Story Line
The fourth game of the Star Ocean series takes place in 2064, after World War Three. The war left our home planet uninhabitable and humanity was left on the brink of destruction. Though there was still hope. Going ahead to 2087 the USTA (Universal Science and Technology Administration) have been trying to create ships for deep space exploration. They have finally succeeded and are ready for their first launch.
The main character is a young man named Edge Maverick. He and his team set out to find new planets, find his old lost childhood friend and eventually get sucked into the responsibility to destroy the evil grogori that induce unnatural evolution which will eventyally lead to the destruction of the universe.

Graphics
Game Play: The graphics are ok. They show great detail at a distance but up close they look plain. This is mostly when your in buildings. The actual environment on the planets can actually be very beautiful at times. Then when it comes to the voice of a character talking, they just don't match up. If you watch the mouth of someone it will sometimes be closed when there are still talking going on. The camera view can also be a annoyance at times, like if you’re in a building. If you try to go around a corner and your too close then you sometimes disappear or stop for no reason.
Battle Mode: The battle mode is the better of the graphics. Each move, attack or spell (symbology) is distinctive and unlike the in the game play you don't have to worry about the camera view messing you up.

Sound
Music: The music is deferent for each setting (except when you’re in battle mode). They are all nice, though I'm sure that after a few hours of running around in circles lost (like what sometimes happens) and listening to a particular tune almost none stop it could get on your nerves.
Sound: I really liked the sound effects. In battle you can tell what's happening most of the time and out of battle you can tell if a monster is after you. Then each little sound just add the effect to the setting.
Extra: After each battle one (or more) of the characters will say something like "It's not like I was holding back, but is this all they've got?"- Edge or "I could have done this all by myself."- Lymle. Again, it's nice, but if you prefer this one particular character and you keep getting the last blow then it too can get annoying.

I really enjoyed the game. With all the different settings, monsters, weapons and private actions it keeps things interesting. Then there are interesting climaxes on a regular basis to keep you playing. It's not that interesting once the main story plot is finished so replaying may not be the top thing on your list of to-do. Though it's long enough to keep you entertained for a long while.
