this game is what I (or any other reader) will like about it? What did you like and not like and why?

1. What about this game made you feel either satisfied or unsatisfied about buying this game as well as devoting your time to playing it? Was it a positive or negative experience and why?
2. Why should anyone else want to buy this game? What will they get out of it? Is it worth their time? Is it worth their money? Why?

I'm not asking for a "how to play it" as I personally do not like to see those kind of non-reviews (I can read instructions and faqs as well as anybody else). What I'm asking for is a compelling reason to buy this game.

Please take this as a nuetral assesment in a context of helping you help us make this furom a better one.

Thank you for your time and contribution.
