My favourite handeld zelda game was 'Link's awakening'. it was the first zelda game I played.
but my second favourite would be 'Minsih Cap' the last boss was more difficult that anyother of the last bosses from the handeld games.

links awakening for sure. i love that one, i even wrote a complete guide to all the secrets like the secret seashells, weapons, heart containers, and trade sequence. also both ways throgh the egg. PH is my second then minish cap, then link to the past GBA

Mine by far has to be Link's Awakening. Not only was it my first Zelda game, but it was the first to feature the trade sequence, as the only (to my knowledge) to have the Guardian Acorn and the Piece of Power. For being the third Zelda title created, they really took strides in developing it.
Plus don't forget the Mario enemies in there...

My favorite hand held is LoZ: Phantom Hourglass. Thou I have played the other handheld Zelda titles mentioned here IMO Phantom Hourglass busted onto the DS scene epically & nailed it the first try! Not many games can do that so IMO Phantom Hourglass is the best hand held game to date
