What are the poles for???

There are these yellow and brown poles sticking out of the ground. When I tap one link hops onto it. Is that all they're for???

its for the Hook, or Grapple, i dont remember the name. i pulls you to it or you can walk above it when connected though "cables"

When you have selected the Grappling Hook, when you tap it, Link will throw the Grappling Hook at it, so he can jump to the pole he threw it at ^^.

you can also use the grappling hook on more than one pole at a time.
when you use it touch the one pole and drag your stylus over to another pole and release and it will attach itself and make a tight rope where you can walk over or even if you need to use your bow. helpful combo when over gaps.
