Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
In Super Mario RPG, Mario, Bowser, Princess Toadstool, Mallow and Geno fight as allies in the first console role-playing game (RPG) in the Mario series. It contains token similarities to many other Square role-playing games such as Chrono Trigger and the Final Fantasy series with a story and action-based
gameplay based on the Super Mario Bros. series. Mario's enemies are visible in the field; a battle ensues only if he comes in contact with one. This allows
the player to evade unnecessary battles, though some fights are necessary to advance the plot. Avoiding battles also means acquiring fewer experience points, causing characters to take greater, and inflict less, damage from attacks, making battles more difficult.
Battle system
The battles themselves are a blend of platforming elements and traditional role-playing game battles. As well as selecting attacks, the player is usually required to perform action commands to increase the damage done. These consist of timed button presses and other movements (such as pressing A at the right moment, rotating the control pad or pressing Y repeatedly) to determine the power of the character's attack, a concept that was carried over to some later role-playing games such as Final Fantasy VIII. As
with many other role-playing games, items are an important tool in battles. The need to perform action commands in between navigating menus requires the player to be engaged in the battle the whole time.
However, much of Super Mario RPG's gameplay is outside of monster battles. In the field, the game plays much like an isometric platformer, in which traditional Mario features and new ones, play a key role. There are five characters the player can control: Mario, Mallow, Geno, Bowser, and Princess Toadstool. Each character has a unique set of attacks and techniques.

The game play for this game is phenomenal! I still own this title for the SNES, but as a Wii VC game having this title grace my Wii with it's presence is truly an epic win. I have had my fare share of time spent playing on this game so I thought I'd include some of what wiki has to say about the game as well as the game play. I personally am a huge fan of this game. The story & game play are in my opinion completely epic!
The Mario characters along with the new characters introduced by SquareSoft is still an epic meld of creative vision on behalf of Squaresoft [aka: SquareEnix].
Some people of late have been asking me if this title "feels dated"? I respond with a resounding NO. There is a slight refrence to the "Power Rangers" in this video game but last I checked the "Power Rangers" were still on TV. There are even a few internet parodies here & there, so there is no need for worrying about a "dated feel" at all with this title.
Though granted the style & look of the Mario game may seem "dated" but at the time that this game was released this was the first game in which Mario fans first saw a glimpse of a 3D Mario. So in essence Squaresoft is the first company to show Nintendo the way to 3D with Mario cause if any one would ever notice after Super Mario RPG was released the Super Mario 64 version looks awfully similar to the Super Mario RPG 3D version
There is some real Mario history with this game as well as epic game play. There is so much replay value that it's not even funny! Here are a few of the features:
~ Mario’s first debut in a RPG game
~ 20 hours of game play
~ Seven stages and 29 areas to explore
[

~ Princess Peach & King Bowser as a party members
~ For one player/ nowifi
This game is REALLY a LOT of fun. I rate this game a solid 10. Cause even still to this day people demanded that it be released to the Virtual console & that says a LOT about how GOOD a game is even thou this game is clearly 12 years old, seeing as this game was released in 1996.
I personally really do enjoy playing this game still to this day. I must admit that even though I
do have the SNES version of this game I would HIGHLY recommend this title to ANY RPG OR Mario fan! So what are you waiting for? If you haven't downloaded this title already DO IT NOW!

You won't regret it!!
