[Wii] The Conduit - Crazy's Review

The Conduit

Consoles:
Wii
Genres: Sci-Fi First-Person Shooter

Publisher:Sega
Developer: High Voltage Soft.
Release Date:Jun 23, 2009
ESRB:TEEN
ESRB Descriptors: Blood, Mild Language, Violence

The Conduit is a science fiction first-person shooter, developed by High Voltage Software. It is only available to the Nintendo Wii and features online multiplayer.

Plot Summary:
The campaign story line is based on an alien invasion of Washington, D.C. in the near future. The alien race, which is known as the Drudge, uses the anonymous portal-like Conduits to utilize their forces throughout the city. A shadow government organization called the Trust, sends new agent Michael Ford into the area to disrupt a terrorist threat, but he quickly becomes involved in the fight to stop the invasion and rescue the capital from complete destruction.

Gameplay: The Conduit provides a fairly normal experience of a first- person shooter, with everything taking place from the perspective of the character that is being used. The Conduit gives much choices to players with customizable control features such as cursor sensitivity. In general, The Conduit is mainly spilt up into two main Gameplay Modes.
They are Campaign and Multiplayer.

Gamplay Modes

Campaign

In this single-player campaign mode there is nine exciting missions for the player to complete. Cut scenes, television and radio broadcasts tell the story and are located randomly throughout a mission area for the player to track down. The radio broadcasts really bring some life into the levels and make it seem quite real. The single player in general is quite straightforward. You run through Sci-Fi themed levels shooting aliens, guards and other enemies. It can get quite annoying if you cannot seem to get past a certain level but don't fret as you can change your difficulty and make it easier or harder.

The main enemies of The Conduit are an insect-like alien race called the Drudge. Their forces are divided into five main types: Mites, Drones, Skimmers, Scarabs, and Invaders. The most dangerous enemies are Invaders which are giant insectoids that serve as bosses in the game . Drudge-controlled United States military personnel and Trust agents are other enemies that the player could die from. The Drudge portal, or Conduit, is an item that can be placed throughout a level to allow Drudge enemies to spawn from them until they are destroyed by the player.Drudge-healing Regenerator Units and radiation-producing Pulse Boxes also appear in the game.

Multiplayer

Multiplayer in The Conduit features three competitive multiplayer modes for online play with seven different maps and 18 weapons to choose from. The multiplayer modes include, Deathmatch and Capture the Flag modes. Multiplayer features up to 12 players simultaneously battling it out. Players can choose playlists with randomly-selected players from locally or around the world, or with players who have exchanged friend codes. The Conduit will use WiiSpeak so players will be able to communicate with one another by means of voice. You can mute/unmute players in the player Lobby, and can add friend's friends by simply pressing + on your Wii mote. If the host wishes, he can not choose to start the game in the player Lobby and chat amongst the other players. You must have Wii Speak to be able to communicate with other players however even if you don't you can still hear other players. You have a maximum of 32 people that you can exchange friend codes with which is a little slim but sufficient. You can send friend invites to friends that you have on your Wii console which make it really easy to rack up 32 people onto your list. It is not at all nesscary to have friends at all as the Regional and Worldwide modes really find players at high speeds and you can get your match done as soon as possible.

My Review

The Conduit is the greatest first-person shooter on the Wii...ever! If that is not a great enough reason to buy it don't worry because The Conduit has many more mesmerizing features that will lure you in. The Conduit is designed exclusively for Wii owners with graphics that match up to the Xbox 360 and PS3. It features the most customizable, accurate and amusing controls of any console shooter created, indefinitely. The Conduit online play matches and competes with that of Halo 3's and Cod series with a firm ranking system and Voice chat that will keep you coming back to it again and again. With a full range of weapons to choose from, 8 different maps to fight on, and a original storyline, The Conduit is the best Wii game EVER. Whether your looking for a enjoying, pleasurable, fun campaign mode or a enticing, action-packed, engaging multiplayer mode, The Conduit is the right choice for you to go.

My Rating: 8.5/10

Please note this is MY own written review although I have posted this on another site but I wrote that one as well.

What's the quality of the online play? Any chance you can elaborate on that?

@ Mike- I will edit with some more in-depth information on online play tomorrow. I will explain the modes carefully.

@ Eric- Thanks and it is not as laggy as brawl's wifi play but it does have lag just not as much xD

In simpler terms, the lag is bearable unlike brawl.

Lol it's honestly not anything special if you look at it with all the other systems.
Still, I'm going to play it.

But an 8.5? Waay too much.

I really wanna know why people think the Conduit is an awful game. I think it's a good game. (Will review it soon)

This review could have used a screenshot or two added, but overall, nice review.

Maybe not that it's an awful game, just compared to other games on other systems, it's nothing special at all.

Like lets say there's an old game that you played when it came out. You think it's amazing.

Now fast forward 10 years, and you look at the game again. So many new things have came out, some that are much better then the old one. And you might start to think that the old game is in fact pretty bad. Just like that, The Conduit could be viewed inferior in this same way to games like Halo.

I take back what I said about the 8.5. When giving a score, you did it right . (I think)
I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to review a game compared to others. Just all based on itself.

Well you rate it, based on expectations and standards. You expect PS3 games to have a certain quality of graphics, you expect 360 to have a working online, you expect Wii to make some use of motion.

At least you think an 8.5 is reasonable, yes it's great for the Wii, but it's an average shooter in general. Surprisingly even Nintendo Power rated it pretty unbiased noting this, they gave it an 8 or 8.5 as well. Now if we can just fix that rating for Corruption...

Anyway, stellar review, totally reasonable with what you had said.
